I have wanted a son as a first born and 2 daughters later on. I hope he is as strong, respectable as this man. I hope my girls are as loyal as his sisters. Amen.

Notice how the wife's story had a copious amounts of "I want I want I want" in the original story stood out to me. Nothing about the kids, of the family's she broke up, nothing about the ap's EX WIFE. I she actually cared about any of these people she would do whatever she could FOR THEM to make it right. Not just bombard people with "I'm sorry" like this is an after school special where saying I'm sorry magically rebuilds a burnt down house.

Honestly I don’t care what anyone says about the guy, to me that man will be such an outstanding citizen. The fact that he grew up in the ghetto and tried to build a better future for his children and was successful. Now while I may have not been in a prison I’ve been in a psych ward so I only got a very small taste of what being in a prison would be and let me tell you it’s not fun. Being constrained to just one area and being unable to leave whenever you want to, like having your freedom taken away and you can only just look at the windows looking at the outside world hoping that you could leave and enjoy the outside world. So badly wanting to leave and slowly loosing your mind but trying to mentally keep your sanity because you know just freaking out and having an outburst will directly lead to you only prolonging your stay. I could only imagine how much worse all of that would be with having to worry about your safety by possibly being injured in your sleep or honestly any time of the day. In the psych ward there was at least some level of concern with our safety, as I had a roommate who looked like he might try something and I didn’t get much sleep the first night and I was allowed to change roommates. In prisons the guards could hardly care and if there’s a physical altercation they’d be slow to react at least from what I heard. The husband going through all of that and still being able to make funny banter with his children is just incredible and I could only admire the kind of will he must’ve had not let the horrors of prison show in front of his children. Just as a show of badassary the husband getting stabbed and then making sure the guy who stabbed him regretted his decision by crushing his spine is just so fricking badass, definition of a guy refusing to go without a fight.

The guy was in a gang, as per the son, for much of his teenage years. Lost his dad and got clean, and had a happy life until that POS wife and AP ruined it. He knew how to hurt people.

that's exactly how I see it too. let's be honest she most likely never planned on ending the affair that night, that was just her excuse as to why he had come over in the first place. if she had really been planning on ending it, she could have done so over the phone and blocked him. tldr, she never legitimately planned on ending the affair until she was caught and needed some excuse as to why they were fucking in her and her ex's bed. this is why I never plan on marrying or even dating anyone.

I've also noticed the stark contrast between both the mom and the son's response. The son seems to genuinely care and be worried about his siblings and dad. The mother on the other hand is just "I want, I want", as if she only wants to be forgiven and not take any responsibility.

Yeah, when I first started reading Reddit stories. I used to believe the OPs most of the time, but there are some stories where they are clearly in the wrong and sometimes distort facts or are delusional in denial.

Once heard a story about a co-worker flirting and fucking a mans wife. Said co-worker had a wife hidden away and OP found her. I think it's probably obvious about how the sentencing went. The husband was MOC (Puerto Rican) and the victim (AP) was most likely a YT. So, do the math... The AP had the arrogance and superiority of a YT for a MOC/POC.

No matter how “justified” his rage was, ex husband was doing right by turning himself in and had to undergo some jail time, but 5 years is a bit excessive and seeing how compliant he behaved right after his outburst ended, he should have received a lesser punishment.

Yes the biggest problem was that the ex-husband didn't get a proper lawyer bc the ex-wife thought her character testimony would do anything. Emotional appeal does nothing in court.

I don't know if any of you picked up on this, but the isolation starting from immediately after made her legitimately crazy to the point of delusional. The type of isolation she went through for literal years, was counterbalanced by dad's familial support. She is not, and will never be okay again...

I know a woman who killed a guy in a road rage case and got only 7 years. The ex husband got screwed since the ex wife didn't use the savings to hire a good lawyer or just keep her mouth shut and not reveal the duration of the affair.

I think even with the divorce, there's no closure for her; she tried to send letters and see him. I don't know if she can accept it yet but it will happen since her ex is with OBS and they're expecting a kid together. I've been commenting trying to express the same thing. You have a much better way with words my friend. I've messed up and betrayed people close to me in the past (nowhere near as bad as this thankfully) and it took a lot of work to earn back their trust. So the idea of desperately wanting to just talk and have some sort of relationship with those you care about, only for those people to push you away, genuinely terrifies me. As such, for all the evil she committed (and doesn't necessarily deserve forgiveness for) I can't help but have some sympathy for OP

Still, she deserves this. This part of me that has even a sliver of sympathy is only a flicker. There's a code I love by, and many others would agree. Cheaters and traitors are not welcome in the family. You have one real chance. You fuck it up, there's no way all that trust can come back. There will always be doubt, suspicion, and resentment. I too, like you, find it sad for o.p. while admitting his faults. I believe in second chances if there is the feeling of the betrayed person, a feeling that is definitively lost especially after learning that ex op and ex ap will have a child together. perhaps if there hadn't been a fight, reconciliation could have been attempted over time. everyone except the AP liked me, he took advantage of a weak and insecure woman, knowing it.

For my part I think that 90% of these stories are false or modified from reality, I'm almost sure I have already heard this story where the ap and op were not caught at home but at the op's work. I can't even understand how op's testimony at the trial contributed to the heavy sentence, and how she could have had the power to choose a lawyer instead of her husband and his relatives. I don't know the American justice system well but it's strange to get a prison sentence. 7 years without extenuating circumstances, strange coincidence that his brother worked at the same prison and had the power to transfer him to a safer unit and that he behaved well after breaking an inmate's back. Finally, the relationship with the former AP complete with son seems more intended to dramatize the story than it was.
