This is the story of how I found out that I have Scleroderma, plus a few other things about my life. Although I do not have Generalized Scleroderma at this point, many other people have horrible, crippling, and life-threatening effects that are far worse than what Scleroderma has done to me. I wanted to make this video because many people with Scleroderma are ashamed of having this disease and many of them are depressed because we are different and because this disease is dangerous. One of my many goals in life is to raise Scleroderma awareness because many people who have the disease do not find out until the effects are irreversible, I also want to try to make the ones who are afflicted by this disease feel less alone in their struggle. I know that when I was first diagnosed I just became lost in my own thoughts and worries about the disease. It can be scary and maddening to be told that you have a disease that is absolutely unique to how fast it progresses and the way that it can affect your body. There is no know cause or cure but if we can become a tighter community that shares all of our experiences then we will be one step closer to more effective treatments. I am excited for the day that scientists figure out the metabolic pathways of Scleroderma, and I believe that those metabolic pathways have a lot to do with trans fat, saturated fat, and excess protein in the diet. I am vegan because animal products are filled with trans fat, saturated fat, Although my Scleroderma has hurt me physically and mentally, I thank having this disease because without it I would not be the person I am today. I will be making more videos about this subject as time goes on but this video was primarily focused on my story.

+Myworldspoken A number of reasons made me wan't to make this video, I wanted to get the word out about Scleroderma as well as veganism, and also to try to let other people with Scleroderma know that they might want to try other methods of treatment through diet first, rather than jumping straight to drugs, steroids, or even chemotherapy in some cases. I will also be talking about other physical conditions that I have but this diagnosis has helped to make me into the person I am today. And I will probably be making more videos and updates on my Scleroderma because after editing the video I realized that I left a lot out, especially for people who know nothing about this disease. I have so many inspirations though, not many with Scleroderma, but many vegans who have overcome medical conditions through simple changes in their diet. And of course I will check out your channel:] I hope that you will continue to watch my videos and maybe subscribe to mine as well! And thank you so much for taking an interest in what I have to say!

Can you make a video on how being vegan has helped with your scleroderma? My nana has it and she told me "nothing can help me, all the doctors have tried. There is no point in eating vegan" so I'm trying to find something to show her that it could help her

+Cassie Giles I would love to and I plan to at some point. But to be honest I broke my camera and I have to save up to buy another one. It might take some time, but when I get another camera I will be vloging a lot more than I was. Thank you for taking an interest in what I have to say though! And I don't have generalized scleroderma (yet), so my condition is not terminal. And I can't promise a cure of course. But by going vegan I have experienced much better digestion and less fatigue than I had before I went vegan. I am very achey and my joints are bad, but before I just had no energy to deal with the pain. If she is to that stage where she wont try anything because she doesn't have the energy to fight, I understand, but even if she didn't have scleroderma and went vegan she would be lengthening her life and the amount of happiness she has while here. Even "healthy" young people who eat the standard american diet are worse off than a cancer patient eating a vegan diet I feel like. So if you have an autoimmune disease like scleroderma, where our cells are attacking our own bodies because we aren't able to decipher what is our own cells and what is foreign, why would you eat flesh, mammary fluid, and hen menstruation from other animals? Animal products arent just bacteria and parasite-ridden, but they also cause an inflamatory response in our bodies because -well I mean it's another animals dead tissue in our body...But they are finding now that like every other disease, some people might have a genetic predisposition to get, say diabetes, but if you dont eat fatty foods you wont get diabetes. Same would go for scleroderma, we have a genetic predisposition to get it, but we don't know what external factor is actually causing it yet. Scientists have also found that people with scleroderma are sensitive and react negatively to higher amounts of trans and saturated fats and excess protein. So, based off of that, a high carb low fat vegan diet would be ideal because all animal products have saturated and trans fats and a lot of protein. Humans are meant to eat sugar, fruit, starch, that is what we crave and that is also what gets us through winters. The vegan diet has no trans fat at all and you can limit your saturated fats and protein further by eating carb-rich foods. They are also easier to digest and give you more energy because every cell in our body runs on glucose. So basically what I am saying is that if nana stops eating the stuff that will cause her to have inflamation/ autoimmune response, then the scleroderma wont get worse, and her symptoms will improve. I am really sorry about the camera though:/ and I hope you and your nana are healthy and happy!

+Gabriella Zalar thank you so much! It's good to get a word from someone who has the same symptoms as she does because I don't physically understand how she is and who wants to take advice from someone who technically doesn't understand? Thanks for responding so quickly also!!!👌🏼

No problem:) I wish I could do more, I really feel bad about breaking my camera:/ but I'm glad you asked! Its difficult having scleroderma because there isn't much conventional medicine can do yet. And I actually feel that scleroderma (and most other diseases) can be so closely related to dietary habits that it could be completely prevented through a HCLF vegan lifestyle. Of course it wont make the discoloration go away or the damage that has been done, but it will help you to heal that damage and prevent more from happening. Just remember that a low inflammation diet is key to feeling less pain and having the sclero spread less. Thank you both again for messaging me:3.
