Thanks for watching today. I thought it would be nice to share with you my thought and ideas on items I potentially would like to make over the next few months. Obviously I more than likely will not be able to make all the items I mentioned 😂🙈

Today I was wearing a Friday Pattern Comoany Davenport dress in viscose fabric I purchased from the rag market in Birmingham.

Try Pattern emporium in Australia for your tank type dress, think it’s called every days a weekend. Kate has lots of amazing casual patterns. Love your videos from the other side of the world 🌎

Wow, that's wonderful that you are going to be a personal trainer. I have such a mindset about making my own clothes and do feel guilty buying ready to wear. I've spent the summer making shorts and dresses for my great nieces, aged 5 and 3. Recently I thought that I would make them leggings, then thought they are so inexpensive to buy, and easy to find. Ha ha, not having much luck finding ready to wear leggings. So I'm going to make them each a few pairs using knit fabric on sale at my local fabric store and also seeing if using a man's extra large inexpensive t-shirt will give me enough fabric. I love your wish list, great way to help you decide what to make. Please finish your jackets. I think with the correct accessories you will end up loving them. Now I'm going to make myself a wish list.

I am not anti RTW. If I could find anything I liked, that suited, and fitted me, I would buy RTW. As it is, that never happens, so I make my own clothes. I have a wish list, too. I have come to realise that I have plans that far exceed the time I have available. I have begun to start sewing seasonally, checking the gaps in my wardrobe and refreshing it with new makes, rather than just making up patterns I like the look of without too much thought, as I have in the past. I am also taking on a few more hefty sews and am enjoying spending more time and not rushing through a list. That boiler suit is going to be fabulous, as is the satin dress. I have made a couple of Mave skirts and have the Shelby on my list, plus my first winter coat.

Angela, I totally agree with you about the feeling guilty when buying ready to wear, but I’m trying to give it a go and last weekend I went shopping with a friend and totally loved it! For me there needs to be a mix. Love your plans particularly the cord boiler suit. Fabulous ❤ good luck with your personal trainer plans xxx

I recommend you look at Pattern Emporium for semi fitted knit dresses. Kate's style is elevated casual. Itch to Stitch has a couple of v-neck banded dresses that might work, or could be hacked to meet your needs for the other inspiration. Thanks for the chat. 😊

A hint for the satin fabric. Put fabric softener in the final rinse when you wash it and it will stop the fabric clinging to you. It’s a stunning colour and you’ll look fantastic in it.

Some great plans Angela. FYI Hovea is pronounced Ho-vee-a (as you did the second time around). Its a flowering shrub or small tree and has purple, blue or mauve flowers with a white centre. Very pretty.

Whilst you were discussing the Derwent trousers my head went to an issue that I have. I’m not a skinny mini, more like a menopausal melting snow man shape… ( I’m a sewing pattern 16/18, I was a 10/12 pre perimenopause) but I really struggle with seeing a patterns brilliance on a really full figure. I don’t think it’s unconscious bias but more of a visual issue. My head can’t negotiate the style lines. I really wish that the pattern cover photo had images of three different size groups and a symbol denoting which body shape the pattern would flatter the most. I’ve found several patterns I’ve been put off by because the model looks frumpy, flirty or too plain. I KNOW it’s MY issue and I know I need to find a relatable image but I’ve found that this is one thing that puts me off so that when I see other people make the pattern it’s like a light bulb moment for me. I’m a very visual person so images I see mean absolutely EVERYTHING. Maybe that is why I have this issue. I just thought you might be interested in this idea as it could have some relevance to why you didn’t find the book inspiring. Maybe you couldn’t see yourself wearing the clothes as they looked on the models compared to how Sarah, for example, looked as she is probably more similar to your body type?

I think I could do with a wish list too because I’m never going to get round to all my sewing ideas! I don’t have many ideas for recreating the jersey dress in the catalogue but off the top of my head maybe the Shirtzie dress by stitch upon a time? Or it looks like the kind of thing Sew Over It would have a pattern for 😊

Buy the rtw if you don’t have time to make the garment or you can’t make it at a similar price is my moto. I have recently bought rtw as you know for work and it felt really nice to do it. It also helps with finding the style and fit that works for you sometimes too. The green needle cord will make a fab flight suit. You still need to pose in those glasses lol!! Fab plans/wish list xx

Your pink nail color is very pretty. Finish your whips first. The green colors are very practical, and the patterns are interesting. The third whip would be a little too much for me in corduroy. I would thrift that instead and make a maxi line A front bottons skirt because it would allow me to wear my boots, but I am older than you, and have less energy, so I am sure you could make a jacket as you wish. I enjoy your explanations.

The Lander Pants pattern is the only sewing pattern I’ve bought in several years and I’ve made so many variations! They’re very comfortable and the adjustments I needed were easy to make (I do have pattern making experience though). The key alteration I made was to make a curved waistband so it doesn’t gape at the back waist and it is so much better. You do you 😊 good luck getting a few great projects made.

I think you look amazing in your Bianca flight suit and that teal colour cord is wonderful! Ruan did a great vlog on bomber jackets - personally I loved the Pauline Alice Russafa which I think would really suit you. Love your style too. I just made the Mika Sweater (Fibre Mood) which is raglan sweatshirt which is also great - very oversized imho but lovely. I so enjoyed this video. Thank you! I’m also very guilty of long lists to make 😂. The knit fabric wrap dress you asked about at the end of your video is almost an exact replica of the Itch to Stitch Antrim dress. I’ve just made one for our summer here in South Africa and it’s a fabulous fit.

It's great to have plans but less overwhelming if it's called a 'wishlist'! I hope you make the jumpsuit in that needlecord, it will be stunning. Hope your re-training studies go well, that's so exciting having a career change. It's interesting to see how our wardrobe needs change when we have life changes - I've recently taken early retirement and it's making me consider what I actually need for this new stage of life! Thanks for an inspiring vlog 😊

Hi Angela. New Look K6301 is a faux wrap front jersey dress you may like. I've also recently made the Lander pants and really like them. Very few fit issues. Love the idea of the bottle green jump suit xx

I plan on doing exactly that, to go with an aninal print skirt i have just made. How great that youve found patterns for your favourite joe browns design....thats just perfect. Great vlog as always. I have just bought the Amelia pattern am going to mark it soon in a Chanel type fabric. Love your coatigan fabric that colour is so trendy for the winter this year. I’m with you I still buy RTW especially jumpers. I made a rib jersey black dress last year McCalls M7999 great ideas to style it thank you for sharing ❤❤❤

Hi Angela, I agree regarding knitwear - I tend to love a Fatface knitted jumper or cardigan 🥰 I also think life is too short to make underwear, although I never say never 🤣 I have just traced out the derwent trousers and have some very inexpensive ponte on its way from Legend textiles to try them out. Like you, if they work I will definitely invest in some better quality fabric 😊 I have a last couple of summer makes that I am considering putting away until next year but I somehow feel a bit guilty about doing that. I don’t like having WIPs hanging around 🙄🤣 I’m looking forward to starting on autumn makes but haven’t really decided yet what I want to sew 😊

Hi Angela I found a dress on the stitch upon a time website The dress is the shirtzie top and dress it's very similar to the Joe browns one and it's only £1.50 as it's closing down hope this helps x

Women need to quit worrying about small things like buying clothes because we sew. We have a hobby because it helps us relax and enjoy life. When we apply artificial rules we cause stress instead of enjoyment. You go ahead and buy those knits and anything else your heart (and wallet) wants. No more artificial rules!😊
