Its for sure a thing that people are switching to for comp use. The little gr86 bodies are fun to drive but everyone and their moms is driving them haha
They are intense but everyone is still pretty respectful. It might look aggressive but most of the guys know each other and it really feels like a mutual respect for the competition. People are definitely pushing hard though, and a bit jumpy haha. The earlier day practice is usually much more calm, but the intermission between qualifying and bottom 16 practice is chaotic.
I just bought a Yokomo SD2.0 as my first drift car. Watching your channel has me excited about getting into drifting ( coming from a RC racing background ). Keep up the videos.
Welcome! Im glad you enjoyed it and thank you for the kind words! Its honestly been the most fun Ive had in the RC hobby since I started. I started racing 2wd buggy when I was a senior in high school in 2012 and took a break about 4 years ago. So getting into this side of the hobby has been a huge learning curve but so fun! Your gonna really enjoy the SD2.0!
Thank you! I’m running a hobby wing xd10 13.5t combo, with a yokomo v4 gyro and a power hd servo. I plan on upgrading the servo at some point down the road🤘🏼
@@SeanLewisMediasorry for that late reply but 2wd buggy 17.5 (going to 21.5 maybe) and 2wd sct 13.5 i even tried drift cars twice and liked em alot just dont have to money for em but both times ive drivne em i shocked the owners of both cars so maybe i have some hidden talent
Thats awesome! When I first started drifting about 6 months ago the guys at the shop asked if I ever raced and I said yeah. They told me the guys that come from racing always do great at drifting. Its all the control learned from racing. Especially in close close tandems the throttle control is huge. I ran 2wd stock buggy and 4wd stock buggy and miss it haha @@donavinmoller2432
15:12 I noticed that throughout this straight you are getting a lot of shaking in the steering. This might possibly be causing you some controllability issues. Have you noticed this shaking yourself and if it is causing any noticeable issues? Also, what gyro are you running?
I actually had a bad crash into an exposed wall about 30 minutes before the comp started and I couldn’t get it fixed in time so this whole night was plaques with steering issues. I’m running a yokomo v4 gyro currently. I’m actually still trying to fix my steering issues a month later
Hello Sean could you give a pinion size staring point for a yokomo with a 80t spur? It looks like the manual is saying 24t pinion is standard and recommends others based on conditions.
That should be correct! I’m running an 18t pinion but I believe I have a 84 tooth spur so it works out slightly differently. The best way to figure out what is best is called the FDR, but it’s a bit hard to figure out. I would follow the manual for now and ask around locally if you have a track. If not learning about fdr is a great way to dive deeper and really figure it out. I hope this helps!
Hey Sean, I’ve been trying to get into RC drifting. Do you have any advice on what car to purchase and if you could tell me about a certain brand that has a good rep that’d be great. Great content btw
Thanks for the compliment and yes I’d love to help. I think yokomo is my personal favorite but there are a few great options to choose from. A lot of people in the competitive scene run Yokomo based cars with 3rd market upgrades. It just depends on where you want to start. Have you built other kits and planning to go that route or are you looking for a rtr?
@@SeanLewisMedia I’ll check out Yokomo but I’ve never had an rc car that isn’t a kids rc car toy. I have tested out a 1/10 E36 at house of hobbies but it’s very expensive and there’s no drift tracks for 1/10 or even 1/12 where I live. There might be one but i don’t know where.
@@KEPOedits Your best would probably a yokomo rd 1.0 rtr or the mst rmx 2.5 rtr. Those are both good options for 1/10. The yokomo isn’t as good as the mst rmx 2.5 out of the box but has more parts that can be upgraded over time.
@@KEPOedits That would be awesome! Everything you start learning from here on out is gonna help you accomplish that goal! Have fun picking out a car! If you have any more questions let me know. I’ve got a couple videos on my rtr when I got it from about 7 months ago you can check out to. I started with a yokomo rtr
