I know you and the team take a lot of pride in the production of your videos, but I honestly wouldn't mind more of these off the cuff videos every once in a while, it's quite fun!

This kind of video feels accessible to everyone. Old RU-vid. Turn in a camera and go. Also clear, concise in straight to the points. It be cool to get more videos like this from you and the rest of your team, because it's like we're getting taken away from the fancy editing and cameras and just hearing your voice. The quality of your work is amazing and we appreciate getting that and please keep that up, but moments like this is also very genuine.

In my opinion the panel gap issue is important when factoring in the used vehicle market. Often I find that cars with very inconsistent panel gaps may have been in an accident that wasn’t previously reported.

That 5G hot take is very valid. My roommate’s dad is a data engineer and we knew back in 2020 that 5G would be half-baked for a few years at least. I am hopeful, but for rn 4G LTE is still rock solid by comparison.

Absolutely agree that 5G sucks right now. While I almost always have a 5G symbol in my area, there are places where it shows 3-5 bars…. But I can’t even make a phone call or send a text unless I switch to 4G.

Lived in Denmark all my life, moved to Australia 3 months ago. 5G is awesome in Denmark. But damn, I did not know a modern country like Australia could suck this much regarding wireless and cabled network. I didn’t expect to miss home due to lack of easy cellular connectivity.

I'm glad someone's actually talking about how bad 5G is. I switched from a 4G entry level phone to a 5G enabled phone (both with Verizon) and if anything my connectivity has gotten worse, not better. I find I have no service more often, and even when my phone displays 3 or 4 out of 5 4G bars I still can't get basic things to load like a web search or Google Maps.

Let me grab my popcorn 🍿 for this one.

Enjoyed the talk, 1st time listening to Marques, Man seems to be knowledgeable and thoughtful, and has an enjoyable delivery. I saw the title, listened through everything so I could get to "why" 5G sucks ... Yes, I was expecting complaints without any understanding of the real technical reasons why it sucks, but he's got it, so good on him.

Love that you brought up how bad 5g is. When I first got my fold 3 I turned off the 5g. Somewhere down the line either Verizon or Samsung hid the option to disable it and now I wander around on 4g while my wife struggles to get signal just feet away from me because her phone is still trying to pick up 5g. The fact that companies were charging more for 5g enabled phones when it first came out is insanity now looking back on it.

I feel the same about 5G. It’s been really hit or miss for me. It’ll work great in one spot and then drop when step 5ft over or when I go in the workshop. Heaven forbid I shut the door. It’s actually a relief when I see 4G LTE.

He started this channel all by himself, ran this channel for a couple of years all by himself and then a person by person he built his team for literally every little task except him being the guy on the camera but then he shows us all that he still is capable. I don't mean to say that he's all of a sudden rusty now but he's good man, he is what a creator should be. I love this man 💖

Excellent video as always. Very informative. As in most things 'tech'. Whenever there is something introduced - tech-wise - these companies shrewdly market them, hype them and give you all of the benefits of them long before they come out. This 5G is no exception, as with graphics cards, USB transfer speed ratings and other assorted products and services, for example. These things look and sound, great 'on paper', but usually don't deliver on the 'hyped' promises for a long time after their introduction. It's kind of sad, but this is the way of things for at least 30-35 years now. These are the 'cards' that we are dealt....Grazie. Keep up the good work MDBHD. Your videos are very enjoyable to watch!

I love the way Marques can take a product that I'm emotionally invested in and tell me what's wrong with it, AND for me to have a positive reaction about what he's saying. That takes some real skill and charisma to pull it off.

I’m not sure why so many creators think that over-produced, glitzy, hi-tech videos are the way to go. I’m in it for your basic clear audio, basic clear camera angle, and thoughtful and engaging minds sharing ideas. It’s the personality, articulation, and content that surpasses the rest. Completely agree on all the points you raised - it's just common sense I think, something which seems to be becoming less 'common' as time passes! 🤭

Just upgraded to my first 5G phone (iPhone 14 Pro) and I can’t even tell the difference. Sometimes my connectivity on 5G even feels worse. That’s what drew me to this video.

This man really made a better-quality video than a lot of youtubers with anything he had at home. BTW the yeti mic might not be much of a talking mic and more for gaming, but it sounds GREAT.

