Literally nearly cried when you said about your mum saying “it’s time to meet your baby!” Emosh! She’s beautiful and you’ve both fitted into parenthood amazingly. Your labour sounds similar to my sons. He kept popping back up too! Luckily he wasn’t back to back so I just pushed with all my might and he finally came out but I love how even though you obviously didn’t plan a c-section you turned it into a positive 💗

I’ve done a lot of c-section (I’m an operating room technician) and I cry pretty much every time 😅 It’s such a beautiful moment, you see women go from crying of pain to crying of happiness ❤️ I’m so happy for you 🥰

Lily, so much applaud to you and Rich for learning who Grey is and already respecting her needs as a person! As a mom of two (older children now), I can say that this alone will aid greatly in your relationship as she grows up. Keep up the excellent work of raising a human being. It truly is the most difficult job and you are off to an outstanding job!

Loved this! Your honesty and openness throughout your pregnancy, birth, and first weeks as a mom are so incredibly refreshing and helpful. Thank you for empowering other women to not only advocate for themselves and their preferences, but also letting them know that it’s okay if your birth doesn’t go according to plan.

such a beautiful video Lily, loved watching it. I'm a baby doctor (neonatologist) and watching babies being born will never be boring for me. such a miracle. I teared up when you said she recognised your voice, such a beautiful bond between mother and child even before they're born. all the best for you and your family. xx

Love your story-mine is kind of similar. I pushed for 17 hours total, the last 4 of which were “coached” so pushing as hard as I could. About 12 hours before he was born, I reached down and felt his head. He also was in a bad position and got stuck like yours. I’m so glad I was at a birthing center, because eventually he did come out, no meds or anything…had to try tons of positions and all that and eventually it worked! Had I been at a hospital of course they would have c sectioned me. You did a great job resisting for so long ❤

I'm am 42. years away from having a baby, but can't help but think how much nicer an experience it would have been to have a birth partner. I was pretty much terrified, and as I had waited until the last second (actually didn't realize I was so far along in labor!) I made it to the hospital, was prepped, and had my son 20 mins later! My husband was there in the hospital, but at that time, they didn't let them in the birthing room. I didn't have family nearby (or even on the same continent), so I am so happy for you that this experience, despite the time and effort you put in, was such a meaningful one. Kudos to Rich - men are so much more involved these days. Beautiful story, and gorgeous baby!

I am in complete awe of your plan and perspective. I have so much respect to you and all mothers. I would love to hear how motherhood is different/similar to what you expected and how you view your own mother differently now. Children are in our 5 year plan so I'm grateful for all the information.

I legit got emotional when you described your mum saying 'it's time to meet your baby'. I think I'm partly gonna blame the PMS, but also it's just lovely. Your journey has been such a wonderful one and I wish you, Rich and Gray a lifetime of happiness. xx

Please make more mummy type videos! I love your positive approach; many people would be very upset and negative about the complications you had. I’d love to hear about your experiences with feeding as well, it’s something nobody talks about enough but there’s such a stigma especially if you end up needing formula.

Thank you so much for this video. I’m pregnant and have been feeling pretty scared about the birth. But the way you describe it is so encouraging but honest at the same time. It’s given me so much reassurance. And your daughter is beautiful and super cute! Rich sounds like a legend too.

I'm not a mom nor expecting to be one anytime soon, but I have been an aunt for quite some time and one of my closest friends recently announced she's expecting, so I've been loving hearing your pregnancy/delivery/motherhood stories (on IG, too); you have been so raw and real, and I feel whenever it IS my turn, I'd go back to watch your videos. Totally got me emotional when you talked about your and Rich's experiences meeting Baby Grey for the first time, so sweet. Keep doing YOU, Lily!

Another important thing to say is it usually never goes like you imagined to go. It is good to have a birth project but sometimes you just need to be healthy and your baby too. So the thing is to lower expectations so that you won't be disappointed.

I had my baby three weeks ago and our labour stories are very similar. At least our babies are here safely. Thank you for sharing your story x
