It's very relatable not knowing you are sick and comparing yourself with others who are healthy making yourself think you are lazy

Especially when they're telling you nothing is wrong, test after test comes back normal, and essentially you're being gaslit about your own symptoms. (My regular gp didn't even notice it in my blood tests, it took my gender clinic dr to point it out, now I'm waiting for my tests in september to know for sure)

About 5 years ago, my wife was feeling extreme fatigue, depressed, gaining weight, losing her hair, couldn’t get off the couch, and felt like she was always coming down with a cold. She would cry for no reason and was miserable. Turns out she has hashimotos hypothyroidism. Over the years she’s tried levotheroxine, nature, and armour, and finally name brand Synthroid, which is the only medication that has worked but she didn’t feel 100%. Doc tried adding B12 shots and testosterone cream for energy but still not a lot of difference. She’s been so upset she can’t lose the weight and says she hates her body and doesn’t recognize herself when she looks in the mirror. After 5 years a new endocrinologist recommended adding T3 along with her Synthroid and she’s noticing a difference already. She also dropped the most inflammatory foods from her diet, under the recommendation of a nutritionist (gluten, sugar and dairy). She’s feeling like exercising again and has more energy. It’s been a long, hard battle but she’s getting there and you will too. Love and hugs!

Thank you for writing this, I am in this same situation and not liking myself, memory loss, lots of weight gain, depressed, no energy, high anxiety and to add a diagnosis with Lupus. Still working on medicines, I am scheduled for an ultrasound this week to see what is happening with my thyroid. Best wishes ahead.

My daughter also has Hashimoto's and it took 20 years to get diagnosed. Whenever they did blood work, her levels were normal and the (male) doctors just wrote her off as a "hysterical" female! We finally found a (female) doctor who is an actual diagnostician and she knew exactly what was going on. She ordered repeated blood work for 3 weeks straight and caught the symptoms. Unfortunately for my daughter, she has lost most of her beautiful hair, gained 100 lbs and has no energy anymore. Please, if anyone reading this knows someone with these symptoms - don't let doctors blow you off!! Keep going until you find someone who will LISTEN TO YOU.

When I went to the doctor and I told them all the issues they told me that it was just me being overweight caused it. They didn't take blood work or anything. I went to the gyno and they need blood work and they found it out when my regular doctors didn't/couldn't..

When you say Test result were normal, what did they measure? They test my TSH... and they don’t do further test. They say its depression!
@KTR2022
@KTR2022 4 года назад
@@leilagingil Your TSH might be normal, in that case you don't have hypothyroidism. However, if you happen to have Hashimoto's disease (which causes hypothyroidism) in its initial latent stage your tsh will be normal (meaning you're euthyroid) but you'll most likely have antibodies and some hypothyroid symptoms. Be sure to ask for a FULL thyroid panel, including tsh, t4, t3 and tpo and tg antibodies.

Don't forget to keep going after a diagnosis even if doctors say everything is fine. I was 20 when I first asked for tests and after a few different doctors I finally got diagnosed yesterday at 25 years old. Sadly sometimes the symptoms have to get worse for doctors to catch it or even to pay attention -- although that's also true for other issues. Keep fighting!
@src4409
@src4409 3 года назад
I researched my symptoms myself because doctors wouldn't listen and i KNEW something was wrong. I then researched doctors that actually know what they are doing...Fmd's and naturopaths. I accidentally cut out caffeine after cutting gluten and dairy because I couldn't find a truly dairy free creamer.... and I can't tell you how much better my energy and ANXIETY are! Cut the coffee! After a month I didn't crave it anymore and after a couple of months I didn't even miss it. Something that helps to get through it is to sub your coffee with something else hot. I use different teas, Braggs remedy, or hot apple cider as a hot drink in the morning replacement. Also, I don't have the same reaction to most caffeinated tea as I do coffee. Coffee is also extremely inflammatory. Good luck!

