Oh Em gee. Here I am over here complaining about finding enough space to sew in an 800sqft tiny home. Bless you!

Hello Emily, you will never know how much this video changed my life. I have been struggling since May 2020 when I started sewing because I live in a little house, 1675 S/F living space, and I don't have space for a sewing area, (We are a 8 members family). I am so much in love with sewing that I started really looking into selling my house to buy a bigger one, getting heart broken because it is simply not doable. I will use a 6" straight wall in the dinning room to accommodate the sewing and the embroidery machines, also the computer, it must be there because I have to watch videos on RU-vid so I can sew, and eventually a serge machine, and the closet under the stairs will be the storage space for all my sewing supplies. Thank you very much, from the bottom of my heart and God bless you always. Stay safe. THANK YOU RU-vidRS FOR MAKING A DIFERENCE ON OTHER PEOPLES LIFES. From California USA.

This is amazing! Whenever I look for solutions and ideas for small spaces, the space is never actually *small*, it's always what I would consider a medium sized space. I live at my dad's house but my actual living space in my room is 3m x 3m, and as someone who has a lot of hobbies and without space outside of my room for things like my desk or storage, this was lovely to see! I love that built-in table so much, too.

Oh my gosh, this brought back memories! Years ago I sewed many of my own clothes...and we lived in 240 sq. ft. (A travel trailer as my husband’s job was mobile.). I handled my supplies pretty much like you do. Loved it and didn’t think of it as inconvenient. Fast forward after 38 years in a house and we have retired and happily downsized to a 400 sq. ft. rv. I haven’t pared down enough of my supplies and fabric stash that accumulated all those years though. Your video reminded me that it was so much simpler when I had just the machine, a sewing box and few yards of extra fabric, so I’m encouraged to work toward that end. Thank you Emily! You and your home are both adorable.👍😊

You're right. Now that I'm in a house with more space than the apartment, I've accumulated too much stuff, and I don't have time to start and finish a project. This last year 2020, working from home, I was able to finally resize some of the oversize clothes I bought because I loved the print and it was an amazingly low price (cheaper than buying the fabric).

Oh well done. Great video and cute little house. When we lived on a narrowboat onthe UK canals, 5’8” wide by 60’ long, I sewed standing up at the kitchen work top and cut out in the very narrow walk through corridor. It worked fine if I tidied up constantly 😊

Hi Suzanne, I’m in Georgia USA, but discovered several youtube UK narrowboat vlogs a few months ago and have been fascinated by them ever since! I am subscribed to five of the vlogs and check out several others periodically. They are my go-to entertainment almost every evening. Would love to vacation on one and cruise that beautiful country. We are full time rvers in a fairly spacious 37 ft. fifth wheel, but i also sewed a ton when we lived in an 8’x30’ (no slideouts) fifth wheel. Yes, we can make whatever we have work for us.

Love the wall paper in the house! Sewing Tip for Masks - Replace elastic with strips of t-shirt/jersey knit. Just cut a strip of jersey knit at least 3/4 inch wide with the grain and pull the ends, voila, you have stretchy comfy string for elastic and drawstrings!

Emily, you can make any space work with intentionally like you stated . You have made a cozy loving home for your self & hubby. I started a quilting fabric stash and after 20 yrs I had to stop buying and start using up my stash and only buy what I needed to complete a project. And what I have found is that fabric scraps multiply:) lol!!! Blessings to you and your family for 2021!!!

For anyone wondering about cutting large patterns: in my teeny tiny room I usually smooth out as much of the fabric as possible, then fold the rest on one side. I draw the pattern out, moving the fabric as I go, and then cut everything together. Not ideal as a huge table/floor, but I make it work!

I think you are very brave to whittle down your living space to this extent. But, you're still young enough to expand in the future...Thanks for sharing.

Emily! Just found your channel, and you’re a wonderful inspiration. I will be moving to the SF Bay Area for a job change and will not be able to afford the 2 bedroom apartment in which I currently live. I’ve been dreading how am I going to enjoy the 2 things I absolutely love in my life: sewing and playing piano. Living in 1 bedroom apartment and playing piano most likely will disturb my neighbors, so as costly as it is, I’m having a “silencer” mechanism installed so I can play piano using headphones (when the silencer is disengaged, the piano will still be an acoustic piano). As a cellist, you know how important music is in one’s life, and I’m very inspired from your video to keep sewing as well. Thank you so much. Blessings! 😊🙏🏾

I can totally relate. We are full time RV'ers. I had a huge sewing room in our house, with everything I could ever wish for in a sewing room. But!!!!!! We wanted to travel, so that meant downsizing. I kept my sewing machine and some basic supplies, very basic! I have the same love for watching TV as I sew. I can't use a large ironing board but I do have a tiny tabletop one. I use our bed with a cutting board for laying out and cutting. Definitely have to keep up with the pins and needles. Out of everything I had to get rid of, I miss my dress form and my serger. I sold one and gave the other to my daughter. Been thinking very seriously about repossesing it from her. So far 3 years on the road and sewing in our class A motorhome has been working out loved your video and I will subscribe so I can see how you are doing with your sewing in a small place. ✌🏾

I always used a folding cardboard pattern cutting board. (I just looked and the one at Joann’s is a Dritz “Superboard”.) Mine is thick corrugated cardboard and unfolds to make about 3’x5’ fairly solid work surface laid out on my bed or on a table (or an ironing board?). I used scissors to cut my patterns out, but a person could put a self-healing mat on top of it and to be able to use a rotary cutter. It folds up to about 1 1/2” thick and stores easily standing up against one side of my closet wall without taking up hardly any room. Hope this helps someone.😊

behind your sewing machine where you have the masks hanging you could actually put a hanging ironing board that simply folds down from the wall. very convenient. or if you never iron anything large they make an ironing surface out of a wooden t.v. tray you can see them on utube vidios. do you have room for a hassick to put your feet on while watching t.v.? if so you can get one that has storage inside of it for material, fusing interfacing ect. or if you have a coffee table they have them that have insides with tons of room too. lots and lots of options. I like to sit and just watch utube vidios on small spaces and see how other people use spaces and you would be surprised what you could come up with. another one is rv storage they have tons of ideas for storage that would apply to you also. good luck

I thought my house was tiny! You are so well organised, I wish I was the same! I started to learn to play a cello years ago but I got married and moved away. I did, however, already play in a brass band. A tuba because I am profoundly deaf but can feel the notes from such a large instrument. I have retired from banding after 60 years but still enjoy playing a euphonium though the notes are a bit high for me. Have you made a video of you playing? I'd love to see it and all your sewing of course!

My hubby added a upper kitchen cabinet next to our dresser and I have my sewing tools, patterns,... In half of it and the tools & supplies for my jewelry making in the other half. The cutting board is in the closet, the sewing machine sits under my vanity and the extra fabrics I collect (only what will fit into a plastic zippered bag that held a queen size bedding set!) is stored under the bed (typically storage area in motorhomes) I have books (basic ones for reference for the crafts, personal reading and history-reference books for travel) stored in a small built in cabinet in our bedroom & the cookbooks I do have (only basic & special ones) stored in an over the sofa cabinet in the living room (it only takes up 1/3 of the whole cabinet) Hope this helps - just remember, you can always find supplies on the road!
