This version of Ganondorf is the best written/ most human one imo, it's like the malice/curse has left him, he's not even out to kill them if he can help it, just wants his land back. And he's right, the gods did destroy the people of Hyrule save for a handfull of survivors.
@@ABIGD0G It's because the message of Wind Waker isn't skin-deep. (Yeah, yeah, leave all your r/im14andthisisdeep comments behind; this is a discussion about thematic storytelling.) The way you can tell the difference between good stories and great stories is how they affect the audience. Simple stories of good triumphing over evil are nice and all, but most people already know to be good. Stories with ambiguity or evils that aren't visible take a much deeper hold. That's what was done with Wind Waker. The final boss may be Ganondorf, but the real overarching evil is as the old King put it: that greed and longing for a land which no longer is, and a desperate, futile struggle against the flow of time itself. Kingdoms fall. Lands are washed away. Clinging to the past only drags the future down. Time is inevitable. Trying to fight it leads to sorrow, grief, and destruction. That is Wind Waker's message. Ganondorf's representation in Wind Waker is so relatable because it helps draw notice to the real evil. The game isn't about beating him, it's about freeing the land above the seas from the sins of the past. Besides, adding relatability and depth to a bad guy's intentions helps the audience think for themselves and seriously consider the other perspective. It's an impactful decision in storytelling. Not the easiest method to pull off, but certainly well worth it.
But it's not his land; he just wants power and to him Hyrule symbolizes a glorious past he wants to bring back and control. But the world has long since moved on, and even Daphnes and the ancient sages stand in stark contrast to the children protagonists, trying to force destinies on them that they don't want or need. From the very beginning Link is forced into his role as the hero of legend, he watches his friends give up their lives for him in temples deep underground, and Tetra looks just as uncomfortable in Zelda's clothes as Link does in his tunic. It says a lot that the wish upon the triforce in this game, the ultimate act of good, is to destroy Hyrule forever and let the people of the Great Sea live on in peace. Ganon's malice is in denying that the good times can be now.
"A future, for you?" This is actually kinda sad coming from Ganondorf. He knows his, Zelda, and Link's fates will stay the same, fighting one another over and over again with no peace or rest for them; these are probably the youngest reincarnations he's actually fought directly too. This Ganon is especially disillusioned to the whole reincarnation ordeal, I'm sure in his mind having absolute control over a new Hyrule would allow him to solve all the problems the gods have left their followers. This Ganon is probably the most fleshed out, it's insane
Man, this is my favorite Ganondorf. He's so full of character and for once, he has a plausible reason for wanting to take over hyrule. It almost makes me sad for him.
I love WW Ganondorf. He has more depth and isn't just "haha im bad I wanna do evil things". Heck the first time he saw Link he was just like "Ye dump him somewhere no need to snap his neck". He actually explains that his people were dying and he wanted better life for his people.... so ye ;-;
@@GenetMJF hi first of all I LOVE your pfp ghirahim is one of my favorites. and yea I totally agree they gave him so much more depth in WW. I actually felt bad for him at the end when his wish got taken from him
@@marinawallace8759 thank youu. I wish nintendo would give baddies more depth in the future. Bot just "he is pure evil. That is why he does evil things"
@@AmataTai lol I have played the game before easily in the double digits, I know. I am referring to the video edit he released though. I'm not a meta know it all(you must be fun at parties).
It's so freaking easy in HD so this doesn't count anymore. HD is way easier in multiple ways compared to the original. After playing the original version so often though I don't really mind that quest because I do 100% playthroughs of WW basically every time.
53:00 Ganondorf: *HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHHHHAHAHAHAHHHAHAHAHHHAHAHAHHHHHHHHHHHH* Link: y-you need a cough drop? some medicine, do you need 911 like cuz I-i’m serious if you don’t stop you’re going to *die* Ganondorf: *HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHHHHAHAHAHAHHHAHAHAHHHAHAHAHHHHHHHHHHHH* Link: look here’s my number just call me later and we’ll pick this up later
Windwaker acting like Conductors actually instruct people on how to play a piece lol. Conductors are just there to make sure an Orchestra plays in harmony. He's there to signal to parts of the Orchestra when to start, stop, go louder, when they are too loud, stuff like that. Basically he's the live failsafe to try and keep everyone in sync. But he does NOT tell anyone their notes by wiggling around a little stick lol.
It’s alright PointCrow, we’re all here to support you through your addiction. I have a little something I like to call “collectors anxiety” which I’m also getting help for. Stay strong ❤️
God, I love this game. It was the first Zelda game I ever got into enough to complete and it’s probably my favorite too. Botw is a close second, but there’s no replacement for the level of nostalgia I have for Wind Waker. P.S.; Makar supremacy all the way.
Chase B. Many, many, things will happen..the two brain cells..they are able to solve every known world problem..smarter than God himself..you won’t even be able to imagine it
Last playthrough, I beat sploosh kaboom in under 5 minutes. Turns out when your second win is also a below 19. In, he has dialogue to give you both maps.
I love seeing Eric's genuine reactions to the game for the first time, I played Twilight and Windwaker religiously as a kid and I really enjoy watching someone I like experience it for the first time 💗
I just want to point out that link can walk around weighting atleast as much as the great deku tree. And those random ghost floor arms can pick link up effortlessly when he is wearing those boots
Over 40 years pass by, as we see 70 year old Eric booting up his old Windwaker savefile. "One last time...", he says, not realizing that his "SLOOOOOSH!"-addiction got him once again
It's alright, Eric. I am also an Erik with an association to "Crow" (I'm named after the comic book character The Crow) that has an obsession with Wind Waker. This, Phantom Hourglass, and BotW are my fav Zelda games and are the only ones I've 100%ed. Keep up the great content!
This one is the most violent of all the endings of the zelda games I think, there's no beast form, no 2nd phase, you just plunge you sword 60 cm in the skull of Ganondorf
new shirt idea for pointcrow. its the scene of calvin and hobbs walking across the tree truck, but mekar is calvin and the sploosh -kaboom guy with painting to his face is hobbs.
I just watch all 3 episodes of this amazing game, and man, I played the GCN version back in 2005 when I was like, 10?, and It was so heartwarming see all of your reactions through the entire game! I sad that WW is not a finished game, but It sure was made with love, is so beautiful!
