Still one of my all-time fave scenes from a TV show....Jordan wasn't the brightest, and could barely read, according to the storyline of MSCL....but, somehow, when he hears this in class...he just, gets it.... That look on his face...priceless!
Shortly after. It was a much shorter commitment. In TV you can't have regular school and it is really demanding. Also maybe she needed money or quickly changed her mind.
Even though most don't believe it, I think Jordan did love Angela. He didn't realize it until later and when he did, he seemed confused, and caught off guard. But those feelings were real and I choose to believe he did, it makes me smile and go "AWWWW".
Jordan did love her. Only in this scene he is selfware enough to understands what he feel for her is love. Jordan is like wow what do I do with this? How do I get this to work? Will it work?
One of my favorite scenes and I was a sophomore when this came out and we read this poem in my English class. I was so obsessed with this and still mad that it got canceled and I'm 41 now.
I love the 90s everything weren't so flashy and you could wear like basically anything and no one would care. I would totally love to not worry about matching everyday and i would to totally love to wear huge button up shirts. I really think that it's time for me to get a wardrobe change. I really need to stop caring about what people might think of me, because in reality 2011 is so dull and everything is just superficial. I really think i was born in the wrong time period. Lol
As someone who was a teenager in the 90s I would say that we definitely cared about what we wore, if things matched like all high schoolers do. We didn’t have the pressure of presenting that image on social media however. Growing up and growing older gives you the perspective that most people have at some point felt like they were made for another time or felt like people who lived back in the (insert your favorite era) had it better. It just takes time to appreciate the time you were born into and have gratitude for all of the good things about it. You probably feel some of that already since you wrote your comment in 2011 :)
I’m on the exact same page like I like the real fashion of the 90s and not the like curated outfits of today that are like 90s inspired like nobody really wore all that stuff
I know this is supposed to be about Jordan but I think it's interesting that the only ones answering him are Jordan and Brian. Considering Brian Loves Angela too.
@@steffishere If you remember that scene when Brian is tutoring Jordan you'll understand they could establish some kind of feedback. Brian's knowledge came from books and Jordan's a streetwise (and a little older too). What did they have in common? Angela.
I remember this show giving me hope, in my delicate, formative years, that dreams really could come true - that perfect boys might one day acknowledge my existence. But sadly we don't all look like Angela, and certainly no boys in my school looked like Jordan...so I'm still waiting and hoping....
jordan is not perfect, neither is angela they are good looking but that's not the point I think that dreams really do come true when you find the person that gets you, and likes and accepts you no matter what your imperfections are
Watching this show brings me right back to 6th grade. .I remember binge watching it when Mtv started airing it during Christmas break 95, and I even recorded all the episodes. Jordan Catalono was just about every girl in my schools celebrity crush & nobody liked Brian Krackow lol. Amazing how Jared Leto hasn't changed much. ..he's aging like a fine wine and still has that baby face at nearly 50 years old. This show will always be special to me I just wish we had more seasons :( Edited: BTW, is it just me, or did anyone else wish they had let Jordan answer the full question, instead of Brian? I know he answers the 1st part, and Mr Katinsky was trying to get the answer out of him as to why Shakespeare loved the woman he was describing, and I just feel it would have been more impactful had Jordan said the lines "Because she's real, she has flaws " i know Jordan wasn't as articulate as Brian, but still. Unless the point was to show that honestly Jordan really doesn't quite know why he loves Angela, yet Brian does.
I just watched the entire season in like a day and I'm so pissed off! This show is really good and entertaining, I'm so sad they ended it that way. I know it's because of the lack of audience and because Claire Danes didn't want to go for a second season, but come on, when they knew that, couldn't they just change the ending or something? Because it's like you've waisted your time watching it. You're waiting for something to happen between Jordan and Angela all along, and they end it like this? Seriously... WHYYYYY? :( And for me this is weird, because Angela pretty much knows Brian loves her since the beginning, and she spends every minute of her day thinking about Jordan, and then suddenly she realizes that Brian REALLY loves her and is ready to react, but still going with Jordan in the end? Makes no sense... I think it wouldn't be good to have a second season about the Brian/Jordan thing. But I'd still go for Jordan though, cause you know...Jared Leto hahaha
She doesn't really decide to go with Jordan in the end. She is noticeably more conflicted at that point when it's confirmed that Brian wrote that letter to her. We never find out exactly what she's thinking or what she wants to do at that point. Also, I've never heard of Claire Danes not wanting to do the show anymore. In interviews, they all seem proud of the show and happy to work with their cast mates and production. In fact, Claire Danes has even expressed interest in wanting to have seen where things would have gone with Angela and Brian after the finale.
