yeah it seems really messed up that they just let raw zebra and so many others work on this for so long and put so much effort into it before asking them to stop, like they could have said this years ago.
I never thought I’d get sentimental over a fan-game but this one has just brought a hole in my heart. This sounds cliche and dorky but knowing the potential that TLL had, it’s just so sad seeing this little game that has just started growing being put to waste, and the fact that it has already impacted people of all ages all over the globe is crazy. Some still remember when the original MSM was the little one, still gradually growing. TLL is like a rebirth, like that one small business with all the love put into it shutting down. TLL has impacted so much that thousands of videos on social media and other places have been made in this short span of time. From Little Timmy on his I-Pad to big RU-vidrs. Knottshurr Island, M’duzzas Crypt, Voidcorn, Floating City… all of it is gone, and the entire community is just left with the memories that cannot be forgotten. Lets just pray that a miracle will revive this game and put an end to this demented dream. BIG UPDATE: IM PRETTY SURE ITS RETURNING, CHECK MPGS VIDEO
So in general chat in the discord some of the developers talked a bit more in depth about the whole thing one thing that was mentioned was this part of BBBs policy on fan content ```1.5 Big Blue Bubble, in its sole discretion, can revoke your permission to create or publish Fan Content at any time and for any reason.’’’ Another point that was made is that with how much hype the game began to see and some of the biggest MSM content creators beginning to check it out, the game could have been seen as a threat to the main game. I myself have seen this thing happen to so many games and communities over the past year or two that my opinion has kind of changed on the thing. Yes I believe BBB should be allowed to do this but I personally think this was actually the worse of the marketing decisions they could have made when it comes to how to handle a fan game.
before any of you go attacking BBB for the takedown, blame Enad Global 7 the parent company, BBB and MSM had nothing to do with it, it wasn't their decision that they were forced to
If they had a choice, they would likely promote the game and have like a live stream playing it because of how awesome the team at BBB is. Screw you Enad Global 7
I’m really saddened this happened, I absolutely love this game and it’s sad that all that time of work and BBB just takes it down. I hope there can be a way to redeem the game or maybe have BBB allow it, but low chances they happen. I hope all goes well in the end :(
@@gamersupreme4504they might if tll returned since mpg said that it might be returning. So there might be a low chance that tll might become a dlc to msm.
Damn, but I did see it coming. When I first heard about it being an actual game I was wondering if he had permission to use their monsters so I can’t say I didn’t see it coming.. still sad though, R.I.P TLL.. 😢
i get you guys are sad because i am to. but its not 100% deleted. it might come back but maybe in a different way. im also making my own msm fangame that was planning to come out some time (maybe next year) but im not to sure about that anymore anyway stay positive guys :D
That's really sad, but how can you make an msm fangame without msm monsters? I get it isn't fully BBB's fault but it still is kinda dumb. Especially because there are no in game purchases or ads (i think) and I don't know why they're getting angry about it.
It is their fault they took it down. Maybe not the msm devs, but the BBB higher ups probably told them to shut it down, and they had to do what higher ups say. 4 days after BBB earn an award fir best workplace environment or whatever, they do this. I'm not gonna stop playing msm, but i definitely lost all respect for the BBB higher ups. The msm devs probably didn't do this themselves, only did it on orders from higher ups.
Honestly I saw this coming. The game seemed to close to the other games. I feel they should have gotten a little more approval from the BBB team, but I’m sure they will figure it out 😁
Blaming them for BBB taking down fan content the second it became a released game? Yeah, definitely their fault for making a passion project, not BBB's fault for taking down a non-profit free game that made the official games gain more players and money.
Man... I'm very scared and sad for TLL's future. I was thinking they wouldn't go after raw since he isn't making money from it and I hope they can make some deal wirh BBB to keep it alive.
@@Supersonicjujualso the name is perfect for a sequel, the lost landscapes, visiting the farthest and undiscovered points of the monster world, learning their history, and of course new monsters!
