It's nice when Ocean R. gives an extended talk about an individual shark like Roxy. Her underlying emotion helps us feel as if we know Roxy. Thanks.

This is really sad just seeing this😥Seeing her jaw and her fin just almost made me cry😭Poor girl. It was so scary seeing her in this condition. Seeing injured sharks is just as scary as seeing injured cats and dogs. I can't wait until all these sharks are under full protection. I hope shark fishing becomes illegal. I was glad to see her getting better. That was awesome seeing all of you take really good care of her. I hope she has some nice babies on the way. I would love for this to happen.

I've tried pointing people to that channel when I come across the MANY fake, staged animal rescue vids. RU-vid, or the hack channel, would usually pull the comment. There's so many channels putting up fake rescues where they put the animals in distress to film the rescue to get clicks.

Hello Ocean Ramsey. I just got done watching this beautiful story that you were saying on here. Thank you, your husband Juan and the rest of your team at One Ocean Diving for what you all do for the shark's and other marine life. This was a beautiful and heart warming story of Roxy. Keep up with the great work and never stop doing what you all are doing. I purchased your book on line. Can't wait for it to arrive. Love you and your team at One Ocean Diving. Hope one day I can get to go on a shark diving tour or even just watching and taking pictures and videos of the sharks from your boat I'm hoping that my family will take me on this tour trip for my upcoming birthday this July of 2024. Love and hugs 🫂 🤗 💙💙💙👍✌️🤙

I totally understand what you are trying to do with your channel. But it's all an illusion that the sharks are friendly if treated properly. However, the real truth is you are just mitigating the reality that they are the predator and it's built in their DNA to eat, where they are hungry and you've trained them to come to you, with those signals of a "dinner bell" that there may be food to eat and ultimately (either by sight, smell or hearing), and they see you as potential food where they want see if they can eat you. But "you" are very versed in a shark defensive type of martial arts, where you deflect and distract them in their goal to taste and see if you are food where they can eat you. However, your deterrence causes them to give up at that moment, which makes them look docile. It's truly a type of martial arts much like Kung Fu or Hapkido (specializing in deflecting and redirecting using graceful hand movements) where they finally give up on that moment of aggression. But come to a place like Boca Grande Pass Florida, USA where huge tarpon gather to spawn and the largest of hammerheads and bullsharks gather to feast on them, in somewhat murky water with fast currents. You would not last a minute with them there. In other words They can learn and possibly give up on you for that moment, but in the end, they are just eating machines designed by nature for a purpose... to prey on the weak, helpless and dead, to keep the populous of marine life sustainably strong and healthy, all while it benefits to continue doing what they are design to do (to eat and breed to make more sharks for that continued purpose). So consider what you are really doing here. You may say it's for public awareness, but isn't it really just to drawl eyes to you? Instead, why don't you just leave them alone and let them do what they are hear to do and you go about you're life doing you. In other words, you do you and let them do what they do, without distracting them and causing them to be confused, along with people thinking they are ok to swim with, and potential causing harm to this people with the illusion that sharks are our friends, which they are not and will never be!

This diver seems to believe her safety is due to her skill and actions. I lived 25 years on Maui and was an avid free diver and spear fisherman during that time, so have some firsthand experience with sharks to speak from. If the sharks were actually acting aggressively there’s not a single thing she could do except make a beeline for the boat. They would be arching and torquing their bodies, bolting through the water, changing direction rapidly and covering distance very quickly, and would be acting frantically and very unpredictably. You don’t want to be in the water with an aggroing shark, it’s a frightening and humbling experience because it quickly becomes apparent that there is very little you can do should they decide to come at you. I don’t think most people appreciate just how fast and agile sharks are when agitated, you’d not be able to ”redirect” them, and I honestly don’t even know what the point is she’s attempting to communicate in narrating the video as such. That you are responsible for them not attacking? No, they are not attacking you because they are not attacking you, not because you’re pushing their snouts away or swimming underneath them. These sharks aren’t remotely predatory in their behavior, they’re simply cruising and curious. She’d be shark food if they hit the switch, and any attempt to redirect would be futile and end badly for her. Honestly this reminds me of Timothy Treadwell saying no cozy, cute cuddly bear would attack him because he spoke to them with a baby voice and had given them names. These videos with people acting as if they are responsible for their safety and demonstrating such a lack of respect and reverence for these animals are frustrating to watch. This diver is not in control. The sharks are, she is in their home, and she’s safe only by their allowances. Disclaimer - This is not my comment, it is a comment from another video. I tried to find the original comment, so that I could add his name and video. I am not trying to take credit for his comment. This comment is so well written that it should be posted on every shark re direct video. If anybody can find the original comment please let me know. I am surprised Ocean has not turned comments off or deleted this comment yet, its ok I have a copy. Final point. I think this lady understands sharks better than most people, otherwise she would have been injured or killed by now. In saying that the redirecting thing is a load of rubbish. She should just say you can push a non aggressive shark away if its not attacking you.
