Great video. Even though there's lots of talented pianists these days, most don't know how to write and there's an unfortunate oversaturation of non-idiomatic, transcriptive, unoriginal piano covers on this site. Incredibly rare to find a truly good arrangement, and hopefully people like you can change that. So many people could learn so much from this!!

Really, hard to find? Ttry some of this. They are very different so if you don't like one, just move on: :-) Radnich, Pirates Forever: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-I4GXUrYtEzY.html Jacob Koller, Lupin the 3rd, four hand jazz arrangement: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-a9QofW0mf4w.html This is not an arrangement, but an original piece, in kind of a contemporary classical style, if you will (this is awesome, MHO, and so is this all around pianist, Hayato Sumino including touring classical and major label recordings, there is a LOT of good stuff on his channel): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ED0G_Vm9vMA.html Here is some Hiromi, first, and then a collab between Chick Corea and her, dueling pianos, so to speak. For the first one fasten your safety belt, and I don't know how anybody could watch her play without smiling: She is moving so fast in parts of this one that you can't even really see what she is doing, the 30hz refresh rate isn't keeping up, fingers are just a blur. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3Nlb06QYLvA.html This is Corea's Spain, improved with Hiromi. The entire concert is very much worth seeing, but this will give you a taste. When the world lost Chick, it lost something. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BRU1o-sCnqY.html You need to look harder, there is TONS of it.

Lovely arrangement! 5:40 I agree so much. Pop songs melody lines are generally not super interesting to be played as they are on an instrument. Definitely need to make them "organic" to the instrument they are played on. ^^ I rarely comment, but just wanted to say I love watching (lurking) your videos a lot. Take care!

what a rich approach - without being too cheesy, it gives a Burt Bacharach after-hours feel, especially the first full chord melody you introduced. I'm not a pop fan, but this sort of translation proves there can be good compositional gems hidden behind the pop.

Beautiful, Nahre!! I'd really love to do this kind of arranging for wind quintet. I've gotten quite good at making faithful versions of existing song arrangements, but I rely on songs with similar instrumentation to pull that off, and it just doesn't feel all that creative. I think the world would benefit from something like a "Kate Bush Fantasy for Wind Quintet" 🤔

I really like it that there finally are pianists who are able to do music on their own, not just playing the composers virtuosic but nothing else. Although I think that in order to reach such a great quality in which you do improvise/play your own things, it's necessary to have learned and understood the classic piano masters. Then you can use what you learned by them for yourself. I hear a lot of Debussy and Ravel in your arrangement. Great job!
@kenkinnally6144
@kenkinnally6144 2 года назад
Have to play the contrarian here. Is it true that "there finally are pianists who are able to do music on their own, not just playing the composers" etc. Or are you just finding out about them? I don't mean to seem dismissive but what have jazz pianists been doing for the last 100+ years?
@simf7563
@simf7563 2 года назад
@Ken Kinnally I must add the word "classical". In most universities and music-schools the training is narrowed down to performing the works of composers. Even Nahre Sol says so: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yDjI8iphbhU.html or ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FOkgrfemsuU.html Jazz-Pianists usually don't improvise in other styles than in Jazz-Styles. Of course there are some who can do, but they rather are the exeption than the standard.

Nahre, do you know how come some pianos can sound so nice, such as this one: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Ng9aNlyhWUU.html she said she is using a Yamaha MOX8, which probably is along the line of MODX8. The same goes for Nord Piano 5... it just sounds nice. My theory is that they take the samples by somebody who has played the piano for 25, 30 years, and then even when a person who has played a piano for 3 months, the piano gives out those sound samples, so it sounds good no matter what

Can you please make a video about how to do a piano version of song which sounds exactly like the song, just like the impression of the song? Like whenever the bass is played in the song, there should be same bass notes in the piano. I'm actually doing a song of A.R.Rahman called 'Tum Ho' on piano. I can be original in my way but I would still prefer the essence of the song to be heard on piano. How to really figure out what extended chords the song contains. I know there are so many instruments in a song which are then mixed to sound good. But is there anyway, or approach of rearranging it in a piano (that is also playable using hold pedal) as well as keeping the blueprint of the original song. I lack enough knowledge about arrangement but I can tell when a particular bar is not sounding like the original idea. I'm aware that playing the same chords is not enough. The piano should also have the same rhythmic flow, motifs and under-melodies but as soon as try that, there is something which feels missing.
