This anime would have ended in just one season if Yume and Mizuto were honest with their feelings, although they make a nice couple, fate brought them together again, as step-siblings.

This happens apparently. I remember reading a post about a couples parents that meet up, fell in love and got married which then made the couple step siblings. I don't know the legal or ethical rules on this but I'm sure it's awkward. Edit: I'm not saying it's wrong. I just thought it would be a little awkward to think about at first. I wouldn't know though because I've always been single.

It's kinda weird, But I can tell you by experience It's really not that bad or complicated. My cousin had a boyfriend since High school, and they getted along so Well with the family that they were brough to any family gathering like a part of us. My auntie and his dad catched feelings, and started dating and proposed.. We always joked about them being now step-bros, but honestly, other than the formalities, neither them or anyone treated that relationship weirdly besides like, their friends, cuz they were dating since forever and it Just doesn't matter

Same in every country. Only in some modern countries do you can use the woman surname or use both name with a sign, e.g. -. Some countries, e.g. Federal Republic of Germany, accepted both names to different family member, so that all have same name before the marriage. But this make often problems with schools and government offices.
