Imagine picking a team from the Bok and AB forwards. Starting with your forwards pick, but bringing in Kitzhoff, Marx, Lomax, Snyman, Nortje, Kwagga, and Wiese as a Bomb Squad! I would love to see thatbteam play a combined NH team in a 3 game championship between North and South! Where I disagree with you very strongly is Caleb Clarke. Clarke’s defence is very suspect to say the least. I think Mark Talea or KL Arendse are much more reliable on defence. Still, image a game between North and South! The prospect is simply mind blowing! Come on World Rugby, or are you scared that your precious NH team will get buried?
We should have a northern hemisphere vs southern hemisphere 3 test tournament. The best of South Africa New Zealand, Australia and Argentina vs the best of Ireland, France, England, Scotland and Italy.
With de Allende only playing the 4 matches compared to the 6 of Chocobares, my midfield selection was heavily influenced by minutes on the park hence why Jesse Kriel was the perfect man to fill the 13 jersey. There is no denying how terrific of a player de Allende is and his 4 turnovers won throughout the competition alongside some great defensive work backs that up. Chocobares having over double the amount of tackles throughout the competition and only missing one more tackle than de Allende, plus more metres gained per carry is what gave him the spot for me. Can understand why you would argue that de Allende should be there though 👍
@@TheKiwiLads Stats are so overrated in rugby. A miss tackle for example, only counts if you make contact with the player, you can be completely out of position and not even touch the player with the ball, and it doesn’t count as a miss tackle. The other thing is the Springboks defence is notorious for missing tackles, because they focusing more on disruption, and getting in the way, to force the attack to have to come back inside to the forwards, if they do get it wide, it’s normally not clean ball, because the blitz slows it down from the outside. So the best defensive team ever misses lots of tackles. As for total tackles, it’s a dumb stat. The losing team almost always makes more tackles, so why praise an individual for making more tackles over the tournament? If a team concedes 50 every game in the rugby championship, you can bet their players are breaking every tackle record in the book. De Allende is probably the best defensive back ever. Metres per carry, another misleading stat, de Allende is often used like a loose forward, just to take the ball into contact, and build for the next phase, he’ll often receive it as an outlet, when the Boks have no where to go, give it to De Allende, because he’s a safe ball carrier who can still get over the gain line and secure the ball under pressure. Stats don’t take into account context. De Allende was better than Chocobares, and no stats could say otherwise.
I can see that you are set in your choice so I’m not going to change your mind. The key word in the title is ‘My’ meaning my opinion for team of the tournament. There are always going to be differences in opinions but that’s one of the things that makes rugby great. That we can all look at moments in games differently and make our own judgements 👍
My TOTT has 9 Springboks and 5 All Blacks in it which works pretty well with how the standings of the Rugby Championship ended. Which All Blacks that I selected do you feel don’t deserve to be there?
little bit of bias with the Savea selection to be honest. Not taking anything away from him, he is incredible, but this TRC he has been quiet. Hasnt had the impact he usually does imo. I think the argie loose forwards are hard done by here
The Argentine loose forwards have certainly have had a busy competition. Isn’t it incredible that a player like Savea can have the most carries and second most defenders beaten in the comp and still seem like he hasn’t done much? Oviedo certainly proved that he is a future prospect for the Pumas and I’m looking forward to seeing him in November 👍
Fassi…….sure catches the ball….but not much else. At present, seems to shine from the glow and aura of those around him. I’d still pick LeRoux or Willemse at 15 when it gets serious
The problem with South Africa and this type of selection is they don't play same players all the time. Using stats like running meters for example, if SA played same players all the time it would have been different
It does make it tricky for these types of videos. If certain players for the Boks had the opportunity to play all games, a few names would get switched 👍
Agree. And that is also the reason why so many Bok players failed to make the team of the RWC. The incredible amount of planning that went into player management throughout the tournament meant that few players were on the field more than 50% of the overall team playing time.
