I have a similar story. Just a year and a half ago I was a piper at an amazon phlebotomy warehouse making nothing! Signed up for a bootcamp and learned Rudy on Rails and now I'm making the big bucks. Shout out to the shkreli coding academy. Job Ready!
Job ready! Your story resonates with me. I got a 6 month contract at Uber. My first tech job. 31 yrs-old, no degree. Honestly, the only reason I got the job was due to networking.... Yes, I did well on the interview, but I would have, in no way, been able to get the foot in the door without the reference. Congrats on the first job! That's huge.
Fantastic news! I am so very proud of both of you :) I think learning through a mentorship (like a trade) can be a very good option for many wanting to succeed in programming.
