I’m so sorry you have to go through this. My quincenera also got canceled this year. I’ve always been very shy, so it was really hard for me to step out of my comfort zone, I really struggled with the dancing. My best friend was suppose to be apart of it, but sadly she had to cancel due to a religious event that occurred during the same month of my quince. I was a little sad at first, but I understood why she couldn’t come. Luckily I was able to find a replacement, in the midst of all this my grandpa would come outside and take pictures of all us kids dancing. He was in his 80s, one of the greatest man I know. He became sick throughout the year, he had a rare lung disease and he suffered from heart failure. I loved my grandpa so much, he taught me so much throughout my life. Unfortunately his disease worsened while we were planning my quince. As the day came closer his lungs were starting to give out on him more. I really wanted him to make it but, unfortunately it didn’t happen. Luckily before he passed my dress had been ready, the dress came in the wrong color, (don’t go to Cinderella’s in Dtla) anyways, I decided that I didn’t mind it’s color that much, and I wanted my grandpa too see me before he passed, so I wore the dress and I walked into the hospital wearing it. I surprised him and he was so happy to see me. That was my favorite moment I ever shared with him. It was hard to carry on practices without him. On his last days he kept apologizing to me because he knew he couldn’t make it. I told him he’d be there with me in my heart. And he most definitely is. I love him so much, I still talk to him when times are hard. Ecspecially since the pandemic canceled my party. I’ll pray this virus gets over with quick, and we’ll be able to have our quinces soon, if not maybe sweet 16’s I wish u best of luck with ur party 🙏 💜