Funny how I ended up in here through a rabbit hole! I was 14 when this show came out. There was a "Jordan" in my school and I related to this series so strongly. We didn't kiss until 18 and he moved out of country right after. Last time I ran into him couple of years ago and I'm not into him anymore. But this week for some reason, he was in my dream. And then I end up watching these videos!
Jared made blinking and awkwardness into a fucking artform in this show. I've never in my life been so attracted to self-conscious blinking and watching people crawl into themselves like I am when I watch Jordan. Why is it so fucking ENDEARING? Weirrrddd.
I have an amazing story. One time I was driving home and I felt the presence of the Lord, come down to me from above. I started getting chills and I felt so comfortable with Him. I knew if I asked Him to play a song on the radio, He would. So I said "Ok Lord, play Come as you are..." I didn't know what station it was on or anything, but I turned the radio on and the song started playing right on the spot, perfectly... I started getting flooded with chills inside, and started crying. When I got home, He stayed with me for 10 minutes till I got out of the car. I've been getting amazing prayers answered for around 5 years since, because that experience made me stop doubting when I pray, and I follow Biblical instructions, best I can.
I wish that I had had seen this show when I was 15. This show made me feel normal and not alone in highschool when I was a senior. I only wish I'd seen it before that.
I'm a big MSCL life fan but my mother would always complain about how the misfit or counterculture girls always were portrayed in movies by really pretty actresses. As If any boy ever needed a poetic lecture to love Claire Danes. what a ridiculous notion!
@SincerlyEvermore I think he did love her.. especially when he got so jealous when Angela was talking to Corey (the one Ricky had a crush on) and when he slept with Rayanne because guys do stupid sh*t like this when they're falling for someone else. And then how he felt so guilty afterwards and was obsessed with trying to make things right with her.
Jordan was frustrated (and drunk as Rayanne) because Angela felt she wasn't ready to have sex with him. He couldn't (or even tried) to make her feel confident about it. Perhaps they should have work it out together.
Perfect representation of Brian and Jordan and why Angela ended up with Jordan. Brian has no trouble intellectually analyzing his feelings for Angela but can't be vulnerable and truly acknowledge how he feels. Jordan isn't intellectual enough to really get his own feelings or why he has them, but he will admit them and follow them. Also thinking about that iconic scene in episode 1 with Brian and Angela. It's iconic precisely because it was the perfect moment for Brian to let down his defenses and be vulnerable, which probably would have created the intimacy between them so they would end up together. But he didn't. This show is so good.
@SincerlyEvermore Yeah, what Jordan did with the letter was kinda shady but I always gave him the benefit of the doubt because he had good intentions. He was guilty of being an airhead with a tortured soul lol. I really wanted to see what would have happened after the finale :( Claire Danes said in a interview that Angela didn't belong with Jordan or Brian and would not have married either of them. If I had one wish in TV land, it would be to have 10 seasons of MSCL, no joke lol
Oh Brian just... shut up!! Jordan is trying to reveal his feelings and accomplish something good. I mean... he's clearly going to say something bright. Let it be that way. Next time shut up and listen! Lol
Federica Isgro when Jordon made Brian help him write something to Angela... He was the hunky dude- who couldn't even read. Something like that. "Why are you the way you are?" - J. Catalano. Also the dude from crazy/ beautiful
Federica Isgro you don't realize that Brian is doing the same thing? Except Brian can speak that he loves her, because his love for her is unrequited, also his personality. Look at the context.
I remember my boyfriend in high-school loved this show and I didnt know it at the time but all of our drama was because he was exactly like Jordan, not Ricky.
The woman Shakespeare is describing is a black woman but due to Elizabethan standards she wasn’t deemed attracted by society. But modern standards she could be as beautiful as the next woman.
All my favorite favorite shows and you know I got so hooked so easily and this is going back to 1993 actually it was earlier. They’ve never made a better show since so fucked up the shit they put on now this had all the elements. Fact
Who is Shakespeare? If you ask me a romantic, intelligent and full of imagination author…. Teacher: the woman he is describing here is she perfect, is she the type of woman that stops traffic due to her beauty? Is he in love with her? The mistress: who is the mistress Student: he is in love with the woman she is not perfect, she is real with flaws and real life issues The mistress: pure perfection more of lusting S
