I’m 48 years old now but I found out my mother had colon cancer when I was 15, she was 44 when we found out she had a tumor in the colon. She had lost a lot of weight by then and she passed on at 45, 4 months later. I want to give you such a big hug and wish you didn’t have to go through this. You are a warrior of a person and I also commend you speaking out and encouraging people that may be going through the black hole of getting diagnosed or having symptoms to speak up and demand the proper care and advocate for the own health since at this point we have so many doctors that are in this business to just make money and not try harder for their patient. I’m so glad you found an oncologist that actually cares for her patients and thinks ahead
I'm so sorry that you've had to go through all of this. You've been a very proactive patient and I think that's the best thing a cancer patient can do. BTW, I'm a 32 year survivor of cancer and being proactive and dumping my primary care doctor is why im alive today. Sending hugs and hope your way.
Yes. I was my late wife's advocate and caregiver when she was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer before the age of 40. I had/have some cancer research experience, but more importantly, we had an incredible oncologist! Super knowledgeable, a leader in his field, and remained proactive until the end. Find supportive advocates! Find good, proactive oncologists! These physicians are frequently playing a guessing game and the the range of expertise among them is huge.
My Mom died of colon cancer that spread to her liver in 1977. She was 39. When she went her doctor about the blood in her stool he told her it was hemorrhoids. That was so long ago, I’m sure there is better treatment now than then.
This was exactly what my mother was told. She had a colonoscopy and was told it was just hemorrhoids. A year later she came to NY and had lost weight she couldn’t work. It took a week to find out what it was. They originally thought it was kidney stones first. Then found the tumor in her colon but by this time it had spread to the liver. She only could handle 2 sessions of chemo and was sent to hospice care We found out in August and passed in Dec
@@colleb95 that might be, she made me look one time and it was dark blood clots, like period clots, but on her stool. I was still living at home. 17 years old. She had to change doctors to be diagnosed.
So glad you went with your intuition and got a better onco. Praying for your recovery. They do wonders these days. Keep up the good fight and be blessed.
Amy, you told a clear story of your health issues very well. So glad you dropped that oncologist with the 20% detail😠. Wishing you progressively good health 🌷🌷🌷
Amy, it felt like we were having a conversation. Your story is inspiring and you are a natural advocate for your own health. Thank you for sharing your story. I wish you all the good health and happy days in the future. You are a Warrior.
Good call switching oncologists. I've gone from doctor to doctor to find the right one - I don't have cancer but have a swallowing dysfunction and got my diagnosis of EoE when I sought a second opinion. I have gotten worse but I've at least found doctors that are on my side. Keep fighting - you are an inspiration! I teared up a bit listening to your story.
Oh no I’m so sorry you waited so long …. I really hope you’re doing ok … I’ve had cancer before I went to my doctors to ask about some changes in my bust he said it was nothing to worry about … luckily the hospital had kept me on and I still saw them 6 monthly … when I went they didn’t even wait for test results they told me my cancer was back and spread to my skin …. My own doctor had said it was nothing always push for all the test and if anybody thinks there is something wrong please don’t let them say your ok before having proper scans ❤❤
Thank you so much for this information. It’s scary that your symptom was so mild and would for most people have not spurred them on to investigate further. Your oncologist sounds excellent. I wish you all the best, and I hope you get on clinical trials and are helped greatly.

Thank you for sharing your story. Your an inspiration to those who are on a cancer journey with you. I hope your in remission and feeling better. 6/16/24
I have had symptoms of abdominal aches for 10 weeks now.. My stool looks weird..smeels weird.. Signs of indigestion. I have even had backpain for 6 weeks. I have lost some weight and i remember having more frequent diarrea since last summer. I normally do not check my weight.. but it was a pair of pants i got on my birthday on the 8 of march that kind of said,, who,, whats up... I lost around 10 pounds in say 9 months of so would be my guess. Bloodwork looked good. As I got very anxious about these symtoms I got ordered som anxiety and antidepreesants which helped my anxiety. But my symptoms have not changed I have had a CT scan of my abdomen and thorax. No increse in lymphnode size , nothing on pancreas (my number one concern), a small cyste on the bottom of my left kidney and a small cyst on the liver.. But the doctor who looked at my scan wrote in the remission to my doctor that there was no signs of malignices. But they could not say anything about my intestines and colon. If I have cancer it is definately stage 4 and spreading to other parts... Will call the doctors office monday. Doctors are far to reliant on blood work.. Cancer is sneaky... but my doctor did not reorder a stoll test for calprotectin which got lost or could ot be used the first time.. I am not sure my doctor has ordered a FOB test for my stook,, Hidden blood.