Honestly, this production quality is still top tier and wouldn't mind more of these kinds of videos! And I share in the frustration with 5G. I've had way more connection issues than with my previous phones that used 4G.

Love this video format. It feels more like a podcast. Also, not sure how it works with carriers in the US, but here in Canada 5G has opened the door for mobile data throttling. I believe that this was introduced in fall or summer 2022. So depending on how much you are willing to spend on your data plan determines whether or not you receive 5G or 5G+, according to their branding. So on Rogers for instance, in order to be guaranteed 1Gbps data speeds you would need to be paying $100/month on your phone plan. It's outrageous that something sold as some world changing innovative technology has really just become a way for them to line their pockets by digging further and further into ours. Just another way for them to sell to us according to privilege, and manipulate our senses from what we expect to what we actually end up getting. Every carrier here is now selling plans with "high speed internet" that is unlimited, but slows at a data cap according to the cost of your plan. To find out that "high speed" actually means max 250 mbps and would drop substantially feels like a con. Not to mention, like you, I believe the consistency of it to be appauling. We now have these crazy high (unnecessary) allotments of "data plans before throttling" which are unnecessary for the most part, because if in more rural settings the speeds are so slow even when within data allotment it makes the amount of high speed data you get useless. Makes me sad how much we rely on these companies as partners in our everyday lives in modern times.

As others have said, you should do more of these. The production quality is fine, just like panel gaps most folks probably don't care (that much). Also +1 on 5g. I've forced my phone back to 4g many times and had a better/faster connection.

Great concept, do more of these, but wanted to note, two of the takes might just take longer to fulfil their promises.

As a “regular person” when it comes to cars, I feel like if I got a car and it had panel gaps, I would be worried not about the gaps themselves, but about other potential unseen build issues that could actually pose a safety risk. Quality control is pretty important in cars.

Completely irrelevant. You know what regular people also don't care about? Their cars being tested at the Nurburg Ring. Everything you said about 5G is accurate. It is slow in buildings and I have found out that my iPhone 10 works better than my iPhone 12 for internet browsing and is more consistent. I am praying that 5G technology does find its areas to improve in over the next few years.

I think the Panel Gap Issue comes down to "If they cannot fit the panels, where else will they have quality issues?" Espacially because it is not that hard to do, given the right tooling.

The Tesla take is interesting. Here in Australia, we receive cars from Shanghai and the gaps and build quality are literally meticulous, I have a Shanghai Y. It’s so interesting to hear all of the feedback on this subject as it’s seemingly a Fremont only issue.

Definitely more like this. Also I find myself switching off 5G on my iPhone unless I’m in a location where historically I know the service is great.

Enjoyed the video. Agree with the last two points for sure. My Model 3 is an Aug 2020 build. Not perfect but certainly not terrible. Love the car. And yes, 5G does suck.

Cool video. I like this style of simple talk and updates. A hot/personal takes video is a nice idea that you can even repeat every now and then due to the constantly changing tech world. It's nice to sit down and talk about this stuff in a wide scope instead of complicated talk. I agree with pretty much all your points as well, especially the crypto and 5G points.

I'm glad I'm not the only one experiencing the DLS like speeds of 5G in my area. AND I LOVE that ATT purposefully disables the option to turn off 5G. So I get CRIPPLING SLOW SPEEDS by me, which I expected, since I don't live in Chicago anymore and now live in the sticks of Mississippi (by choice, was never a big city person). BUT glad to hear everyone has that issue with 5G. Also, not like my S22 Ultra isn't made for it. Though, my Fiber has been spotty lately, I think they're physically upgrading the cables to allow greater than 1Gbs speeds, and wanted to use the 40+GB of teathered from my plan. Can't do that with my S22 Ultra which picks up the 5G from Mobile, but luckily I still have like 100 other smart phones and used the Razer Phone 2 (my go to emulation phone), as a hotspot which also showed it supported LTE 4G+ speeds. And I magically got back the 100Mbs speeds I was getting from my LAN switcher. Compared to the 5Mbs I was getting from my S22 Ultra's 5G.

I like to find out about new tech, it's definitely relevant to me, but I don't ever listen to anyone else talk about it (other than Linus). I think it's just because you tend to have a very level headed approach to reviewing these things and it's nice to listen to someone who feels so genuine. You are a wonderful force in this world and I will forever be a fan :)
