I started watching you and your original dorm tours as a freshman in high school. Now I’m a college freshman in a dorm of my own. Absolutely bonkers how fast time flies :)
Since John is back in college and its his last year, wouldn't it be ideal to have a day in his life? It has also been a long time since he has made these types of videos. Although John makes spectacular videos in front of the camera, I think people would also like to see videos of this type or similar ones. By the way, really good video John.
So glad to see you back John! For future videos idea, maybe you could revisit some ideas from your older videos (around limiting cell phone use, productivity, etc.) and compare how your thoughts/feelings on these have evolved over the years? Also a new “day in a life” for you as a Harvard Senior would be dope!!
I can tell you've matured alot in these past years. I remember watching you while I was still in High school. Now im in College in Computer engineering and you are still inspiring me to keep goin till this day!
Watching your videos always makes me want to be productive and it really makes me feel I can do better (even though I am not doing good rn) They just give me a sense of security that I can get my life together thank you!
So funny how you were my inspiration senior year of high school preparing for college. Now we are both seniors at the same year in this strange new world!
I personally can't wait for everything to be back to normal. The online world is definitely important and something that I hold dear, but the ineffectiveness of online learning (atleast here in the Philippines) makes it hard to actually learn and enjoy university. As an architecture student who relies on workshops and on-site learning, I am desperate for face-to-face classes.
I’m in a new part of my life. I am transfer student. I’m attending University of Florida and this is my first year and I’m trying to find that balance of schoolwork and social life. Some days are good, and some depressing. But seeing John back in Harvard is nice to see and like the decorations and vibe of his dorm.
Unfortunately, I decided to put college on hold for now. I thought I could do another year of all online classes but I guess not. I need to be in that social atmosphere of being on campus. If the school lets me, I am going to take a hybrid course half in class half at home. However, I missed the deadline so I am going to wait. It's alright though. I am not in the right headspace like, I thought I was and have plenty here to keep busy until then.
I really dislike the return to physical classrooms. I do much better when I’m studying and learning in the privacy of my own room. Also, being a math major, most mathematics ends up being self-taught, for better or worse.
Hey John, when I was a freshman in college you really became an older brother figure for me. now i’m a sophomore in college (because i took a year off during the pandemic) and you’re finishing up and it just feels wild haha. sending love
I just did overall 6 months on campus classes on uni before the pandemic hit us and everything shifted on online. I really miss the new beginning that i thought I would have experienced but I guess this is my new beginning. In my uni things are still happening online so that's a bummer again idk things just feels so mundane and the lecture quality just feels so boring and degraded. I am still coping up I hope my 3rd year in uni goes well just started my classes a week ago. And to anyone who needs to hear this "YOU WILL DO JUST FINE BELIEVE IN YOURSELF" All the very best!!!!!!
ngl, I have been neglecting the digital world (yes, "the social dilemma" inspired me too, don't @ me) but as we return to some normality, I absolutely value being away from my screens, I only ever check in with people so we can hang out irl or if I can't see them for whatever reason. very excited to return back to uni!
Calming place like yours is a must for college. well done. and If you dont mind me asking, are you comfortable with that iPad for your kinda tasks in your degree, or you sometimes have to keep a mac by your side?
I was on cloud 9 when I finished my degree years ago! All that internal and external pressure was gone. I was happy when I went back to study psychology and historyI like Business in terms of the marketing, researching, and psychology but there was a lot of dryness!
I am also graduating college this year; actually this fall is my final term! I feel both excited and scared facing the real world, but I always try to keep my optimism up. ☺️
You're looking good John! Your mannerisms stand out and are very pleasant. Continue making more videos so we can gain some insight into what you're doing!
Always enjoy your vid because I’m the same age as you and also have interest in psychology, I will always keep watching just to follow your step, get inspired,or have a good time feeling connected, growing together!😊
Heey John, great video! Only a little petition: could you link that sweet wallpaper of your iPad? The one with the blue paint swirl. Would really appreciate! ;)
Hello John, super good to see you being active again! Did you have to do a thesis for your degree? I live in Hungary and I did my degree a year ago, and had to do a thesis. It was fun to be honest, even wrote a scientific article on the topic I was researching.
Since we don't really have the campus life in Germany there's nothing claim any tests if you're vaccinated. Also we don't know if we have presence class or online ..2weeks from now the semester starts... Also: In Germany we don't pay money to live on the campus...more the state provides money for people from lower social classes for living and studying like credit but you only have to pay back 10.000€ at maximum..so my whole 6years at university cost 10.000 after I get 700€ per month to look for a flat and everything else..so I often look sceptical towards the us and the debts you make going to university..
Hey John! I LOVE your videos!!! It's so great to see another one from you. I'm wondering why you're in a "dorm" in your senior year, though? I thought most people live in apartments with kitchens, or even houses off-campus when they are juniors or seniors? Regardless, yours looks super cozy, so no worries! :).
I heard the same thing about plants in the psychology class I took in Winter semester. I always wanted a chia pet but I am just having a hard time on where to put it if i get it!
Question: To date 27 Sept 2021, how does Harvard regulate non-affiliate visitations? In other words for the large or small tutor groups or frequent tourists visiting the Yard, what is Harvard doing to safeguard students, faculty, and staff? Frequent testing of students is fine but if random strangers or tourists are allowed on campus grounds and entry into some of the buildings, how is that safe for anyone?
During pandemic, the Internet is essential, not just relevant. Then again, you gotta mind your responsibility. Btw I have a Mac, but been thinking about using non-Mac laptop on the side. Just to see how I find both different. Any recommendation? Whatever is good for CS student.
Have you watched Andrew Huberman podcast on sleep? It's the second episode of his podcast, and he goes into a lot of useful practices that I think you would find beneficial, given how much emphasis you put on good sleep in this video.
