Fantastic tutorial. Great description and voice instructions and tips. I watched a number of videos and yours had the most relevant info and additional detail.

This was a great video and you are awesome for answering my question. Thank you!! This saved my stock tank pool and helped me not make mistake of painting it. Thank you so much!
@CraftyGalConfessions
@CraftyGalConfessions 2 месяца назад
Yes!! I’ve been in the Facebook groups a couple years now and have yet to come across anyone who has painted there pool and it’s held up for more than a year. Unless you spend crazy big bucks on a professional marine job or powder coating, which just seems a bit bananas to me. But to each their own 🤷🏻‍♀️

You've motivated me! I'm going to set this up. Do you have details on the size of your stock tank? Did you paint the cute stripes?
@CraftyGalConfessions
@CraftyGalConfessions 7 месяцев назад
Yes! I did paint the stripes. I plan to do a blog post about my process since I do get asked about it a lot. But it was before my blog, so I don’t have many photos to show. My tank is an 8ft Hastings. And my liner is an 8 ft also. Good luck!!

Thank you for your tutorial. I used flexseal after sanding my rusted tank and it’s has starting to peel. So, my next step is to use a stock tank pool liner. Where did you purchase your pool liner and the clips that you put under the pool noodles? Thanks

HI -Love your videos. Was wondering how you handle covering the pool with your cascade (waterfall) inlet?
@CraftyGalConfessions
@CraftyGalConfessions 2 месяца назад
Since adding the fountain, I actually don’t cover it. Since having a kid, we use the pool so much more. I’m out there constantly, which means I’m constantly cleaning it, and I also now run the pump 24/7 after a couple years of battling algae issues. It’s easier for me to just net out the leaves and bugs that accumulate here and there, than to mess with getting a cover on and off on a regular basis.

Pond shield sucks. I dont know why thats how everyone does their stock tank but ita a nightmare of chipping and rusting 😢
@CraftyGalConfessions
@CraftyGalConfessions 6 месяцев назад
Yah I heavily considered it. But when I first got my tank the idea was still very new as far as resources that I was able to find. I just didn’t trust that it would hold up after all that work. So I opted for the liner instead. So far no regrets. And I’m glad I didn’t go the pond shield route. Now that more time has gone by since the idea first surfaced. It’s clear to me that it’s only good, if you do it PERFECTLY l. And for most people, that wasn’t the case.

This is the first video I watched on this that wasn’t confusing, is your pump hooked up directly to an outlet or are you using an extension cord?
@CraftyGalConfessions
@CraftyGalConfessions 2 месяца назад
I had an electrician come out and quote me setting up an outdoor outlet in my space and it just wasn’t an economical option for me. So I opted to run an extension cord from my work shop which is right on the other side of that wall. If you go that route, be sure to use a GFCI extension cord. Depending how much length you need, you can get a shorter one that your pump is plugged into, or you can put one between your regular extension cord and your pump, making sure all connections that are exposed to the elements are in a weatherproof box. Just plot out the length you will need and price out what will be cheaper. A long GFCI cord, vs a shorter one + weather box. You done want you plugs exposed to the elements. If any water at all gets inside that pump plug it will trip your pump breaker and cause problems. So make sure that’s protected. You can get a short GFCI cord for $25 or so, while longer ones run $75 ish. I needed a lot of length due to my pump placement, and most of my extension cord is actually inside my wood shop, not exposed to elements. So I opted for a short GFCI cord and a good quality weather box that my GFCI end of the cord and my pump plug are tucked nicely into.

I have a 6' stocktank pool that I'm looking to setup with a liner. Is the 8'r specifically made for an 8' pool (like, does it have seems that fit the 8'?) or does it seem like it would work with a 6' pool? Thanks for the video!
@CraftyGalConfessions
@CraftyGalConfessions 5 месяцев назад
Yes it has a seam. I would not use an 8ft liner. I’ve never seen 6 ft liner options. Good luck 😬
@dariomiranda8020
@dariomiranda8020 5 месяцев назад
@@CraftyGalConfessions Thanks for the reply! I too couldn't find a 6 foot option. I decided to go with the 8' liner and see what happens. If it doesn't work, I've been wanting to upgrade to the 8' tank and this would be the perfect incentive. I'm glad I found your video for the liner, though. I don't know why, when looking for lining options, I never came across these liners. I've tried three different roll on/paint on options and all haven't stood a chance against the Phoenix heat. If the liner doesn't hold up, at least I'm not stuck with the impossible job of scrapping it off the metal. Enjoy your swimming season!

Hello and thank you for video! My intake and outtake are stuck on my stock tank pool and It’s too tight to unscrew also had silicone put on and had been there for last three years without removing. I’m trying to do what you are doing with the liner. Any suggestions to unscrew a stuck intake outtake? Thanks in advance!
@CraftyGalConfessions
@CraftyGalConfessions 3 месяца назад
Hmm. I do only put silicone on the inside of my tank. That allows me to unscrew from the outside without any extra resistance. Usually I’m able to unscrew with just a bit of muscle, but one year I did have to grab some grippy gloves to get it moving. With silicone also on the outside it’s definitely going to be tricky. Maybe a large span monkey wrench would do the trick to get it to budge . Check out something like this. amzn.to/4be8knk And when you do reinstall with a liner, be sure you only put the silicone on the inside. Then you’ll just be peeling that way from the liner when you need to remove it.

Do you think I could stretch this liner around a 9' tank?
@CraftyGalConfessions
@CraftyGalConfessions 2 месяца назад
I honestly don’t think I can confidently answer that question. Maybe… especially if you did it on a very hot/full sun day.. but that’s a very expensive test run that could potentially go badly 🤷🏻‍♀️

What kind of wooden stain did you use for the deck?
@CraftyGalConfessions
@CraftyGalConfessions 2 месяца назад
Hey there! This is the deck stain I used. It goes on super easy and transparent so it’s easy to just add another coat when you feel it’s needed. Highly recommend a transparent stain over an opaque in my deck staining experience 😅. www.homedepot.com/p/Olympic-Maximum-1-gal-Canyon-Brown-Exterior-Stain-and-Sealant-in-One-57505A-01/305230167

Have you ever had issues with water getting under the liner? My pool has a huge water bubble under the liner.. I guess I didn’t put enough caulk..
@CraftyGalConfessions
@CraftyGalConfessions 2 месяца назад
Only my first year and the culprit was a tiny little tear in my liner. Still not sure how it got there. I fixed it by applying a piece of flex seal tape to the outside of the liner. Which held fine. But that’s why I decided to replace my liner and made this video 😊. Halfway through our second season with the liner in this video and no tears so far.

Do you put in a new liner every year?
@CraftyGalConfessions
@CraftyGalConfessions Месяц назад
No I do not. I decided to replace my first one after I got a tiny tear in it. I was able to patch the tear with flex seal tape the next year. But decided to just go ahead and replace. The liner in this video has survived 2 seasons now.

Yah.. unfortunately I’m unaware of anyone who has been able to find a 10ft liner option. If I ever do hear of it, I’ll be sure to link it on my blog though. Definitely a good product idea for whoever is manufacturing these though.

Did you put something over the tank's drain hole on the inside to keep the pool liner from rubbing a hole throw it?

It peels fairly cleanly away from the liner. Just have to use a little muscle to unscrew at break the seal.

Sorry I didn’t get a shot from the side to show it better. But I basically use the metal lip as my guide. That leaves just enough overhang that it’s secure but concealed by the noodles.
