So far as the years go by, Seward is my favorite. Next year Homer is on the list while I'm up there for the summer.

Literally just came back yesterday from my Anchorage/Seward trip with my daughter. My first time flying and I’m 48 years old. I absolutely loved the trip especially Seward. I want to go back so bad.

Thank you! This was the first week of July, with my first full day being July 4th. For the most part, the temperatures were in the 50s/60s, which I found perfect for hiking.

Congratu;ations on an absolutely awesome video. I have watched 20 or so videos on RU-vid about what to see and do in Alaska and I think yours was one of the best. Thank you so much for sharing your adventure with us.

I'd be extremely cautious if you ever run into a cow and her calf again! Hahaha! I don't think you know how much of a precarious situation you were in, there! Hahaha! I miss living in AK, nice video!

Wondering if you did any drive in Alaska. I'm trying to go but I don't drive at all since I live in NYC. And trying to go this August
@mackenziekinzel
@mackenziekinzel 2 года назад
I didn't drive! I used Uber and the local taxi service in Anchorage (they have an app). I took the Alaska Railroad to Seward, and I walked everywhere there since it is a small town. The railroad also goes north from Anchorage to Denali and Fairbanks. Enjoy your trip!

Would you recommend this trip in the winter months at all?
@mackenziekinzel

After I went in the summer, my first thought was that I wanted to do my next trip in the fall or winter to get each seasonal experience. I would probably recommend summer if it's your first time in the state - to get acquainted without the added difficulty of freezing temperatures and snow. Temperatures in the hottest week of July, when I went, ranged from 50-75 F. I personally prefer 50-60 for hiking. The biggest factor, though, is what kinds of activities you'd like to do. For example, a lot of the water activities like sightseeing cruises, kayaking, paddleboarding, and boating are only available in the summer. In the winter, you'd have activities like dogsledding, snowmobiles, cross country skiing, etc. Hiking and certain sightseeing tours (like the photography tour I took) run year round.

Hi. I’m planning to solo travel to Alaska the same way you have done it in covid 19 times. Is there any recommendations for bear encounters hiking alone? Thank you so much
@mackenziekinzel
@mackenziekinzel 3 года назад
You can buy "Bear Spray" at a number of stores in Alaska. I believe it's like pepper spray, but specifically to deter bears. I wasn't hiking in areas where bear sightings are super frequent, but I would buy some if I were doing so, especially if I were alone. Enjoy your trip!