I think BBB is a horrible company for doing this. They're no better than Nintendo taking down fangames. I know they say "don't go after BBB" and I don't plan on it but I still think this is shitty of them.
it's not their fault. all characters in MSM, DOF and FJD are from BBB, and they were aware of the game, but other partners didn't like it and could report it for plagiarism, and there would be no escaping for RawZ. BBB made the right decision, unfortunately the most hurtful.
@@loioler After making this comment I've seen a lot of people saying that "it wasn't BBB, it was [higher-ups/owner company/partners]" and now I'm just sad that BBB have given people uninvolved with the game itself any say over what they do and don't take down, and anything else related to MSM. You should absolutely NEVER hand over even an OUNCE of the ownership for a game/show/whatever you care about making to people who don't actually give a crap about what you're making. This is why when I finally stop procrastinating and learn to code, I'm not giving my games to ANYONE. Except _mayyyyyyybeee_ Devolver Digital if they were interested in something I made, but even then probably not.
im not at all against BBB for doing this, its understandable why. but this game was so fun and unique and so impressively made and im tearing up just thinking about the fact that this game might be gone for good and all years worth of creation left to waste. i was so excited to go and play tll at the end of school but with this unfortunate news i feel terrible.. i feel so bad for all the people who spent ages just getting this game released for it to shortly be removed as a whole.
Its not like the game was making any money off of TLL so I don’t see why a cease and desist letter is needed, its a shame its ending, TLL was an amazing ride, sucks it had to die so soon, im glad I got to play it while it lasted.
I knew this would happen… from the day it released I knew it would happen, multiple people replied to that comment with “they would never” but they just didn’t get the point of things that could happen like this…
Y know this may be sad but the best thing that could happen is this becomes an official msm game which I don’t see why not (also they should hire rz rn) but mean demented dream island they could rework candy island why didn’t the alpha (with was just em) get tendencies down
kind of a duchbag move to just only say "yo btw can you take down your game cus it got our stiff in it" AFTER it got put out onto steam and all of that, hope it at least just gets the non-fanmade monsters replaced and doesnt get taken down for good
So they claim to support fan stuff, but the second it's made into a game, that's too far? Really? Years of work smashed because higher ups don't care. That's messed up. Like, yeah they have rights to do that, but they didn't need to. Not only was tll giving the official games more players and popularity, but it was reigniting oeople's love of msm who may have stopped playing as often until tll reignited that spark. Other companies have allowed fangames of their own franchises, but BBB, who claim to support creativity in the community, just cut down a game that took years to get to a playable state, and that was not an issue to them until now, when it made their official games gain enough they thought they git enough and should shut it down. Even though it was fully free to play and made no profit.
Y’know, Scott cawthon was fine with fnaf fangames, he even helped to make one and was even fine with people using his characters, but BBB is just, why? Why would you do this, you’ll lose your reputation, your *famous* game will lose its fan base ending up like games such as Baldi’s basics and some others
How come they waited until the game was released to take it down? Why couldn't they have just told Raw Zebra about this before he continued developing it?
its a fight no one wins, bbb didnt do it but suffer the problem of it and msmtll have had years down the drain for over something out of their knowledge or control
Hopefully we live in a world where BBB will come to a comprise and let the lost landscapes continue. Either that, or some sort of deal is made with the company because it definitely has the quality to be an official spin off game, similar to dawn of fire. But sadly that’s only in a perfect world and we will have to wait and see what happens
If you guys want a company to get mad at, BBB is owned by Enad Global 7. The higherups there likely saw TLL as a competitor to the official games and asked for a takedown. They probably never saw it until recently. If they did, they could’ve saved the TLL team some headache.
Im not blaming MPG for this, since he didnt know. But im pretty sure that it likely captured the attention if BBB because he uploaded a video on it yesterday. Then it suddenly gets taken down the next day? Guess BBB didnt really see it as a big "threat" until their biggest creator showcased it. Then that was what caused them to delete it. (Otherwise its certainly a big coincidence)
i think this decision has less to do with monetization but moreso public image and brand, which in the form of a playable game that can be easily mistaken as an official big blue bubble product lead the executives to file a takedown, made more drastic by things like demented dream being a rather scary thing for a younger demographic or the fact that the fanmade monsters cross into combinations that are albeit cool could confuse players down the line when theyre added in the future if magical monsters are expanded for why they did this now instead of while it was in active development, it probably wasnt on their radar (hell, i didnt even know this was an actual fangame instead of a series of animations on rawzebra's channel) and as it gained more traction on social media and larger youtubers it lead to this decision these are just my theories and i'm open to any levelheaded discussion in the replies with what you believe!
