It's not luck. They look at your contributions to Singapore. If you've mentioned the videos you make promoting Singapore, it would have counted greatly in your favour. Your MIL is so cute!

I know of foreigners who studied here since poly - > uni and worked in sg, staying here for more than 15 years but their pr still got rejected. Some stayed here for more than 10yrs and had children but still got rejected for PR

My friend who is a professor in NUS and he even invented something using waste which make singapore name proud internationally but he is not granted renewal for his PR.

It’s luck 🍀 not every application is approved on the 1st try… Ghib did his homework and with Luck 🍀 from MIL charms he got it in his 1st try!!!

Congrats, Ghib. It’s well deserved. It is very difficult to get Singapore PR on the first try after living here for just 3 years - easier to strike 4D 😂😅. I’m happy for you and your wife! At least now you can live here long term with no worries about visa etc. As a Singaporean, I’ve really enjoyed your videos and I must admit, some of them which showed Singapore in such a good light probably helped in your application, especially those that covered the work of public institutions. Congratulations! As much as I welcome u to be part of us, I agree it is a big decision, as each country has its perks and quirks, pros and cons. U may enjoy certain things about being a Japanese citizen that you may not bear to leave behind, or u may like how Singapore is pretty much free of natural disaster, for example. Take your time and think this through. I think most of us will still continue to support ur channel and what u do, regardless of ur decision!

Congrats ghib! My kids just got their PR too after 10 years and 4 tries. I cried hard. Can't believe finally my kids can be with me for 5 years coz every year we were at the Ica just to renew for them. And yes, thick envelope means approved! Thin envelope means....rejection. #welovesg

You truly deserve it by promoting SG not just to our own locals but to the world - not for show or ulterior motive as you truly immersed yourself into our culture and hung out with our local people (like the uncle). I work in banking and there are tonnes of foreigners trying to apply for PR just because they want to enjoy the benefits here so screw them!!!!

Congrats!! You can actually check your PR application status on the ICA website instead of waiting for the letter. I checked my hubby’s application monthly… When the document upload button disappeared, it meant an outcome would be available soon so I checked once a day for about 2 weeks. Then I shrieked one morning and husband knew his application got approved. It was a happy day.

I'm so happy for you, Ghib! Please remember to complete your application for your IC before the due date. Technically, you aren't considered a Singaporean till you apply for full citizenship instead of being a PR. That's because you can't hold 2 countries' passports at the same time. Maybe for now, you can only say 'Jit buah Sing Ka Poh lang lai liao.' 😅

おめでとうございます !! I had mine in 2001, but had to leave in 2004 because of SARS. Business was so bad at the time. Not sure about my PR status now, since I'm not staying or working there anymore. But my wife who also stayed overseas with me, is a citizen & my 3 daughters (stayed in school dorm in SG) who are studying there, are also citizens. A few months back I tried to check my CPF account, it still exists, still there. I haven't got the time to go to ICA to check on my status because nowadays I only visit for short trips. Very proud to be part of SG. Each year during NDP, I always feel 感动 and I even had more SG apps than my wife and kids 😅.
