This is a LONG video my friends so feel free to watch the entire thing or use the provided chapter markers to jump to the part you want to see most. Don't forget to hit the description for all links to plugins + other videos mentioned throughout. Cheers! 🍻
Great vid! 👍 I waited PATIENTLY for this one an it helped greatly!! This has taught me my problem know lies with getting my vocals to cut thru bassy 2 track instrumentals an trying to get them to sound loud an not harsh when competing with commercial sound 😔
Thank you for the inspiration on this one! I think you’ll greatly benefit from this video I did awhile ago to solve your problem: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KU2EIMA35e4.html
I don’t typically record EverythingOShauN, he does that on his own. I believe they’re using a Neumann TLM103 running into an Avalon 737 preamp but I may be wrong
Do you really have to have so many plugins and a so complicated mix to have great vocals or is it just what it takes to achieve that pro sound we yearn for ? Thanks
I don’t think so. I have a lot of plugins but I generally rely on the same 10-15. I could get most mixes done with even less if I had to, but I do prefer some tools over others. As they say, it’s the EAR not the GEAR. Start with a small set of tools, learn how to use them well and then expand to fill in any gaps as needed. Here’s a slept-on video I did about my top picks: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eTqUyd1Tn3s.html
I feel like it does add a certain character to whatever you apply it to, very subtly. It has different curves (American, British, Soviet etc) that also alters the sound. That being said, I find it to be very smooth and musical, hence why I reach for it often!
