Absolute Lrgend!!!!!!!! What a band!!!!!!! I grew up with this band back in the 80s & love them. He is an infectious positive character!!!!! Bobby, Love u brother!!!!!!!!! Thanx for a great interview!!!!!!!!!!!
Overkill is my favorite thrash band of all time! Blitz is a legend and one of the most down-to-earth guys one could ever meet. I saw them live for my very first time back in March of 2022 in the North Carolina mountains. I was at the very front leaning up against the barricade. What an incredible show.
Co-worker handed me a cassette copy of "Years Of Decay" back in '89 and said, "listen to this and get back to me". I didn't want to give the cassette back. I've been a fan ever since. Blitz has NEVER given into fads and changes in the musical landscape over the years and just does what he does. Pure thrash. Take it or leave it.
Overkill are still crushing it. My band, M1 A1, opened for them on their Horrorscope tour in 1992 at the Escape Club in Salisbury Beach, Massachusetts. What a show that was.
What a great guy he is. I just saw him last Saturday in my city, and you can immediately tell how well he has treated his voice. It is unbelievable he sings perfectly. The band is a freaking well-oiled machine, they gave us everything they had, smashed us, and left the stage leaving us with a big smile on our faces. Love you Bobby and Overkill. Hope to see you again.
i only ever got to see Overkill once, it was way back around 1990 when i graduated, "Taking Over" was one of my absolute favorite albums in high school and its still probably in my top 5.
Blitz is the man! One of the best voices I’ve ever heard. Great guy too. But first time I heard his voice with the crushing sound going on around him, I was immediately hooked. He may not take the credit, but Blitz and Overkill should’ve gotten way more
Thumbs up for Bobby Ellsworth! He is one of those guys/frontmen who always is so down to earth, in good mood, honest and likeable. Hope this interview would have lasted for 90 minutes!
Great interview and excellent questions about his voice and longevity. Met Bobby in Toronto for the underground below tour and he was the most down to earth person I met in the genre. We talked about songwriting and recording and helped a lot with the direction and techniques of writing better songs. Hopefully they come back to Canada. And LOUD...LOUDEST concert ever!!
Great interview thank you for asking these questions!! As an aspiring singer with Bobby as one of my biggest inspirations I’ve wondered about all the answers to these questions myself for a long time!Happy birthday Bobby and thanks for everything! Living for the kill! 💚🖤🤘🏻
Great video and wonderful interview. I can positively attest to all the comments about Bobby being a most friendly and brilliant frontman/songwriter. I interviewed Overkill many times as a college kid back in the late 80’s and early 90’s,,, then had the pleasure of working with the band during the I Hear Black/WFO era, and also played in Bobby’s side project years later. Great times!
I had a Beer with Bobby back in the 90's at a Metal Music Night Club in S. St. Louis, Mo. The Metal's Edge! Between sets Bobby was walking through the Crowd of People to the Bar, and i Stopped him for a Brief Conversation!!! Cool Dude!!!
Bobby Blitz is proly the only vocalist to have a talking voice that sounds just like his singing voice 😂😂 like you're gonna hear Eeeeh! any minute now. Also love his signature evil laughter.😈☠️ Which can be so aptly heard in the music of Overkill. Great guy and total legend. All hails to evil venomous thrash ! 🤟👹⚡
Bobby is such a cool bloke and one hell of a singer. Besides, Overkill is one of the fewest heavy metal big acts who remained loyal to the fanbase throughout the years and never sold out.
Blitz has such a unique voice that hasn't really changed that much through the years. It's kind of amazing that he is more like a long-distance athlete at this point. I saw them forever ago opening for Megadeth in club and his voice just shook the place. cut to all these years later and it is still the same power that he brings. Even his speaking voice is not very different from the way he delivers vocals on songs... There is just an intensity a personality that comes out.
I have now seen this video for the first time. I just wrote a RU-vid comment about it a few days ago. For me, Bobby would have been the ideal singer for AC/DC instead of Axel Rose. I'm glad that Bobby personally confirms here that one voice fits especifically for the Bon Scott stuff. This is ecxactly my thinking. Of course I am an old school Overkill fan! Well done to myself ... hahaha!
I'm sorry, but I don't agree with everyone, I think a lot of recognition belongs to Bobby Gustafson, he is Soley responsible for getting Overkill on the map, that's why I still follow Bobby G because even in his 2 Satan's Taint albums, he sounds more like the old school Overkill sound.
I saw em in Miami on Taking Over with the original Megadeth and The Necros opening, on the Peace Sells tour in '87 on Rat Skate's birthday. Overkill was the loudest band I ever heard at this show. And then Megadeth was louder. Some guy hit a pole up the street and Megadeth kept losing power and had to run off the stage a bunch of times. And I swear I saw an early Pogo from Marilyn Manson at this show. It was at the Cameo.
How did that beautiful woman give birth to that ugly, scruffy baby? 🤣🤣🤣 Just kidding, Bobby. You're the best. Back in the day when I first heard Overkill I had this picture in my mind of Bon Scott singing in a thrash metal band.
I Auditioned For Overkill 1983 And One Song We Did Was Fast As A Shark And I Thought He Nailed Udo Back Then Unfortunately Gustafson And I Did Not Mesh Well With The Guitars In 1984 Joined Nuclear Assault And Did A Few Gigs With Overkill In Early 85 The Early Pioneers Of East Coast Thrash Along With Anthrax.