BTW: big blue bubble is owned by EG7, which probably pushed the team to do a cease and desist on TLL, so if theres anyone to blame its the parent company, not the incredibly talented team behind msm
The monster handlers has expressed in the past that they would want to avoid seeing fan content (unless in events) as much as possible so no coincidences can happen. Which explains why they finally noticed it at it's most popular. I would prefer a 100% original msm fangame anyways tbh.
I don't think the fanmade breeding thing is a problem, since magical expansion did this and the monster handlers even mentioned it on a live, but i agree with the rest.
It’s so sad to see a project that uksus and raw zebra put their souls into get shut down not even a week after it released, hopefully they eventually find a way to re release it but until then rest in peace my singing monsters: the lost landscapes.
its been released for almost a year and a half now, its still sad to see something that RZ, Uksus and Azuran put ages of development into, for it to get shut down a year later. RIP MSM: the lost landscapes.
This is so unfortunate because in normal my singing monsters i have done everything and stopped playing while on tll i was at my peak growth. I hope everything will be explained and the game wouldnt be changed completely
This is really sad and unfortunate I hope they don’t scrap it and just remove the msm monsters. I think that BBB should allow fanmade games to have official MSM monsters because almost every single fanmade island someone has made has official MSM monsters and I feel like it’s just a thing now to have original MSM monsters to be in fanmade islands
this is like when warner brothers tried to take down that new coyote vs acme movie as soon as it was finished, but the difference is that coyote vs acme wasn't scrapped and went on with releasing it, but in this situation, the chances of tll not being scrapped are incredibly low, so this isn't looking good
I'm pretty sure they found out from MPG since he made a vid about it yesterday and BBB follows closely on him and not too much on anyone else that has played the game so far. I think what happened is they saw MPG's vid and then they decided to tell them afterwards.
@@fiery114 i did not know that, nvm then, i mean they did know about tll even before he released the game but they probably didn't get fully invested in the legal issues/realizations until then
Honestly, I think what BBB('s parent company) should do is (let BBB) promote TLL instead of taking it down. They could kind of do something like Scott Cawthon's fnaf fan-verse entitative, so they can give TLL money to help with the game and BBB could share profit and get money or whatever big companies want. Also, as someone who's started working with some people on an msm fan-game, I really hope they'll just let fangames like this happen.
I understand copyright, but it's not like the Lost Landscapes was trying to compete with BBB or paint the game in a bad light. Especially since this guy's been working on it for God knows how long. It could've been so awesome with some later updates that could've made it even better. Even without the BBB monsters, it just wouldn't be as good. It's just a huge tragedy. Now BBB better give us something absolutely fantastic this week to make up for this, or we should demand The Lost Landscapes be back immediately.
I feel like the best way raw and the dev team can fix this is make Fanmade monsters that can replace the official monsters (such as making a new monster that replaces mammoths sounds, etc)
I have a feeling that TLL being a playable game is where it ended up crossing a line to BBB, I can see a company seeing a fan game as taking potential players away from MSM. I don’t agree with that choice but I can see where they’re probably coming from. I hope TLL can return in some way, maybe just as videos and not in a game
I stopped play msm becuase it was getting boring and I didn’t know this was actually playable past old evergreen marsh im so sad i missed it😭😭😭😭😭but I do feel like it would take (at least me as a player) not away necessarily since I just stopped playing msm, except I joined back for the workshop. The new content and deeper connection to the creators in TLL makes it somewhat better and more intriguing for players
As a person that knew about tll when the first videos raw made about it launched, it hurts, really much, like I know Big blue bubble can do that but a game that didn't make money at all? Even gives the most expensive currency in the whole franchise of msm, for me it was just like this: "Oh your game that took you 4 to 5 years to make is sucessful enough for us to know its existence? Oh well, the minority of your monsters are ours so toodles!"
