It's been many long months since I posted a film on my You Tube channel. This fairly long video explains where I've been and why, what my plans are for the future and a general update. I hope you enjoy the scenery too.
My upcoming "Four Corners" expedition - www.lifeafloat...
You can buy my book about my 2015 sea kayak journey around Scotland - amzn.eu/d/8A2UkvK
Filmed entirely on a GoPro Max with DJI microphone.

The light is beautiful. My spirit lifted when I saw your video notification, thank you, and for sharing your health experiences, this greatly helps me get a better understanding of others who are managing the same sitiuation and to realise how big a struggle it is and to acknowledge that. Looking forward to following your next adventure.

It's good to see you back Nick, but please don't feel obliged, every week or every 2 years just post when it suits you. I've seen most of your RU-vid videos & enjoy the presentation & of coarse the trips. You may have set your expectations of yourself a lot higher than most of us, you certainly have nothing to prove to anyone else. Sorry you suffer, but don't feel alone, take our collective positive energy with you. We care. Bless you.

Great to see you back Nick, so glad you sought help and good advice. Always enjoy your videos. You are a great chap, which shone through on your epic kayaking around Scotland vids. Much love.

Lovely to see to back on the sea around Mull and hear the joy in your narration of the beautiful views of the Mull coastline. The tranquility of your trip makes me want to return to the island asap! 🚴‍♀

What an inspiring video. I look forward to seeing your new book in print. The planned walk is very interesting and i hope you will video it all. I am especially intrigued with your intended use of a paraglider on your walk, what a fantstic idea. Good luck with your challenge, you put into action what a lot of us only dream about. You're a good man.

Nick, thank you for making this video and talking about your illness in such a candid way. I know that I am fortunate to have good mental health and hearing you talk about your experience helps me to understand how debilitating it can be to be ill with depression. I hope you have a good autumn and that your plans for 2025 develop well. I look forward to following your adventures wherever they may take you. Best wishes.

Thank you for sharing your story. It is very inspiring. Please do write about your latest adventure - it certainly is a story worth sharing. But also please do keep in mind that that critical voice that tells you you can't, you're not good enough etc is, I think, inevitable when you are a writer. I don't think you can completely get rid of it. But you can certainly turn down the volume. Or tell it to get lost. "Easily bruised by my own thinking," is a beautiful way to describe something that will be familiar to many creative and/or sensitive people. But please keep on keeping on. Please write that book. Think about writing it for one person rather than a bigger audience. Just to shut out the critic a bit. But don't let that critic stop you. Please! Your Foundation sounds a wonderful idea too. I think there are many people of a certain age who would benefit so much from rediscovering the adventurer within. Very best of luck. Check in regularly and always enjoy your updates.

A lot of material well expressed, and there'll be a fair number of folk (aye, including me) who will be familiar with some of your experiences. Your life's making ripples in the world, as Terry Pratchett might have put it. It's good to see you're on a rising tide now and with charitable plans to lift boats other than your own.

Firstly great video with some lovely views, and them photos of the Sea Eagles where beautiful. So glad to hear you are now feeling more at peace with yourself, and it was very brave of you to share your story, I'm sure it will give hope to others who may be going through something similar. Looking forward to many more paddle adventures from you, however, that walk a cross Scotland will be very interesting to watch. Take care.

welcome back Nick. Lovely to share your thoughts and insights and so glad you are on the road to recovery with plans ahead...I loved your phrase 'immersed in the enormity of nature'. It really does sum up how it feels kayaking in some places, especially the west coast of Scotland.

Dear Nick, bentornato! it is very very very nice to have you back online 😃. Thank you for sharing with us your wee paddle tour, your magnificent land, your thoughts and your plans...and the beautiful film, of course :-) A big hug and much love from a fellow kayaker in northern Italy. PS: In my humble opinion, you give us all A LOT by sharing all of this; some of us give something back by writing a comment etc. Many don't for their own reason. That's it, I suppose :-) so there's no need to apologise for "not wiriting back". Creativity is the key! 💚

Heart warming to see you back afloat. I wait with excitement for the publication of the new book having enjoyed the first one very much. Your new adventure by land and air sounds fantastic and I trust you will delight us with videos of your travels. As you were responsible for getting me into sea kayaking at 66 I feel your charity for over fifties is a wonderful idea. I’m over in Mull in October and am planning to kayak from Loch Buie to Carsaig Arches so really looking forward to that. Keep going. Philip

I love the gentle pace of your videos and the sense of oneness with nature you so clearly get from time on the water in your kayak. Keep taking care of yourself! That's the most important thing.

Oh Nick…. No need to apologise……Watching your vlog with your openness and honesty about your depression has reduced me to tears….im sure there is a lot of us that can relate to how you were feeling. I’m so glad you got the help you needed when you did. You are not worthless….,far from it…..You have so much to offer us with your knowledge of the outdoors. I followed your trip around Scotland which was amazing. I, like so many of your followers will be looking forward to your new adventures. The foundation….. what a fantastic idea…. And please do an audio version of your book. I think it adds so much more depth and meaning to what that person has experienced. 🙏

It’s so good to see you back again sharing your love of kayaking and the outdoors. Thank you for also relating your struggles with your illness and the frankness of how you continue to recover. You have so much to say which gives us an insight and understanding of dealing with this mental illness. You are such an engaging communicator with so much of value to share and watching and listening to your stories is always a highlight of my RU-vid viewing. I’m looking forward to your new walking adventures, especially as you head around the NE coast (can’t wait to see your paragliding footage.) I use your videos of your leg around the Moray Coast along to Aberdeen to inform my own wee excursions in my Necky kayak so thanks again. Take care and enjoy being afloat again!
