anybody reading this in 2024, letting yall know that i had RC an hour ago, and it went absolutely fine! i was a nervous wreck, i was having panic attacks the entire night before and even few mins before the procedure i was feeling dizzy with the fear but my dentist was amazing. with my fear of needles as well he was so subtle with the anesthesia i didn’t even realize the first second, then i felt the pinch, the pain really didn’t last more than 10 secs and that also was due to my anxiety. the process was painless, felt all of it but felt no pain. i had a severe case since my canal was calcified which means im to b expecting twice as more pain than usual now but it was okay, the process was good, i hope this helps anyone reading!
I've had many root canals in my lifetime & a small fortune has been spent on my dental care. I recently had a toothache which felt infected, so I was referred by my dentist to visit an orthodontist. The tooth in question is a retreat from 10 years ago-I keep personal records of my procedures. I've recently found out that root canals last for approx. 5 years, so I was "lucky." Since my childhood, I've always been coached to take care of my teeth at all costs unless I want to succumb to wearing full dentures. I did not return to the original orthodontist, but my present orthodontist told me that the original orthodontist "missed" one of the roots in this tooth which was giving me trouble- 3 of the 4 roots were treated. I have extremely long roots & this is a 2 day procedure spaced 1 week apart. Some people will go through life without major dental problems, others may lose all of their teeth. In some cases it's neglect, fear, or economics. For others, it's simply genetics.
Thank you for sharing your experience with the world. I’m sorry you had to go through that. I’m contemplating getting a root canal. 😕 Kudos to you for being such a trooper. 👍👌
Glad your feeling is coming back! I had my wisdom teeth taken out from a specialist and ended up getting permanent nerve damage on my bottom right cheek all the way to my chin! Was super hard at the beginning but you figure it out as you go! Glad you are on the road to recovery! And hopefully no trips to the dentist anytime soon!
I had a very bad experience at the dentist a few years ago, I also had a bad gut feeling but ignored it, I will never ignore my gut feeling again, problem is differentiating between anxiety and a legit gut feeling but for me if I’m in a situation where I could be harmed and I get that nagging gut feeling I will not ignore it! I hope you have healed and feeling better! I dread going to the dentist but I have to go back for a failed root canal which was originally damaged my another dentist that messed up a filling!
I could write a huge novel about my RCT adventures (unnoticed perforated root) , so I know what it is quite well . When I 've lost another filing, I did not take any chances and found a dentist outside of network. The replacement white filling was not only very reasonable priced, but this new dentist saved me from another RCT strongly recommended by my primary HMO dentist. (He used indirect capping over pulp under filling) Bottom line , always get a second opinion!
I have an infection in my mouth in a cavity i have and they said i need root canal, im scared my infection may bet worse, the gave me prescribed amoxicillin and plus i have anxiety so my health is worrying me right now
I'm in the same boat.. if there is a 1 percent chance of something going wrong we'll I'm the guy it happens to!! Dental work is annoying and expensive!!!!! Just paid 2700 dollars for a root canal and crown and a month later it hurts again!! And the only reason I had to have a root canal cause a dentist filled a small cavity that apparently he messed up and drilled to deep and hit my roots... its been so ridiculous!!!! I never eat candy and haven't had a soda pop in 15 years .. i brush 2 times a day and floss every day .... your not alone.. team teeth problems and I always am that small percent
Hi Leah, Thank you for sharing your story. I am going through the same ordeal and am having excruciating pain. I am on day 2 with swelling an out of this world pain. Taking Amoxicillin ( my third prescription since I, like you, had to wait a whole month to get the root canal.) Also, taking 800 mg of Ibruprofen - doesn't help. I can sympathize with you. I hope our teeth get better so we don't have to suffer one more day. Hope you have a nice holiday andnot omore toothache. Thanks, again.
Ahh don’t be nervous! My situation is super uncommon, I’ve had root canals before this one that went perfectly without any problems at all :) best of luck to you!
I had a root canal retreatment done overseas while I was on deployment. It was on March 8th. Ever since then I have been in a living hell. A day after I experienced cognitive fog, slowed down, slow processing, numbness all over my body, headaches and pressure, taste/smell diminished. Its to the point to where I feel like I can't drive in heavy traffic. I do remember starting to have cold symptoms around that time. I don't know if the root canal retreat could've caused this or the trauma from the procedure unleashed something from my immune system. Like an autoimmune disease. On active duty orders getting testing done. It's almost been 3 months and I am feeling this way. Can anyone help?
Question - I had a root canal Saturday it’s now Monday . Although I expected pain (as with any surgery) the pain I have is STILL IN THE TOOTH…. Honestly it feels JUST LIKE before the RC except maybe 2-3x worse like the one I have temp filling in rn hurts more than the tooth that hasn’t been treated yet that also needs a RC & is actually the worse of the two teeth in terms of damage. Is that normal or did they maybe not get the entire nerve out? My insurance only covers X-rays , exams & cleaning for dental past 21 so I’ve paid 1,500 already & it will be $4,000 altogether :(
My right of the face also swelled after 2nd appointment. The doc says it will fix after 3rd appointment.God knows what will happen. I will edit this comment as soon as i get my third appointment
Hi Leah we share a name! My middle name is Leah. Anyway, do you now have 5 crowns in total? Did they crown all your RC teeth as well as the other 2? Bless you i'm the same with the slim chance thing! :) We are special huh? Well, there's a slim chance of winning the lotto so maybe some day...
