I proposed to my husband, and to get the ring size, I bought a plastic ring sizer with the cover-story of buying a ring on etsy for myself. I claimed that I couldn't do it on my finger and didn't understand how to read it, so I said, "let me try yours!" I measured his pointer finger on his right hand, then measured mine. His was over twice the size, so I said, "Holy crap! What's your middle finger size??" We then compared ring sizes on all our fingers. He came away from that experience with the knowledge that I have tiny, stick fingers. I walked away with his wedding ring size.

I'm so happy for Garnt and Sydney, they are like the perfect degenerate couple :)

Having done what was basically a real proposal for a class assignment because I was able to be partnered with my then girlfriend for the marriage project, I can relate to how it feels when actually going through with the proposal. There were only 2, maybe 3 people in the entire school that knew I was going to propose during friday assembly with a cute video of our past pictures and the lovey-dovey punk rock music we both liked. When it was my time to get the ball rolling, they handed me the mic. I couldn't say a damn word, all I could do was go get her from her seat and bring her down front with me to watch the video with the entire school. I signaled the guy running a/v to get the video rolling and we all watched and waited. I turn to her and as I get down on my knee the music hits that moment, the "will you marry me" appears on the screen, and neither of us could say anything. She nodded and I gave her the ring, the entire auditorium filled with cheers from ~400 people. It was the single coolest thing I've ever done but I don't regret not being able to say anything. My only regret was not taking the moment all the way. School sucks so we didn't go for the kiss, just a long hug before going back to our seats. We should have gone for the kiss anyway, maybe staff would've gotten at us for it maybe they wouldn't have, I just wish we had the moment. Honestly wanted to pick her up and carry her out the door to really go the distance but I was a scrawny dude then :P

I think the whole proposal thing is a bit forced by American movies. Me and my gf at that time were just chilling on a hammock during our summer holiday and just said 'hey, I really love you, maybe we can get married'. 'I thought the same thing', and then we went shopping for rings the same day. I wouldn't have guessed her ring preference, or her exact size, so it was for the best.

Talking about 'The Beginning after the End'; being a light novel reader myself I can confirm that it is totally worth it. Having read both Mushoku Tensei and The Beginning after the End I can't say that one is better than the other, but if you liked Mushoku to such an extent then you will definitely love the webtoon.

The first season of symphogear is a bit low budget animation wise but it is the best season of the anime because is basically sums up all of the main themes of the show. Obviously if you end up watching then the other seasons are fine

I think that all of those things going wrong actually made the proposal/story even better. If it had gone perfectly, would it have been as memorable? Maybe. But I guarantee you both will remember that experience forever.

ok, now that you want to give web novels a go, I have a recommendation. (you said you want to read the beginning after the end) when you're disappointed and think that you saw it all when you doubt yourself forever liking an isekai, when you think isekai can never be deep or epic when your literary friends tell you that epic literature has been piqued by homer and No one can do it better remember this recommendation. (side note: don't waste your first time reading these books, if you're not in the mood for this don't start it and come back when you're ready) here it goes: lord of the mysteries and reverend insanity good luck.

So I plan to officially propose to my GF of six years this year at our 7th anniversary. Originally, I wanted to be sneaky about it and did measure the size of a ring she'd already had (one of those couple rings that aren't engagement rings and stuff) but remembered that it was one of those adjustable rings so the size wasn't quite right. I then asked her, cause she mentioned she wanted to get a new ring anyway if she's already found one in her size, she said no. Now, last week, I was smoothbrained enough to ask her if she has a favourite gemstone and, well, she figured it out and I said that I'v been thinking about it. We're kinda engaged anyway, just like unofficially, so she wasn't terribly surprised or anything but I still hope that it's gonna be a proper proposal in August. We'll go to a jewler today to figure out our sizes. Now, if that restaurant I wanted to book a table for would finally reply...

Straight up hats off to the guy who mentioned Koi X Uso, it's an anime I enjoyed!! The animation was enjoyable, the world was interesting, the music *slapped* and I was a fan. The manga has left me wanting (as of a year ago) but I'm hoping it gets a new cult following

Listening to Garnt's experience, I must say that those romcom mangas I'd been reading may not totally a fiction, lmao. Congratulations! Speaking of non-isekai fantasy, read Dungeon Meshi. If you're the type that really love the fantasy-side rather than the japanizing-beam side, give it a try. It's kinda weak at first and you may find yourself bored I won't lie, but as soon as the plot moves everything is paid off. TBATE is good but I can't really say it's better than Mushoku Tensei. I find it hard to compare both medium because if you've read both manga and manhwa, you will notice a peculiar "style" or "pattern" that these two medium has no matter the genre, similar feeling when you're reading western comic or watching CN Teen Titans and The Last Airbender. And when you're not uncomfortable with that pattern, you will find yourself uninterested in the series no matter how good it is.

Don't feel bad I think all proposals at some level never go as planned. My now-husband and I drove cross country in the dead of winter to spend Christmas with his family and that whole trip I knew how, when, and where I was gonna propose. I communicated to the family slight details. We get to Pittsburgh I tried 5xs to propose but something kept happening then I finally gave up and proposed in the snow. Now we are married and watch One Piece together every week and stream together it all works out LOL
