🌙 ABOUT ME 🌙
Hi! My name is Alice and I love books! I read just about everything from classics to contemporary fiction, adventures to mysteries, fantasy to all kinds of non-fiction - and I love reviewing and recommending books, and just generally having a chat about literature. I also adore baking, hot chocolate, crafts and basically everything cosy, soft and peaceful. I currently live in Oslo, Norway.

I've always had a difficult time with summer. I actually get seasonal affective disorder in summer. I have been out of the country and while I was gone, we hit 112°f (around 45°c). In summer, I tend to read more romance and mysteries, but I'm such a mood reader, it's difficult to set an actual tbr. However, I do plan on reading the second Emily Wilde book after the book I'm currently reading.

Summer I used to love it but the heat gets to me. I love rain we have been having lots of thunderstorms here on the mountain. I think because we are so up high they are intense. We have a round home so you feel like you are in a treehouse in summer. So when it rains you can see it all the way around you. I love it!! When it snows it’s like a snow globe. I wish I could send you pictures it’s awesome! Anyway summer is ok but Fall is my absolute favorite!

I am starting to read all the books I got featuring Maisie Dobbs by Jacqueline Winspear which takes place at the end of WWI into WWII. Maisie is a psychologist and investigator with an empathetic interview technique that gets people to trust her to help solve mysteries. She has an interesting back story as a maid and a nurse during WWI. I am starting this series as it is ending at book 18 but the author has started another series taking place after WWII. So far, I love it.

I run into the same problem with witchy and dark academia books. THere are so many I want to read, and fall isn’t long enough. Last year I started some DA in August and most likely will do the same this year. I want to read The Fury soon too.

I have The Silence of the Girls, Her Majesty’s Royal Coven, and League of Gentlewomen Witches all on my TBR. I’m very much a mood reader so I can’t really say they are going to be read this summer. lol I did enjoy the Wisteria Society. I’m really interested to hear your reaction to The Silence of The Girls. I’m concerned it might be a difficult read emotionally but I’m so drawn to it at the same time. I’ve had Welcome To The Hyunam-Dong Bookshop on (and off) my TBR a couple of times. I trim down my TBR sometimes, but I keep putting it back on there later. 😂 Anyway I look forward to seeing your reactions!

The mermaid one sounds great! This summer I hope to read anything by Gabriel García Márquez and Rohinton Mistry, they both write wonderful summery books (not necessary light, but happening in the hottest days of summer)

Hi Alice I don’t like Summer when it gets up to 100 Degrees F which it does every Summer during the months of July & August. Those are the two hottest months for us where I live at. September is our beginning of Fall Season. I love love Fall and Winter for the most part. I just don’t like the Ice Storms that we get every year during our Winter Months - December - February. Sometimes in March. Enjoy your Books Take Care & Happy Reading ❤️🤗🔰📚📖☕️❤️

I *loved* My Year of Rest and Relaxation, but I know tons of people don't. Keep in mind that it's a black comedy -- you just have to suspend your disbelief, if you can. I'm dying to read A Study for Disobedience! It sounds so creepy and delicious! I love mermaid stories, and especially love seklie stories -- great summer reads. Can't wait to hear what you think of these!

Always look forward to your channel 🤗 I am eating ice cream watching you! Prior to that made some banana bread. I don't like summer either. The heat, humidity and sun bother me, I have Lupus. Before that I didn't care for it either. I LOVE to read outside, usually under a tree. I WANT to be outside, but just can't hack the sun and heat, always looking for shade. Fall is my favorite season, wish it was that yr. round. I like cozy everything. I love that cover for Study of Obedience!, might try it. Want to read The Mermaid Of Black Conch ( haven't read a mermaid bk. Did read a Selkie one. DEFINITELY the Yuan Dong Bookshop! Your description was all I needed to hear also. My kind of book. I would recommend HESTOR to you. Can't think of the author at the moment. A woman, her first bk. SOOO GOOD!! Scottish woman and husband come to Salem, Massachusetts. She has a " gift" of seeing colors. It is a real legitimate thing explained in beginning of book. She meets Nathaniel Hawthorne ( don't spell it same way, but you know it's him. It would take forever to describe/ review; but it is EXCELLENT!! I will DEFINITELY reread, a keeper. Not presently reading anything. Just can't since my sister died.

But I’ve read 8 of your past recs in the last month and there hasn’t been a clinker yet. I’m really loving reading again and it’s due to your wonderful channel. Thank you Alice 🙏🥰

I love seeing more of the sun but hate the heat! 🌞😄 I just finished The Light Pirate by Lily Brooks-Dalton. A girl born in a hurricane, dystopia with an element of magic, climate change, and survival. I loved it. It was a slow moving, can't put it down book. Terrifying, with our storms and climate changes we have today. Edit: I do want to read Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt this summer.

I read a book called The Mermaid Chair decades ago. I remember liking it but can't remember the story. I'm going to Alaska the end of the month so I have a cozy mystery, romantic com and nonfiction lined up for my trip. I always try to find books that take place to my vacations. I read my first graphic novel. The Secret Garden by Mariah Marsden. I've never read it and will be looking forward to reading the classic. I'mcurrentlyreading James by PercivalEverett.

Thank you for another great video. I wanted to tell you I bought a copy of The Secret History, the way you talk about it made me so curious to read it, not sure when I will get to it but I will tell you as soon as I read it what my thoughts are. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on all the books you have chosen. We are just starting winter here in Tasmania so summer reads for me are a few months away 😊

Alice is my favourite too. Used to watch another popular UK booktuber, but noticed they all just "collecting" books and you never actually get reviews on these books. Its obscene to have a book haul every month of 40 /50 books, which are just sittimg on their shelves and never get read. Alice has TBR and book hauls sure, however I,ve noticed she does actually read and rate most of them, and her book purges are the best! ❤😊 also forgot to mention Alice has her book reviews in different genres per video, not scattered genres and all mixed up. 😂😂

@@jenniferrosebruce6385absolutely! US viewer here and the recommendations she makes are top notch! I’ve read soooo many books that I never heard about, without Alice’s help. And she consistently posts, and doesn’t push sponsors and “watch exclusive videos on my patron” nonsense.
@TheBookCastle
@TheBookCastle Месяц назад
Ooop, I hope it’s okay with the veeery occasional sponsor because there might be one soon 😅❤️ I also am very lucky in that I have a full time job outside of this, and don’t rely on RU-vid to pay my bills (I would have to do things like consistent sponsorships/ads + maybe Patreon to do that, and I think that’s why some other booktubers might be doing that) ❤️ I’m glad to be able to have all my content for free, but I get why some creators don’t 🥰
