I don't participate in record store day but I've found cheap RSD LPs still in the shrink and have snapped them up some time after the event. Really enjoy watching your videos, many thanks for sharing them with us 👍👍👍
I had no idea what RSD was until early this year. IMHO some crazy vinyl prices for a lot of the RSD records I saw on offer. Thanks for watching and your kind comment.
I stop getting up early for record store day because I realize that weeks after RSD I was still seeing all the records I got up early and waited in line for were still available . Lol 😂
Hi, I also would never camp out overnight outside a record shop. I like my comforts too much! I'm delighted you got the album you wanted and the other previous RSD titles.
First time to your channel. Very nice. I put up with the RSD crowds because the issues i want are limited here in Alaska so i get in line early in order to get what I want. Thanks for sharing, very articulate and you are lovely.
Yes. It's crazy to find that in the bargain bin. All those earlier RSD brand new albums were really marked down. Couldn't believe it. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Hello I too love Carlos Santana and some of his 80’s albums were hit and miss for me as well. But I brought them when they ended up in the dollar bins only to give them another listen. Great video peace ✌🏾 and blessings to you
Reassuring to know someone else in the VC feels the same way about those 80s Santana albums. Must be hard for musicians to try and evolve with the times and keep up with music trends. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Just recently found your channel and love it! Been collecting vinyl for close to 50 years and I have never supported RSD. It’s all about the hunt for me at times when there are few people in a store
I stopped doing record store day also because I don't like the crowds either. Record shopping is something I do too relax, not feel stressed out that I need to get something because it's limited edition.
So true. Mostly the shops are too busy to even recognize the regular customers and are too stressed out to be polite. At least that’s the way it is here. For the shop, the artist and all. Except the consumer. Too stressful and expensive for me any more. Ill shop online from now on. Lovely purple. I did get the Red Rose Speedway from Wings. My local shop held a copy for me to come in after rsd. Nice shop
Thanks for watching and commenting. FYI. My favourite 4 Seasons songs are "Who Loves You" and "Beggin' " Some of Bob Guadio's songs are so way ahead of their time. Have a great day.
Yes. I wasn't desperate to have it but it seemed it was meant to be. I'm trying my best to just enjoy the records I already have. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
hello rm, i dont participate in record store day anymore, like yourself i am not keen on crowds and if there is a record i really need to have i can get it at a later date and probably a little cheaper as well. i really liked your finds! the jazz lp looks very nice as does cesaria evora, am not familiar with her but i would definitley be interested as i am getting into world music. i do like santana, mostly his earlier stuff and america is another cool band which i also have very few lps by them. always nice to see what you have aquired for your collection, thanks for sharing once again, take care!
I have Evora's albums on CD. My two favourite are the 1995 "Cesaria" and 1999 "Cafe Atlantico". I have no idea what she is singing in Portuguese but it's lovely music all the same. Thanks for watching and commenting.
That “ Jazz from the Penthouse “ was a great find. I went to 4 different record shops to find the Roy Ayer’s and Art Blakey releases to no avail. Oh well. I think that both of these releases were RSD first release so hopefully they will get pressed and released at a later date.
Sorry to hear you couldn't get those Ayers and Blakey releases. The record companies know when they are onto winners and probably press more later on. Thanks for watching and commenting.
The Art Blakey RSD release is super limited. Only 1800 copies, at least in the US. I did the whole “stand in line for 3 hours” thing for the first time this year. I really wanted the Eric Dolphy and Charlie Parker releases. Fortunately I was able to snag them both. I’m sure you’ll track down those Blakey and Ayer’s records! They’re on Discogs if all else fails.
That’s an interesting array of albums . Like you , I prefer to shop for music , when the shops are quieter . It’s a much more pleasant experience . That’s an interesting looking Cesaria Evora album . I have her Cafe Atlantico album , which is great . If you plan on getting more America albums , may I suggest that you try Homecoming . I think that it’s their best album , and all of the tracks on it are very good . I look forward to exploring that Jack Wilson Quartet album . Thank you for the recommendations !
Cafe Atlantico is my favourite Evora lp and thanks for the heads -up on the "Homecoming" album. Will check it out. At the moment I am back to zero as per having any America vinyl as I decided to gift that RSD America limited edition green vinyl to a member of the vinyl community who really wished he had a copy of it so I posted it to him as a surprise. Happy to "play" it forward. Enjoyed listening to it a few times and that's good enough for me. Thanks for watching the video.
I'm sure i have a copy of America-A horse with no name on 7" 🤔 It's one of those golden oldie tunes that i love singing along to when at work in the lorry. I like Ventura Highway as well,I'll have to get hold of the single for that one.
America's background is fascinating. Band made up of Americans who grew up in the UK for a while. Apparently US Army kids who missed America...hence the name of the band. I ended up posting this RSD special edition copy to the USA to a VC member there. Happy to "Play It Forward". :-)
Nice pickups! I don’t like RSD either. There was a Studio One ska sampler I checked on the day after but no joy. Did find a copy of Roy Ayers Everybody Loves the Sunshine in the $3 bin at the flea market! Not all was lost. Enjoy your records
Congratulations on those finds. Since you played that Santana, have you played it a second time? I have a lot of Santana albums, but I don’t have that one. I don’t know much about it. I have a digital copy that I bought of his Africa album from a few years back. That’s interesting. I have seen him 10 times in concert and just recently went to the theatre to see his documentary called “Carlos”.
The Splendiferous album is fantastic IMHO. It reminds me of his Supernatural album which was just awesome. He collaborates with various artists and I think it really works well. I would have loved to see him concert. That must have been an amazing experience to see him 10 times! Thanks for stopping by.
Love Roy Ayer’s and Jack Wilson. If you can find it Roy Ayers West Coast Vibes on united artist released in the sixties is a jazz gem. Jack Wilson’s album Quartet on Atlantic (his first on that label is beautiful with Roy Ayers).Jack Wilson Easterly Winds on blue note is a beautiful straight ahead jazz album with Jackie McClean on alto and Lee Morgan on trumpet.❤
Glad your number 1 pick for RSD 2023! I feel the same way about someone or something smiling down on me when it comes to RSD. This year was a great year for blues releases and I was fortunate to get everything I wanted and then some! This is my firs time visiting your channel, but won't be my last. Nice collection of books you have there as well. Which one do you recommend reading first? Best, Steve
I find "Vinyl - The Art of Making Records" by Mike Evans a pretty interesting read. Enjoy all your 2023 RSD buys. Many thanks for stopping by and commenting.
I had a disappointing rsd, not much selection available where I am, which is surprising as I’m in Manhattan, NYC. Ultimately I got a couple of things in reverse like you. Keep going with your channel!
My favourite "go to" record store doesn't do RSD. They sell mainly used records. I am trying to not buy any new vinyl and enjoy the vinyl that I have already.
I Got 4 of the five I wanted well after the day at retail prices - So I'm happy, Most of the stuff is garbage that if it isn't Taylor Swift it won't sell that well - Kanye was right, just joking Beyonce is shit also.