I am also curious about your results. I hope its just something innocent. What maybe can help is to use like a food logbook. So maybe you can relate if you ate A will this result in good stool or bad stool. What also can help is to use the barstool chart so you can see which number of stool you have. Which for a doctor is also need to have data. Also write down how many times a day you poop. I hope this information helps :)
If your stools are pale, don't freak out,if you have no gallbladder, it could be no bile is getting into the intestines. White stools are serious. See Dr. immediately, though, as asked for endoscope and colonoscopy. It should start at 40 ,if CC runs in the family, then earlier.
. Hello hi... what your blood test result. I read your comments... same to me what happened. My CT scan normal. ca 19.9 level only increased slightly 41.78. My next appointment Aug 10. Waiting. And i am very depressed.
This this …..infuriates me for many reasons however the number of human beings that lost their lives due to that pandemic is unacceptable .. and Hospitals that cancelled life saving procedures each and everyone of them should be held responsible.. As I said time n time again “ Your a Hospital and Hospitals are for the sick thats why we’re here we’re sick “!! I can’t tell if how many times I had a say this !! God Bless You and your family..🙏🙏🙏
Remember that hospitals were being filled to capacity by very ill or dying COVID patients. And a sizable proportion of our population refused to even mask or not isolate or wash hands; many people didn’t believe that COVID was even deadly. And doctors thought that Ms. Nicole was not seriously ill, so they triaged her in favor of more obviously sick patients. It’s terrible that those with cancer were often overlooked, but I wouldn’t blame hospitals. I’m no medical professional, btw, and I was a breast cancer patient, many years prior to COVID.
@Ceerads I am a medical professional, and you are correct! Working in a hospital during covid19 was like working in a hospital on the front line of a war. It was a war zone! NOT enough supplies, equipment, medications or staff. We were flying by the seat of our pants, and unfortunately, many, many people did not receive the treatment they needed like they would have if it had not been the pandemic. It was a horrible time!
@@cerorchid cancer surgery is an elective surgery. I am a cancer patient in Melbourne, Australia. My cancer spread and became incurable because of our harsh long lockdowns. 😢
Hi, I have stage 4 rectal cancer. My dr said immunotherapy doesn't work for genetic mutation, mss only msi. If you feel comfortable, can you share what yokes is fir this clinical trial.
Might want to get another opinion. See the Patient Story: What is MY Cancer Risk? Lynch Syndrome explained. The doctor says immunotherapy working for this genetic mutation cancer.
I believe there are several reasons. Definitely diet. Too much fast food and seed oils. Not enough home cooked meals with whole foods. Our food is saturated with herbicides and pesticides.
Cancer Antigen test. It a test that measure the levels of spiked protein in the blood. Spiked protein is usually an indicator of cancer being present. The higher the number the more advanced or progressed the disease is.
CA stands for Cancer Antigen which is a blood test (marker) to detect the presence of spike protein in the blood. Elevated spike proteins are an indicator cancer is present. The higher the number the more advanced the cancer is (metastasized).
@@nano2424 you can but most doctors won’t order it by default. Meaning, unless they have a good/just reason to order it to be done. I’ve had 3 done to date and they all have been elevated beyond normal levels. The normal level is less that 35. My first result was 104, my second results was 83 and my most recent one was 100. It is believed my numbers were/are elevated because I have fibroids. Ovarian and cervical cancer was ruled out by a transvaginal ultrasound and a normal Pap smear results. The edit: the reason my gyn ordered the blood test for me because I was having severe pelvic and abnormal pains.
No one wants chemo! If a matter of life or death, do the damn chemo. For some cancers they do chemo first and radiation later. Mine was the other way around. I lucked out and didn't need chemo (Stage I breast cancer). If I would in the future though, I would bite the bullet and do it. For some cancers they operate first and for others they operate last, after shrinkage.
I think for them to not give u a colonoscopy for a year was wrong. I know you are going thru a lot but u might consider getting a lawyer because a colonoscopy should not take a year to get an appt. , even during the pandemic.I am so sorry that you are going through this, i was just diagnosed with diverticulitis and i am going to be getting my first colonoscopy soon and i am slightly afraid but know it is necessary. I will put you in my prayers.
