I stumbled across your channel when I was looking through some computer science related videos, and I have to say that after watching your video on people smarter than you, the first video I watched of yours, I realized how much I still needed to work on in terms of not comparing myself to others. I never had a good foundation in school, and in high school I managed to kick myself into gear and get good grades. But when I got to college and started taking computer science courses, I fell into many states of feeling depressed or not good enough or not being able to catch up to every one else. Not only did your video serve as a reminder, but it also gave me a encouragement to continue working on my programming skills to reach a higher level. I feel like I lack a solid foundation in CS, and I'm already a Junior in college, but I'm going to keep pushing forward. I just want to thank you so much for sharing your insight into life/your life experiences and giving me the motivation to carve out my own future and constantly improve. I'm so glad I came across your channel!!

Hello Dave; new subscriber here. I look your story. I am a recent grad and is in more or less same position as you back then. Having friends going to 'better' company than you (wage/what not). And I dont seem to do well in software interview. Got one offer... its Business/IT related. It's something I always wanted to try... but if I do go... going back to Programming --- will involve alot of catch up etc. However... after listening to your story. You made it seems possible that an 90 degree transition is do-able. Much thanks!

Is there by any chance you can talk about the programming language called Java, Im knew to it, I know little of C++ even though that was the first language that I was introduced to, but I feel as though, C++ is not sticking so Im moving on the Java, any tips on the language, and how to be more efficient in coding because I feel the only time, when I code is when I have class, but I want to be able to do it not everyday. but efficiently and effectively my major is computer science, Im a junior by the way been checking out the recent videos of your but there more on the Software Developer and Engineering side of the table. I dont know what I want to do with my degree at the moment, What are some job field, that a Computer Scientists, would be offered?

Could someone with an unrelated (economics) degree (and very basic coding knowledge) with around a year to study in free time (2-3 hours a day) get to the stage of being hired in an entry level development role? Would having an unrelated degree impact this career in the long run or would experience soon outweigh that? Thank you to anyone that answers!

MrZombieCake Hey I'm learning code myself and from what I've read and heard RU-vidrs say is that experience trumps everything. If you have a portfolio to show your ability and can demonstrate your knowledge in an interview, then nothing else matters beyond that. I've even heard people say a degree isn't even required because they had such a good body of work even though they were self- taught

can you develop a search engine that only searches word documents for words and definitions? This search engine is similar to asking a web browser what does something mean and the web browser such as google responding with the definition. However the writer technically came up with the definition for the word being searched for.

i didn't kill it on the interviews. you're doing everything right, but you need to heavily prepare for the interviews to stand out. You will get an interview no question, but then the bar to get an offer is kind of high because the top of the funnel is so large (so many applicants)

No, I never said that. You're disagreeing with something I never claimed; you are disagreeing with something you are personally inferring yourself from what I said.
