My take on the Dezhu Liu 800 metres run, 1.45"66 (20 April 2024) 

Here I (Tanis Leonhardi; she/her/hers; of Seattle) talk through the Dezhu Liu (Liu Dezhu; of China), 800 metres run race at the 2024 Wanda Diamond League meet in Xiamen, China (time of 1 minute and 45.66 seconds in the final on Saturday 20 April 2024). With his time he achieved a personal best time, a China record time, and ninth place. I provide my take/perspective on his performance and contextualize it in terms of representing the host nation well in this event.
