This is seriously the sweetest act of kindness from one you tuber to another. I hope somehow she sees this video and it warms her heart as much as it warmed mine. 😭💕
Someone posted about this video in Jenna and Julien’s Discord and a bunch of people are giving the post attention in hopes they will see it, Julien also streams on Twitch tonight so I’m sure the message will get to them. It was very kind of you to attempt to thank her for the shoutout while being aware of how your actions could have been seen as trying to get her info, also your support of her stepping away from the internet is sweet. Yet more reasons why I’m a fan of yours!
@@jayded1326 im sure if she did, it would be in a way that the public would never know. Shes sneaky and creative! For all we know Miss Minka could be Jenna in disguise.
Even though it’s not purple, I think she’ll still absolutely love it! Having such a rare unicorn plant, no matter what it looks like, would be so amazing🤩 you are so so kind and I love your channel!
I saw a bunch of plant posts on his IG story today and for a second I was confused because I thought it was one of the many “houseplant accounts” I follow on there lol. I love it!
I think this comes at such a good time. Julien was pretty upset the other day and hopefully this shows them that there are still good people on this platform that support each other.
Between you and Jenna, I recently discovered my love for houseplants. I’m about to get a bit personal here, but 2020 really took it out of me.. I was blessed enough to actually keep my job and continue working as normal since everything across the globe shut down (I’m a police officer in the US). So between the craziness of 2020 & dealing with being a first responder during difficult times, my mental health hit a very dark and scary rock bottom. I’m not sure exactly when my obsession with houseplants began last year, but I think I was just missing Jenna Marbles’ light and funny content and started re-watching a lot of her old videos as a pick-me-up one evening when I was feeling down. Her house plant tour video just made me feel SO relaxed and calm.. and I went down a rabbit hole on the Internet and discovered you and so many other creators and people who are passionate about plants. I discovered this lovely little community on social media and the rest is history 🥰. When I say I’ve become obsessed with caring for/collecting houseplants... I mean I’ve quite literally turned an entire bedroom in my house into a greenhouse (shelving, humidifier, lights, the WHOLE SET UP) 😂🙈🙈🙈. My plants have been therapeutic to me and, not to be dramatic, but I feel deep down this “obsession” of mine has seriously saved my life... They give me something to nurture and love. And for the most part, it is the most pure, simple relationship I’ve ever had with another living thing. I love them and care for them and do the best I can, and in return, they do the best they can as well. They grow right along with me. It’s like my plants are on my journey to healing right alongside me. They literally give me a reason to look forward to getting out of bed in the morning. So all of this is to say, I’m so grateful I found this corner of RU-vid. I’m unable to have my own children so my plants are my *babies* for real lol. Thank you for inspiring me and making SO many videos that have educated me on the ins and outs of the houseplant world. Stay safe and healthy💕 Here’s to better times ahead!
Honestly, Jenna has such a warm soul, she would very likely be so appreciative of your lovely attempt to get her that lovely plant. I wouldn't be surprised if Julen reached out to you in regards to this. Bless your wee heart 💚
i cant tell how good it feels to know something about jenna. i really feel like somebody is telling me news from a friend who is somewhere far from here and who i loved so much. Thank u Kaylee❤
for real when you announced a Jenna Marbles fail video i was riddled with anxiety thinking you had beef with our queen, i could not have been more delightfully wrong this video was so wholesome. what a thoughtful gift, i’m sure the gesture is reward enough!!
I do too! but I don’t think she will because regardless of what happened with all the accusations about what she did in the early 2000’s (which I do agree some of what she did can now very much be seen as offensive but she’s grown as a person and acknowledged what she did wasn’t ok and I think people were too quick to attack her) I think RU-vid just wasn’t for her anymore you know. After doing it for years and years it just became something that she wasn’t interested in and couldn’t find joy in anymore. Anyways that’s just my opinion and I do hope she could possibly come back some day too :)
@@jacobhicks7319 I think the reason Jenna was ‘canceled’ was because of a combination of the BLM movement gaining traction again and causing a wider discussion about racism, Shane Dawson’s and Jeffree Star’s cancellation causing a wider discussion about influencers being problematic, and the pandemic making it so that people had nothing other to do then to cancel influencers online over things they did a decade ago.
@@theplantprodigy2010 yes I completely agree with that as well. that’s what I was trying to allude to in the parentheses portion. I think it’s a combination of both.
I just got done watching Julien’s latest meme review, which had old footage of him and Jenna, and then I saw this. And now I’m thoroughly feeling withdrawal. I miss Jenna SOOOOL much 😭
I recently saw that plant at a local nursery greenhouse in Aus. It wasn't big yet but it was super purple and was flowering too. Immediately thought of you and Jenna.
