Hey, i read your story and i was curious... did you stretch to oversplits before you started rhythmic gymnastics? Im 12(turning 13 next month) and i really wanna go back to gymnastics again after quitting at age 6. Im stretching right now and im scared and unsure if they will accept me into training because starting young is standard, did you somehow convince them or does it depend on the studio?

You can still start! My friend began RG when she was 14....I started at 12, but you can still do it!

IIYourFuturePresidentII oh that's good to hear. I used to do jazz dance for maybe a year or so and hadn't got my splits yet. But I'm excited because I have a good gym nearby

I have been doing rhythmic gymnastics 3 1/2 years (with a 6 month interruption for injuries)- started when I was 12. Competition fright? :) I get it too- EVERY time! When I competed, I got sooooo nervous and shakey and one time my coaches pretty much called me the most nervous girl on the team. But, I've been learning and getting better, so.... Here's my advice: Jitters are inevitable. They're natural. Even Olympic champions get nervous. Adrenaline can even help you compete better, when there's not too much. But the point is just to go out on the carpet and have FUN. Don't worry about what anyone says or thinks- don't think about your score, or placing well, or messing up. Make it your goal to enjoy yourself, and repeat that to yourself in your mind. Even if you have goals about placing or whatever, set them aside and just concentrate on enjoying yourself. I know first hand thanks to all my injury/health problems that you never know which competition will be your last, so make it your priority to treat every competition as if you're never going to compete again. (That means have fun.) And when your on deck, right before you go on, DON'T watch the girl performing before you. Close your eyes, take DEEP BREATHS (It's scientifically proven to make you calmer) and visualize yourself doing a perfect routine. Then go out there and have a blast! That's all I have.... So GOOD LUCK at Nationals!!! :) No matter what happens, just remember to smile and have an awesome time out there on the carpet. It can be scary, but performing is also one of the best feelings on earth! :)

Omg for not replying. It went great for a first time. I came 8th overall in level 6 and I improvised half my freehand routine and got 4th (I'm so proud) 😂! I got 6th for ball and 9th for hoop. My friend started doing my ball routine half way through hers bc she forgot it but it looked good. I feel good it was fun!! Even though I fell on my chest stand and started doing backwards rolls 😂
