They credited the account and said call back in few days. I made sure I got confirmation numbers because they didn't even say them. I bet they weren't going to give them to me either. Sooo yeah I finally got it closed but it took me many months to get them closed.

When someone says an account holder passes away, they restrict the account. Proof can come from different sources such as lexis nexis verification, but sometimes these verifications take a while to come up when someone passes away. Usually companies ask for a death certificate if it cannot be verified in any of these databases. A lot dont call the client and just wait for the relatives or beneficiaries to call to start the process of transferring assets or anything like that (they wait for them to be ready to move forward with the process). Since the call abruptly dropped after OP said she was dead, they had to restrict the card to prevent fraud.

The story about the server infuriated me. If you’ve never been a server, you won’t fully understand how ridiculous that situation was. I completely disagree.. he wasn’t making a bigger deal out of it than it really was. That chick seemed entitled as hell and OP had every right to be pissed off and act the way he did. Are you kidding me?! He said that take out gets an higher hourly rate while servers get the bare minimum hourly rate bc they live off of tips. That was a fireable offense in my opinion. For the credit card one. Being an authorized user isn’t all that at all. I don’t see any problems with him initially being on the card. He has permission from the GMA to use it when he first got it. That cop has no idea of the details & I’m sure an attorney can plead him to a lower charge instead of a felony. The judge will assess the situation & look at all of the evidence in the case. They will see OP paid the bills, handled his gmas finances, & was essentially a big part of her life. He shouldn’t have used it after speaking with the police. I’m also thinking team A maybe closer with his gma than portrayed if one of them are going through her credit card statements with a fine tooth comb. I don’t think he should stress out, easily explainable.

If it’s a person you don’t know don’t get them a gift card. I had a friend I met on a game that I would talk to on Facebook. I'm in the states; he lives in England. I was about 13 to 14 years old when all this happened and he started becoming obsessed with Death. He would tell me that he's going to end his life, log off, then not be online for about a week, sometimes longer before and I would be devastated and grieving. Then he shows back up and starts a conversation with me as if he'd been on the best vacation of his life. He did this over and over and over and over again. At a certain point I had had enough and I went online pretending to be my sister and informed him that I died in a car crash. I logged off and after a few days ghosting him, I deleted that account and made a new one that I blocked him from immediately. Maybe not the best thing I could have done but I did recover after he was no longer in my life. I'm 30 now.

For the credit card situation, I don't understand why he can't just show proof that the money that was put on the card was his or hers. Whatever the situation maybe? If he never actually used his grandmother's money then how are they charging him with fraud? His grandmother gave him permission to use the card before she started having memory loss and he's paying half of her rent. So how is he being irresponsible? At least with that card? I don't think you guys really know how much money it takes to start a business or to keep it afloat especially in the first 5 years of a business starting.

My ex bfs fled the police when they wanted to stop him for something wrong with his drivers license, cause he was so worried about them finding the drugs he had in his car. Police pursued him with multiple cars over the course of like an hour (he had a pretty fast car too) , happened on the highway (majority of it at least as far as I know) and when he finally got off the highway he crashed into two cars waiting at a red traffic light at the end of the exit, killing two people in the process and badly injuring the rest of the passengers including himself (almost lost his leg etc...) also a bunch of collateral damages along the highway when he must have lost control over the car at times... So I think that is a pretty major reason for a non-pursuit-rule, alongside other damages of course, but just to avoid people getting hurt if possible I guess... And they just wanted to pull him over because the had info that he hadn't renewed or whatever his license smh... what a tragedy :/
