My chemistry class in secondary school was the only time that I remember where teachers had to be switched and the vice principal of the school was the substitute apparently. Also, in college, one of the teachers I had is like stuck in the 1980s or something and everyone had like a poker face every time he mentions computers of that era. Was an okay teacher, but I kinda got mad at him when he gave me a big fat 0 for not exceeding the word count on an essay (I was like 200 words away; I expected partial credit).

I had a high school chemistry teacher that had an enormous amount of novelty pants. This was right on the cusp of the internet being a thing, so I don’t know where he got them. But Wednesdays were fun because I got to see what would be on his pants. They looked comfy too. I also had a creative teacher who asked us to write an essay about an inspiring teacher. I got the feeling she was fishing for compliments with this assignment. To this day, I like to imagine her feeling a little jealous about how much I loved her colleague’s pants over her “teaching” style.

Not necessarily a weird teacher, but when I was in college, I took a course in International Relations. Every day, my professor would start class with thirty minutes of open discussion - a kid would bring up an event relating to International Relations, and the professor would explain many of the ins and outs of that issue. Also, when finals were drawing near, I remember him saying something like this (he had just finished explaining the best way to prepare for finals): "If you show up to class and put in the effort, it is very difficult to fail this course. Now, those students who are not here, well, they're really the ones who needed to hear this, but they didn't come. Those of you who are here - I want you to succeed; those who are not - well, I want them to do poorly."

My grade 9 geography teacher was a pretty chill guy. That is, assuming you didn’t get under his skin. One time, someone had their feet lying on a chair while he was teaching, and he asked them to put their feet down. They did, and then put their feet back up. After the third time of being asked to put their feet down, my teacher comes over, pulls the chair out from under their feet, and friggin THROWS IT halfway across the room at the garbage can, then continues with the lesson. My grade 9 science teacher was an interesting one as well. He often had a smug attitude and talked down to the class like they were a bunch of idiots (which, to be fair, they were), and sometimes he could be heard from way down the halls if he had his door open. He also looked like George Lopez, so he was basically Mr. Electric from Sharkboy and Lavagirl.

For some reason, my first geography teacher (in my Romanian school) used to go mad when we tried to talk to him right after he had entered the classroom, claiming that we were allowed to do so after starting the class. Seriously, breathing next to his desk before the class started would make him yell at you. My second geography teacher I had last year (in my current school in Germany) was new. And, I think from the fear that we wouldn't take him seriously, refused to EVER smile! I kid you not, he didn't smile ONCE for the whole year we had him before he left to a different school.
