I love your vids. I plan on going to the Army. I also have to lose weight and start working out. Were you able to run, do push-ups, and sit ups before you went to bootcamp? Thanks!
Thank you love! And I was able to do the bare minimum which you will have to do to join. Running was hard for me and still is but you'll get used to it once you start doing it every day. and you're very welcome and good luck to you!
Thanks for making this video. Most of the ones I've seen are so outdated! I just took my asvab in January and I'm waiting for my medical papers to come back. Your video is very informative. Thanks so much!
Thank you for making this video!!! I leave for basic in 13 days and I'm really having the hardest time.. My husband is in the guard and his unit got called to go fight fires and doesn't come back until the 31st of this month. The 31st is my ship out date so he won't even be able to see me before I leave. Then, we have to go nearly 7 months apart for my basic & AIT. And I'm just wondering how I'm going to be able to cope. Now I know what to expect at reception, so thanks again 😊
It is my pleasure! And I was in a similar boat when I left. My husband PCS'ed to Korea during basic and I couldn't call him or anything because I didn't have his new # at first. I was upset at first but the friends you make will get you through the tough times. Just do what you gotta do and the time will fly by! Good luck on your journey. Xo
yes to all but I can only speak for FT Jackson. They mostly serve all things healthy however there are going to be days when they will serve "Hot A's" which is when you don't go to the DFAC and it's very limited selections and not so appetizing lol We had a salad bar, ice cream machine, and most days dessert but with the amount of time you have to eat.. you probably wont get to enjoy those things.
MyChi Vain there were a few times I second guessed my decisions but the good outweighed the bad lol it really depends on what you want out of the experience.
Hey Im Joining The Army Hopefully If Everything Goes Right Im Finally Going Follow In My Grandpa & Dad Foot Steps Im 24 And I Always Told My Self That I Would Never Join The Military But Right Now In My Life Things Just Arent Going Great For Me And Ive Been Lookin Into The Army And Its The Best Option For Me Right Now I Am Super Scared LoL Because I Meet My Recruiter Today Im Worried About This Asvab Test And I At Lease Hope My Recruiter Lets Me Study For It Before I Go To Meps To Take The Real One Because I Want To Get Either A 50 Or A 60 On The Real One So I Can Get A Go Job Also I Wanted To Kno When Go Off To Basics Do u Have To Shower In Front Of Ppl & If U Do Can I At Lease Cover My Private Area BeFore I Shower And After I Shower ? & Also How Long Is AT School & How Can I Get Based Overseas Or Deployed Overseas Or What Its Called
You can take practice test at the recruiter station to see where you're at or go to 4tests.com. The shower situation depends on the unit you end up in. If you're in a unit with newer barracks then the showers are individual. If you're in an older barracks.. The showers are open bay and yes everyone will be naked. You can wake up earlier than everyone else to shower if thats the case. When you go through in processing you will get a wish list of 3 duty assignments and request overseas locations but its always needs of the army so its no guarantee. If you get Germany, 9/10 you will deploy. AIT depends on your job. Can range from 2 months to 8.
If you don't meet height and weight standards and require taping during meps then yes you will need to do height and weight again on ship day. If you don't meet the requirements you will be temporarily disqualified for a determined amount of time and will have to come back. You may lose whatever job you had reserved.
What was it like going in married to another service member? Especially one in another country? I'm in a really similar situation as you were when you joined. How did you end up in Korea with him? I've heard they try to get dual military couples stationed together.
Well when I left for Basic he was about to PCS to Korea so it was a little stressful since I didn't have contact info for him at first. Being dual military in training you're not authorized any extra pay benefits on both ends (BAH and FSA) which many people think you are but you're not. When I got to AIT I asked my Sergeant to take me to the S1 there so I could enroll in the married couples program (MACP) and once that was approved My orders were changed to Korea. The MACP is no guarantee you'll be stationed together because duty assignments are needs of the army and it really depends on your mos. If you can't get stationed together they'll put you as close as possible. Being that he out ranks me.. I go where he goes because my MOS is needed everywhere. Hope this helps Xo
Yes and whenever you shower I suppose lol showers have to be quick so you would be shaving in a hurry. I had just enough time to shower and co wash my hair in the mornings. At night is when I got to really cleanse myself and shave. I would suggest waking up earlier than wake up time or opting to go last at night if you want longer shower time.
