I had a setup similar but my paint pan ended up rusting after a few uses and started to discolor our wax. It may have been a really cheap metal pan but may be something to keep an eye on. I use aluminum disposable baking pans now they are about $5 for two at the grocery store. Thanks for sharing!
If you place a paper towel in front of the screen, it will filter the wax even more. Plus, the paper towel makes an excellent fire starter as well when you swap it with a new one.
The slum gum is a good fire starter but it's also great bait scent for swarm traps. I freeze mine. Come spring I break it into chunks and throw some into the bottom of my swarm traps.