This probably happened after MSMPokegamer played the game, because he is a big name in the MSM fanbase, and I would assume they have him on their radar.
Not deleted, hopefully. But taken down for the time being, i hope raw remakes it with replacements of the non-fanmade monsters that look close.. but legally distinct
i mean i get taking it down, but the only thing that makes me angry with BBB is that WHY, JUST WHY, would you just WATCH them pour their blood sweat and tears on this project for 4+ years, wasting all of their hard work and time that deserves more than it got? Messed up, truly, truly messed up BBB.
dont blame BBB, they didnt wanna do this, it wasnt their decision. its stupid the parent company ass EDAD GLOBE 7 who forced this decision, so go after them, the team would have played this on a stream if not for EDAD GLOBLE 7
Looks like voidcorn is hunting BBB down. Jokes aside, this is really sad. I was never even able to play this game but from the looks, it looked so cool. I understand though why they wanted it to be taken down. Years of development just to get taken down feels rough and I kind of felt that once. I was making good progress on my roblox account (this was around 2015-2016) and then it randomly got hacked. I understand how the creator of TLL feel at the moment.
Imma be honest, this is about what I expected. It was high enough quality to be mistaken as a real MSM game which is not okay for corporate protection of copyright and trademark. I think it’s pretty bad that this was not addressed till the game was out, but at the same time I think its popularity is a large part of what concerned BBB. Fangames are one thing, but when it could potentially redirect the playerbase’s attention from BBB’s actual games, all while using their copyrighted monsters and trademark MSM logo, I can see the problem. It would actually be foolish for BBB to have kept this game up, because even though this project was made in good faith, people could take advantage of its success and make their own fangames for a quick buck. As much as I admire the project and am heartbroken it is gone, it was an outcome always in the back of my mind. If the project isn’t dead, I would love to see it come back to life with new branding and monsters. It isn’t impossible, Them’s Fighting Herds managed to go from a MLP fangame to its own full blown IP thanks to community and team passion to rebrand and flesh out the concept. Raw Panda has something really amazing here, but it’s a matter of it they find it worth pursuing further after such a setback.
Very sad. I am so incredibly disappointed. I was just making progress and was so exited about completing my first island and the game had to be taken down. Hoping for the best case senario.
I feel like this is just the 4yo me inside of my brain saying this but I feel like it could make sense What if BBB asked raw zebra and the rest of the crew working on it if they would like to make it an official game? (Obviously voidcorn would have to be tuned down because of the age demographic they’re shooting for) like I could imagine something where they worked on characters and stuff themselves and then they sent it up to BbB to see if it works? I think that taking this down is understandable but weird. Like why didn’t they take this down during development or something? Also I feel like it was the best version of my singing monsters even if it wasn’t canon just because they weren’t afraid to do more weird and creative things with the islands or the monsters
Y'know, they could revamp the game, using only original monsters (correct me if I'm wrong) because it wouldn't be interfering with the main msm games, and be completely separate instead
Can’t believe this. I game with such great potential completely wasted. Hopefully BBB has a change of heart and can sort out the legal issues with Raw Zebra, but until then, the lost landscapes are truly lost.
The fact that bbb took down Tll, an game which surprisingly has better features than the actual games makes me mad, tll is my favorite msm game of all of them, but BBB decides to take it down, hope the tll team can get the game back
im just sad the game had a lot of work put in it, i was really hoping that it could spread around and get some recognition, sadly, that's the basic in copyright for you, but... im quite disappointed at bbb, they never gave reply's too raw zebra about the materials he was using, and made him waste almost a half decade in programming rest in piece tll, the first and the best msm fangame.
That is so fucked up. I don’t understand why BBB just let raw work on the game if they were gonna shut it down. I cant believe I'm sayinf this, but BBB fucked up, *majorly.* I know its not their fault, but I can't help it.
I wonder if one of the islands is the "not acceptable as fan content" thing, maybe it's them refusing to acknowledge that their fanbase have grown up and enjoy things like island_demented_dream_ERROR; now.
