// SPEAKING UP FOR OUR OCEANS//
Hi, my name is Eve Isambourg,
I am 19 years old.
I am making this video, for you, people of the world, and for our planet, which I hope, is listening right now, feeling that, yeah, some humans care about her, and her future.
I am making this video, so that we come back to basics, just for a few minutes.
Let’s think about it.
If you had to introduce yourself, what would you say?
Would you start by talking about your studies or your job, the place you live or the success you had, your religion, your colour?
Or, would you start by saying, “Hi, I am human, living on planet earth.”
We often forget that our primary characteristic is that we are human beings, inhabiting the earth, and take it for granted.
I mean, have you ever asked yourself, why?
Why we call it “Mother Earth?”, “Mother…”
Maybe because we are her children.
But the worst children ever : accepting to see our mother dying slowly, before our eyes.
We are living on this planet as if we had an other place to go,
But my friends, remember, this is the only home we have.
I grew up in Mauritius, a lost paradise in the Indian Ocean, and I am so proud of my island.
I feel grateful to have a family which cares about nature, and together we’ve travelled a lot,
Seeking waves to ride around the globe : I’ve seen majestic natural landscapes,
Blue horizons, Lagoons for as far as the eyes can see.
But I’ve seen bad things too, pollution and waste all over beaches, lands, mountains, I have even surfed among plastic bottles, and metallic cans.
And how should I react?
Should I pretend not to care, like so many people do?
No, I can’t.
Oceans are everything.
They are the air we breathe,
They are the food we eat,
They are our medicine,
They are our jobs, and economy,
The places we travel to,
The places we love.
So, I just couldn’t pretend not to care.
So, I am gonna fight, for what I think is right.
I am Human, but above all, I want to be a good child,
I want to protect our mother : Earth,
I want to be an advocate for healthy environment,
And a voice for our Oceans.
People of the world, I ask for your attention,
If earth is our mother, we are all brothers and sisters in this matter,
So let’s fight together for something we share, and deep inside all care about,
I believe in us, I believe in our actions for change.