I'm sorry to hear you feel this way, I have been diagnosed with an underactive thyroid for nearly 20yrs, its only in the last year I've been paying closer attention to my diet - what I eat, what drink, I have reduced the caffeine I consume, I tend to go for high protein, low sugar, balanced diet. I have noticed my mood, supplements support, going out for walks as I find gentle and improved my mood, please be kind an take one day at a time a also try to change one or two things within your routine and see how you feel. Not sure how long you have been diagnosed but it does get better over time as you learn what works for you and more importantly what doesn't. If you ever need to talk. Don't hesitate and try hate towards yourself this will just make you feel worse. Your thyroid is part of you (just like your lungs or your liver) it just doesn't work properly.

Hi Olena! I've been suffering from hypothyroidism since I was 11. I'm 26 right now and for me the hardest part of it has always been the memory loss and gaining weight. Having memory loss really sucks because I don't want people to think I'm not paying attention to what they say, it's just something that we can't control and it's frustrating. On the other hand it didn't help that people laughed at me when I was a child because I was overweight. It really, really sucks sometimes and even after so many years taking my medicine and living with this illness I'm still making mistakes like eating breakfast right after taking my medicine instead of waiting an hour, but it's all about doing your best and even if it's hard sometimes, you end up learning to live with it. You can! ♥️

I feel your pain!! I’m a mom and dealing with this is so hard. Sometimes It’s like I’m the only one who understands and mine actually lead to heart problems. I’ve dealt with so much from it and I’m still dealing with it but I decided to start researching it and trying to find the best way to cope with it. I understand the sleeping & having to stop when you wanna keep going, the doctors, the dry skin it’s just over whelming at times!! But I’m pray for us and our fight against it! I’m happy I’m not alone . I miss myself being fine and before this but it’s depressing thinking about it and the symptoms. My weight gain is crazy and I eat healthy but it’s not changing so I’m not gonna just sit on it I’m gonna do as much as I can to get better!

Gosh, I know exactly how you feel. I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease at the age of 7. After more than 30 operations there’s not much more that can be done. The exhaustion is terrible and as you said, it’s so hard to wake up in the morning. I can’t help thinking about everybody else getting up early in the morning, ready to take on the day whilst I feel like a lazy slob. I also lost over half of my hair, several times before. My Thyroid is regularly underperforming, too. It’s so disheartening when you also feel unattractive on top of everything else. I wish you you all the strength in the world.

Thanks for this video! I started having symptoms my first year of teaching. I shrugged off symptoms as being too tired from teaching. The fatigue I had was extreme, I gained 40ish pounds, and the brain fog was unimaginable. This lasted for months and I went to the doctors and they told me I was fine! All I needed to do was "exercise more and eat better." I tried to explain I was too tired to even get out of bed most days let alone teach. I also tried to explain that i wasn't eating poorly, but I don't think they believed me. Long story short, it was my OBGYN who discovered it. It's been two years for me and it's an ongoing journey/struggle. Good to know I'm not alone!

Both of my parents along with my aunt and cousin all have the same thing. I've known for years that something was not right with my body. Same situation as you. Exhausted every day even with plenty of sleep. Eating healthy, working out, etc. but just feeling foggy, memory loss, and just tired. I never knew other people didn't feel like this until I asked my husband how he felt daily. I've lost lots of hair and I never knew what it was from. Skin has always been dry, even after putting lotion. UGH JUST THE WORST. But it makes me feel soo much better hearing other people's stories and knowing that I wasn't going crazy for feeling this way. - Good luck on the rest of your journey!

