Assalamu’Alaykum Aunty, I’m confused about the masala quantity. Pilau biryani masala comes in 50g and 100g. Which one to use, 1.5 packets of 100g? Hoping to get a reply ASAP as I’m making it today.
Kindly correct me if I am wrong…But this IS Biryani…!!! No..???? I mean in biryani, rice are boiled separately and then layered with meat masala…whereas in pulao, rice are boiled WITH the meat masala…
This is a mixture of pulao and biryani. It mimics biryani since there’s layering of boiled rice involved. And pulao since the meat masala is very subtle flavoured.

I made pilau biryani following this recipe. It turned out good but who like it spicy should add chilli flakes or red chilli powder as per their liking. Also, aunty added 3/4 cup of water right before putting it on dum, that isn’t required unless your gravy is too dry otherwise it will make the rice mushy.