Columnea gloriosa is actually available in the nursery scene here in Australia. Its affordable at around 20 dollars for a plant. The leaves are the typical purple brown rather than the green seen in the video.
It’s beyond the sweetest for what you’ve tried to do for Jenna😌 I wish it worked out in your favor but I feel the thoughtfulness is just as wholesome as the gift :)
I loved this style of video! I also daydream about growing Jenna this plant and delivering it to her but the chances of that actually happening are slim lol. Amazing vid!
I was one of the many people who came here via Jenna, I was just starting to keep plants at the same time so it was perfect. Also I was immediately sold by your energy and presentation, so glad to have found this channel. I like to think Jenna is able to just chill with her plants and dogs and do crafts and that makes me happy. It's good to see a youtuber openly supporting her decisions and this story was so sweet!
It's really apparent that finally there's some peace and quite - even a little bit - that little bit that was needed to get you in the mood to talk about other great things that happened or happening. I just love this.
Hello from Australia, i have something similar thats my grandma always called a lipstic plant; fuzzy leaves, fish tail pattern, hanging with red orange flowers turns a deep red maroon when sun stressed however when it doesn't get enough light the new growth is a yellowish lime green
I was having a really crummy morning... I am now having a substantially less crummy morning. Thank you Kaylee, this genuinely put a smile on my face when I've been trying to pull myself out of a rut all morning
Apparently the purple plant is Columnea gloriosa purpurea as opposed to the standard the standard green form of the goldfish plant, which I think is Columbia gloriously Sprague
I love watching you and Jenna! That was really sweet of you!! I think the plant is commonly called Goldfish plant. I’ve never had one, but it’s fairly common here (Philippines) they’re a mix of green and orange. And the texture of the leaves are kind of like lipstick plants. It wasnt probably shipped well.
Yes! I new this plant would get popular eventually. It’s amazing. My favorite. It’s called “columnea gloriosa cv. super ba”. It sunstresses very easy. It can go from dark purple to a more orangey burgundy color. It is a gesneriad, like an African violet so you cannot get the leaves wet. It is extremely easy to propagate. I fixed my stringy one to be a more fuller plant. It’s doing a lot better now.
Your heart was in it, and that means so much. Jenna seems like the kind of person who would see that. The effort and determination is the gift even if the plant doesn’t turn out. I love that you tried and that’s why I love your channel so much, it’s the care you have for plants and people who love them.
that was such a sweet thing to try and do for her! I’m sorry it never worked out. it’s so sad that Jenna had to leave RU-vid but she did what was best for her and we can only wish her the best! thanks for the video
Hi Kaylee! I don‘t know if this is a thing or just photoshop magic but there might be a variety called „Columnea Gloriosa Purpurea“ that seems to be what you and Jenna are looking for. I am no plant expert but I just loved the way that plant looked and did some googling... Thanks for the great content, you already saved some of my plants from being mistreated! 😆
this is such a gorgeous story- even though it didn't turn out the way that you wanted to. I am absolutely positive that Jenna would deeply appreciate this. You're a beautiful soul xx I really do hope that jenna finds out about this and maybe...just maybe the plant ends up in her amazing houseplant home
I have one of these plants and they are somewhat easy to get in Australia for a really small one. I can confirm it is pretty dark, almost black. Though in my experience it has to be an outdoor plant because all the leaves fall off if it doesn’t get enough light. It has also been a bit tricky to grow.
Such a sweet story!! Jenna was my first intro into plants. We def miss her Virgo energy on the Tube 😭😭😭 I missed the podcast where she spoke of your channel! I hope she sees this and gets the plant 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 thanks for sharing!
Hi! I think the purplish color is a specific cultivar. Columnea gloriosa cv Superba. Those leaves seam to be blackish purple at baseline. The normal "goldfish plant" is fairly available here in the southeast USA, but I've never seen it get that hue. And from what I understand, they prefer moderate indirect light. So maybe bright indirect brings out more purple in the Superba, but it doesn't seem like a plant that's as receptive to excess light as many hoyas are. Anyway, love your channel. You definitely helped inspire my passion for plants! I'm so glad you're into hoyas now too! I love my aeroids but there are so many I can't afford and they take up so much space. Compact little (for the most part) hoyas allow me to have a bazillion 😂 I'm @enby_md on instagram, if you're interested, genuinely no pressure!
that's the goldfish plant?? Looks so different in the photo, those guys are at like all my nearby nurseries for around $15 per 6" hanging basket. It looks a lot more full and bushy though so I didn't make the connection. I have never seen the Superba, and now I want it haha
Is it me or do most videos start with an apology about the set, equipement or content choice or something.... 🤔 everything always look so great, sound fine and nice content. Please dont feel bad if theirs something wrong or apologies for it. We'll never know with editing.
