My wife of 45 years died 2 years ago and I found Angelina on RU-vid a little after that and I believe her spirit and music helped me through the worst time of my life.
OMG - what a beautiful tribute to the “King.” The red guitar, the microphone, and the black jumpsuit - all similar to the ones Elvis used in his comeback tour. The Beehive hairdo - just like Priscilla Presley. Rob Christie of Republic Records does a fantastic job on the perfectly tuned piano. I love the slow tempo of this song, and how the end of the song was placed at the beginning. To quote T.S. Eliot, “What we call the beginning is often the end. And to make and end is to make a beginning. The end is where we start from…”. This girl is a GENIUS. Possibly the best vocalist in the world.

Elvis Presley and his producer Felton Jarvis cleverly covered this *Mark James song in 1969* , Elvis' last #1 hit in the US and #7 of his most successful songs. Felton Jarvis took the original arrangement completely and pushed the song with more speed and additional instruments (wind instruments, violin etc.) and a spectacular backing choir (in the studio version) and of course with Elvis Presley's voice. Pianist Rob Christie changed the musical arrangement and Angelina the vocal arrangement, but she didn't change the lyrics. Angelina changes the lyric structure, starting with the bridge and giving the song a different meaning. Once again many people don't hear and understand the song until when Angelina tells the story. 💯 *AJ* 💯

Rob was the MC of AJ Christmas Show that aired Dec 23, of 21. AJ’s Christmas Show that live-streamed on Dec 23 of 21 had some of the most important musicians of our time: Frank Sinatra's drummer for 6 years, and sun in-law of the late Henry Mancini, Greg Field has won 9 Grammys, and the bass player, Chuck Berghofer who also played for Sinatra for 6 years, and toured with Barbara Streisand, accompanied AJ on her Christmas Show, and they stated that she had the "storytelling ability of the greats, Streisand, Fitzgerald, Vaughan, including Sinatra, to name a few. I just watched the VMA's last night (Aug. 28), and reaffirmed why I will always watch and listen to Angelina Jordan over the trash that was on that awards show. Angelina truly is an angel sent from Heaven, and I hope and pray she stays true to herself and her style of music.

What a glorious production, praise to everyone involved, so perfect for Angelina Jordan she rules the universe with her talent. Again, the great talent of Rob Christie playing the piano. The Cinemaphotography, a total MASTERPIECE, Excellent ART Cole McCarthy! Great touch, the cousins and sister get a cameo. Mery, you should be so proud, AJ's grandma produced this. (This red guitar is identical to the one Elvis played in his 1968 concert on TV.) Oh, the tears, and loss of breath, she is like no other in the universe. Here is a classic example of what this ethereal talent, Angelina Jordan, can achieve she takes a mundane song and turns it in to phenomenal classic. Angelina at 16 is the MASTER of her universe, she is top priority for both Stargate, and AJ's voice has been unique since she was 7 years old and now at 16, she controls us as an audience, leaving us hang on every word and phrase. I agree with you Gitana. She has something special and unique that she is able to transmit or convey to the listener. Perhaps you have had the good fortune to eat a meal where the chef was so good, the first bite of food brought tears to your eyes. It is a moment where you recognize that you are eating food, but it is so much more than food. Angelina is like this kind of chef. She sings songs. Yes it is music, and very tastefully done like no other, but it transcends music. It is something much more than music. It seems not everyone is able to receive this extra that she transmits. I feel badly for these folks and hope at some point they have their own personal "Road to Damascus" moment...

My interpretation of the symbolism of this music video: First, and foremost; Angelina Jordan at 16 is the epitome of a Storytelling ARTIST, and she has the ability to take us by the hand and lead us down an imaginary path that we visualize as reality. The remarkable fact is that we experience this in each of her performances. In this video we see her as a married woman in her mid to late 20s. As AJ sings the phrase “Were caught in a trap, I can’t walk out” we see 3 small children, this to me is a marriage where the children come first. If it were AJ by herself, she would not stay in a relation without trust.

Hi Gitana - nice to see you back to reacting to AJ. The girl has been busy this summer. I flew from Manchester to Sandesfjord to watch her in concert in July. She was quite unbelievably good. Not just the singing but fantastic stage presence as well. Hope you get to react to some of the songs from the concerts.
Absolutely what I expected. She made this her own song and she did it beautifully. I noticed Juliet sitting there she is going to be as beautiful as Angelina one day. Elvis' version is great and, and it still is one of my favorites. but Angelina's version is equally great and is definitely her own. When I first heard this song I loved it and put it at #3 on my playlist (Angelina Jordan Playlist by Terry M.), about midday I moved it up to #1. The main thing that changed my mind was the power in her voice. I'm not talking about loudness I'm talking about the power she has regardless of how loud or soft she sings. This is a quality that I haven't heard from anyone in my 82 years. This voice has become so unique that it is totally unmatched. Her phrasing in the last bridge is great. And she got Elvis’s ‘Oh Yea’ at the end of the song. The pianist is Rob Christie (3 Grammys), he is the head of the Republic Record department that is responsible for Angelina and other singers. The two small kids are her uncle Mike's kids, and the older girl is Angelina's sister. Gitana Dear, have you seen any of her concerts in Norway??? In this concerts, you see her style is realy in Jazz, Soul, Ruth and Blues. She is or will be the barefoot Queen of Jazz, soul and R+B. AJ was so happy, she giggled, laughed and cried some happy tears, when she finally met her fans from all over the world.