Each person is different I get mad if they don’t tell me the stats and be honest. I feel for you this guy was not for you but this person would be for me
@@annapoornafoodcourt335 everything is good thanks god Found two small polyps(not something serious fortunately) they removed my polyps and found a few hemorrhoids this is why i have blood
@@alphaomega1351 You've obviously haven't heard about metabolic approach to cancer. And you know nothing about Dr.Thomas Seyfried's work. But sure, don't let your ignorance stop you.
Im 40 yrs old and just had my colonoscopy today in the Philippines, my symptoms were constipation with rock hard poop and blood, I had to get colonoscopy for my peace of mind coz Ive been diagnose with depression and I have chronic insomnia. It was just 20 to 30 mins procedure and I don’t even remember anything until the doctor woke me up and said I have good news for you we didn’t find any polyps you don’t have cancer! its was such a relief, don’t be afraid to get colonoscopy, maybe ill have my self check again after 8-10 yrs.
was the blood dripping? mine was just a hard poop and at the end of it came a drippings of blood. I seem to okay the day after. i just thought its hemorrhoids coz i ate spicy for two nights.
Have been blown off many times for serious conditions but one time a doc said I wasnt worth it and and another said I didnt have much time left anyway when I was Average adult approaching mid age. Both out of context, what is that supposed to mean? If you don't want to medically treat people go back to school and become an accountant.
They are only giving you information based on the statistics of your condition. If you desire false hope and lies, perhaps you should seek out some version of religious mythology. 😳
Amy, you are wonderful! Your natural intelligence has so much to do with your approach to your cancer. Others might have sat back and let doctors dictate your future, but you did not. Good for you for being such a brainy and intuitive person.
I worry about this … I haven’t been able to get a colonoscopy since they require you to have someone accompany you. Unfortunately I have no family or close friends in my new town 😕
Discuss it with the doctor and staff to see if there is a solution to your problem. Perhaps if you stay longer in recovery and let most of the sedation wear off and then you can take an Uber or a taxi home. Or is there a hospital volunteer that can accompany you? Can you hire a caregiver for a few hours? Get them to help you figure it out. You need your colonoscopy!
My mum died of bowel cancer, so my siblings and I have been able to get regular testing since we were mid 30s. Thankfully we are all clear, but it’s good to keep up with regular colonoscopy’s etc. Thank you for sharing your story. It certainly could save someone’s life.
These conditions/symptoms works so crazy. I’ve seen so many people that has far worse symptoms bleeding, terrible pain, diarrhea, losing weight etc and a colonoscopy was clear then this young woman had a minor change in stool consistency and ends up with CC. So sorry.
Colon cancer can happen without prior symptoms as it did for my wife on Valentine's Day 2013 when she woke me up in the middle of the night and told me that she had excruciating pain in her abdomen. We went to our local hospital's ER where they did a CT scan, found a mass in her pelvis, and transferred her to another hospital for surgery. By the end of that day they had removed a tumor at her ileocecal valve and did a double barrel shotgun resection. It was stage 3b and she started FOLFOX chemo soon afterward and stayed on it for 6 months except that she stopped the platinum drug after 4 months due to increasing neuropathy. CT scans were negative for years afterward and eventually stopped. She still has the neuropathy in her toes but no other issues. Reply
Thanks so much for sharing your experiences. Informing others is a great gift to give and could make a positive difference to others going through something similar. All the best to you. Sending you healing prayers for a full recovery. ❤
I am getting my colon cancer symptoms checked very soon. What worries me is dying before my parents. I'm not terrified of dying cause I had a near death experience 5 years ago. God was with me and told me not to worry. He loves us and will be there when we go.
Universal energy coming your way. I travel to the west side to be seen at the UofW Medical Center for diffuse system scleroderma (autoimmune) and multiple myeloma. You are in great hands. Both of my diseases are not curable. Did any dr offer Gabapentin to you, this helps neuropathy. I have been on it for 6 yrs to help w/ mine. So glad you went back to your 2nd opinion dr. You are doing an incredible job dealing with all that you are.

It's a good question! Colon cancer is majorly on the up in the younger age cohort and they don't know why. Definitely not something you don't have to think about until you're over 50
I barely noticed it. Dogs gonna bark when they want to bark. My daughter's miniature schnauzer is almost the perfect dog. Sweet and playful and does well with the baby. However, when someone (especially if it's me) comes in the door, she literally squeals and keeps squealing, and it is ear-splitting. We're working on reducing that with limited success. It's awful but she is otherwise just the best.