I started watching you because of Jenna. I really miss her. It has been so weird without her. I cannot imagine what she went through and I just hope she is doing well. I think it is so cool that you tried so hard to do this for her.
Columnea Gloriosa is not hard to find in Australia. They are dark and fuzzy. The ones in your photo looked like Columnea microphylla but I could be wrong. I have one, they lose leaves when they get moved. They are beautiful too with maroon fuzz :)
It’s wild watching this video in the “future” lol. I looked up the plant and it’s know now as goldfish plant. They’re everywhere near me and pretty popular because I think they’re supposed to be safe for pets. I’ve never seen a large mature one though, very pretty!
Ma’aaaaam. Why am I crying? Such a sweet sentiment. As a plant lover, I know if you’d gotten that plant for me, I would have been thrilled!! I hope Jenna gets her plant and I hope it makes her smile.
Are you by any chance planning on doing a video about solely using Lechuza Pon without the potting mix? Since i've recently repotted some of my plants in Lechuza pon with no potting mix, and was wondering if this was a good choice of mine. Thanks, loved the video by the way! :)
That's a really nice thing that you tried to do! Three times! I really wish Jenna would see it, and I'm sure she will! Even if she manages to stay off all social media I doubt all of her friends do, and if there is a way to rich her, your followers and her fans will find it! Come on, internet, I believe in you!
Thats a sweet idea but I dont think that either of myself or any of my followers should do that. Jenna has made the decision to stay offline so we should respect her boundaries. This video was only really meant to serve the purpose of telling a weird story. I wish Jenna well but let's not attempt to contact Jenna or Julien. ❤
@@KayleeEllenOfficial You tired so hard, it's sad to think she would never find out about it and I'm sure she would be touched... But it's your channel and your decision and I respect that. Let's NOT try to contact Jenna or Julien then!
We actually told Julien about it. This is so adorable and I’m sure Jenna would appreciate the fact that you even tried so hard to find the plant for her.
They do come in purple (although not as bright - but sun stress would help...). Pretty sure the one you received is a different type of trailing goldfish plant (as its very green), Mine has fine velvet purple hairs on the leaves similar to Gynura aurantiaca, and they can come "variegated" with orange/tan spots - its inside and not super close to a window but still displays this colouring. They drop leaves prolifically when knocked about... in Australia theyre not common, but you can find them in most Boutique style nurseries
This video reminded me that Jenna Marbles is the reason why I came to this channel and the reason why I finally took the plunge into the houseplant hobby. I was totally convinced that I had a black thumb, but after seeing her tour, I was like 'I mean if she can do it with her full life, I bet I could too'. I adore this hobby so much. I wouldn't be where I am in the hobby without these two awesome ladies.
I surprisingly found one of these at my local nursery and I wanted to get it so bad because it's beautiful and reminds me of Jenna but I was sure I wouldn't be able to keep it alive
I think they are mostly sold as seeds to be honnest. Especially if it is a pure species plant. I do not think any of the gesneriads are toxic at all. But an amazingly sweet thing to do for her.
Jenna is such a loving and kind person that I know she would have been over the moon and grateful to receive the plant no matter the condition. Because that's the type of person she is. Just the gesture would have meant the world to her.
I literally found your channel through Jenna! Really hope she and the plant find each other somehow. I don’t have the plant but know someone who does and he said it gets purple from sun stress.
Jenna might really want the plant because you went thru a lot to find it for her. Sentimental reasons. I saw Pam's video of what you sent her the other day. She was so surprised and happy. It's so nice that you and Pam are friends. You both have the best videos.
i just googled the plant and there are tons of pictures of a "columnea gloriosa purpurea".. which has dark leafes. Maybe you just got the wrong "type"..?
That's such a cute story, such a kind heart . Now I hope someone sees the video and let's Jenna know, so she can finally be United with her dream plant 😁
Love Jenna and miss her terribly, but I sincerely hope she is doing much better now. I suggest we get this video and info sent to Julien so he can show Jenna and determine if they want to accept it 😊
I thought if no one had the plant it was pretty hard to care for. I have always liked houseplants but Jenna's video resparked my interest, so I got my first plant a ZZ and now I have a decent collection.
@kaylee Ellen two years later and I really hope the message eventually got to Jenna! This was such a nice thing to do and if she's still interested in plants, we all know that even a cutting of "that" plant we want is greatly appreciated! When it's "the" plant, perfection isn't necessary, especially when it was just such a sweet gift.
I'm really surprised how different the plant in the original picture looks compared to the ones that were shipped. I wonder if it's a specific variety or cultivar that has that coloring and leaf shape.