You are one of the main reaction videos I watched from the beginning of Angelina Jordan's career, and I'm very happy to see your reaction to her release of Suspicious Minds. Angelina always impresses me with her artistic interpretations of a song as well as her ability to communicate the song through her voice. I'm looking forward to seeing your reactions of her concert in Norway. There is so much material there with so much range in emotional connection. So many songs in the Norway concert that connect emotionally. The one song that has stood out for me is Mount Everest. This is a song by Labyrinth that showcases her newest abilities to perform at a new level of excellence. Without giving it away, listen to the Labyrinth version where synthetic vibrato is used and you will notice Angelina uses her natural voice to take it to another level where synthesizers are not needed. Her version of Mount Everest, to me, showcases her ability to take any song and loft it in an emotional connection that exhibits her ability to convey the essence of not only Jazz but also Rhythm and Blues. Here, in the upper midwest of the U.S. we've also had a pretty darn good one also (Wisconsin)! Much love to you both, and here's to many years of wonderful times ahead! Angelina's summer concerts in Norway were AMAZING! Unfortunately, I couldn't be there in person, but even recorded on cell phones by numerous people, and uploaded by them, Angelina live is unbelievable! Just out of this world impressive at 16 (16!!!!!)! Her physical instrument, her vocal cords and larynx, etc. won't be fully matured for about another decade, if you can imagine! She just gets better, and better! And she's getting so much more comfortable with interacting with the fans, and her band, just superb! You still at times can tell she's still young, and is still her sweet, humble self, and it is just adorable! The oldest of the other children in the video is her sister, Juliette, and the toddler is her cousin, Athena, and the littlest one is Athena's younger sister. So happy to see you back doing Angelina reactions, Gitana. I have really missed your emotional reactions, there are very few reactors that connects so deeply with Angelina and her voice as you do. My summer has been fantastic, attended a lot of concerts here in Norway with fantastic Norwegian artists. And the best experience? Of course 2 concerts with this 16 year old legend, performing over 30 song, not one was less than fantastic, I would almost say that not a second of the concert was less than perfect. Angelina has grown so much since I last saw her in 2019, so mature on the stage, communicating so well and genuinely with the audience. Really something you should try to experience, maybe seeing you next year here in Norway?
Was born in memphis. Have been to graceland when Elvis was alive . Sat on the couch with him and watched. Tv series " emergency" his favorite when i was 15 years old. He and my dad where friends. One of the nicest people you ever meet.

Somehow you forgot to post a link to Angelina's channels. The song was written by Mark James. In the Wikipedia entry of the origins of the song, he is said to have remarked "That late one night, he was fooling around on his Fender guitar and using his Hammond organ pedals for a bass line and came up with what he thought was a catchy melody. At the time, he was married to his first wife but still had feelings for his childhood sweetheart, who was married back in Houston. James's wife had suspicions about his feelings. He felt it was a confusing time for him and that all three were "caught in this trap that they could not walk out of." Other singers covering this song invariably base their performance on that of Elvis, in that it is very "upbeat". Angelina took a very different path in that she read and understood the lyrics and what Mark James intended when writing them . To my mind, her rendition is much truer to the emotions of the song. The children appearing in the video were Angelina's cousins Aurora (first) and then Athena - daughters of her uncle Michael Astar, and then her sister Juliette. I would hazard a guess that they were included to emphasise that children are very important to Angelina and her family. Confession! I have never been a great fan of Elvis Presley, although I do like some of his earlier recordings, and I had never heard of the song "Suspicious minds" but knew that Angelina would completely take ownership of it, and she did. It was beautiful. After listening to it several times, I decided to download the lyrics to see whether she kept to the original structure. She didn't, and the song is all the better for it. For me, that she started with the Bridge of the song is very significant and, I feel, very indicative of Angelina's "up front" transparency. She was declaring that it was important that their love did not die, and then carries on to say why she feels as she does. Others first say how they feel and then, almost as an afterthought, assure their love they don't want it to end. For me, it is whether I feel the singer is genuine about the situation and wishes it could be resolved or whether the singer understands the situation but thinks the blame is on her/his partner but feels the need to assure them they don't want it to end (until somebody else comes along).