I was having heart palpitations and I hated it! and my pediatrician sent me to get lab work done to see if anything was wrong. Came out with low thyroid levels. Before that I was always tired and I mean TIRED and constantly having headaches and it got really bad around 3pm which I was after school. Waking up was always a battle. I've been diagnosed with hypothyroidism since 12 or 13 years old and now I'm turning 18 this sept. I was shocked when you stated every symptom u had gone through cuz I went through the same too and even though I think my weight is average, I knew I had increased weight gain ever since being on the medicine and being diagnosed, hair fall out from my scalp and I get more acne when I keep forgetting to take my medicine and then taking it again. Recently I also found out I have high cholesterol which really upsetted me because even though I was doing everything I could and eating healthy and was not 'fat', I got cholesterol since each time I forgot to have my medicine, I didn't have that hormone of metabolism to break the fat from the food and that eventually gave me cholesterol. Like I went through a lot, even I went to the doctor to check up my heart and then eventually diagnosed with hypothyroid. Thank u soo much for posting this because I don't see a lot of influencers raising awareness. I relate to u soo much now as we even have the same struggles. Keep strong girl! Cannot believe I am suffering for 15 years and have not gotten the hang of it yet. Today was seeing a doctor, I have gained weight 10 kgs in since feb 2020t Approx 0.5 every week, her first thought is eat less, if it was that and at my age then my weight would have gone haywire by now. Such narrow mindedness drives me nuts. I had to explain to het that every time my body seems strange it is always due to changes in my T3 and T4 levels, that is when she ordered tests, An overhaul in health system now my new doc is clueless of underlying symptoms and i had to request for vitamin tests and hormone tests. I was so angry. Thanks for sharing and please all who are going through this insist and read it helps before you see your doctor.

Thank you for making such an honest video. I have hyperthyroidism but have been on meds for a year... it's like you said such a balance to get the medication right, and currently, I'm having hypo symptoms which are not fun... the fatigue is just such a nightmare!! I am also like you and find it very difficult to accept that I can't always do what I want to do... I've always been very driven and pushed and pushed myself, ignoring the signs that I needed to rest and so it's a long process learning to rest and not get really down when your body just wants to hibernate. I found out yesterday that when animals hibernate their thyroid decreases production in order to put them into a state of hibernation..... so the fatigue makes sense I guess! I wish you the best in your journey with your thyroid and I hope that you can get the medication right so you feel even better. Grace B xx

@Lisa Marie yes I have had my dose lowered and raised and it kicks my butt every time it’s changed, but especially when it’s lowered. I have had it for now 12 years and unfortunately I’m just able to sometimes manage it but most the time the weight I have gained from the hypothyroidism hasn’t come off I can loose some of it but then as soon as I do i gain it back and sometimes plus some. It’s a hard struggle. Well I hope you can find a doctor that or someone/something that can help you best of luck :)

@Lisa Marie as for your question to when it will feel better..I’m still waiting. Also everyone’s thyroid hormones affect everyone different especially I have found in women..our bodies are literally hormones lol 😂 I find that my thyroid problems aren’t the same as my dads and he has just hypothyroidism. I didn’t realize I had thyroid issues until after my second child. My pregnancy’s were hard with both kids but I felt that after my second kiddo my body has never been the same. Also I was the first person in my family to find out that I have thyroid issues and then the rest of my family decided to see if they got it. My best advice is to be your own health advocate..speak up for yourself (repeatedly if need be) I hope that helps, I don’t have a lot of advice, I’m still learning and speaking up for myself..it’s been a long battle that I have won yet, I have good days (very few) and not so much. Unfortunately because most thyroid issues can’t be seen it’s hard for people to see and understand. I do hope you the best :)

Thank you for sharing your experience. My labs tell me I have a thyroid problem, but I have not been diagnosed yet. Hashimoto’s runs in my family, so I knew about it for years. I just thought since I surpassed my mom and sister who had it at about the same age that I was spared. Not the case possibly now. There are physicians out there that still don’t understand this condition well as well as Hospitals as I was going in to the ER with bad heart palpitations and they never pulled a thyroid antibodies test or anything to do with my thyroid on me only TSH. My heart palpitations have subsided now, but now I am fatigued, cold extremities, brain fog and memory loss and unbalanced. Be your own advocate. Pneumonia may have set mine off, and I was diagnosed with fatty liver which will take time to correct. There is so much to understand about this disease.

Came here to say thank you. I have not yet been diagnosed with Hypothyroidism (even though I have all the symptoms you've mentioned with decreased libido on top of that) but hearing about your battle and the fact that it did get a little bit better for you gave me hope and made me get out of bed, take my medication and promise myself to keep going.

Thank you so much for sharing your story. I also suffer from hypothyroidism and it is so great to know that we are not alone. ❤️
