This is the apartment I purchased in Scalea, Italy, which is a beach town in Calabria. It has 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, 2 balconies, 1 garage, & 1 parking space. It's walkable to the train station, city center, and beach. The purchase price was 64,000 euros (about $70,000). I used a home equity line of credit (off my home in the U.S.) to make this purchase, so I paid cash for it when I was in Italy. I will make monthly payments here in the U.S. to pay it off.
I am having the entire interior painted, the bathroom completely redone, and the tile in the kitchen replaced. I have already purchased my new kitchen, which will be delivered once the renovations are completed. As you may already know, it is very common for homes in Italy to have no kitchen when they are sold. Kitchens are like furniture pieces and can be moved. They are very affordable too. Depending on the size and what's included, you can get an entire kitchen (including sink, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, and microwave) for a couple thousand dollars.
