I have lived my dream and Flown a REAL Spitfire. The wife and I flew to England and then drove down to the southern coast of England to an airfield used in the 2nd World war.
I was briefed, and as a Flying instructor allowed to fly this magnificent aircraft.
Hands clear for take off, formation and landing but the rest of the time she was all mine.
The wife was in the chase plane.
The Spitfire was all that I had heard from the old surviving pilots.. You don't get in to her, you strap her on. Surprising small in size when you sit in her.
The controls were very balanced and rudders not utilized much at all. The secondary effect of rudders not pronounced at all so usually ignored I was advised.
A dream come true!
