Hiiii everyone, So today’s video is all about my decision on getting new veneers. For those who don’t know i recently re-did my veneers so I wanted to open up about why i decided to redo , why i got them in the first place and also share with you guys my entire journey with my teeth from before veneers to now. This is a very sensitive topic since i was very insecure about my teeth growing up but the decision to redo them is something i wanted to change for quite some time and while i understand many of you may not have noticed the issues to me it was something that bothered me daily so i hope this video explains it all and you guys enjoy! Xo

I’ve always been so self conscious about my teeth. After 3 years of working I was finally able to get braces last year and I was so emotional about it. I was in the same boat, it wasn’t something my parents could ever afford. Now I smile and look forward to not being embarrassed about my smile. Thank you for sharing your story. I always felt like I was the only person to feel that way, but I guess you’re never really alone 🥺❤️

Super relatable on the my parents couldn’t afford braces part. BUT after doing research & feeling helpless I decided that I would just take a loan out & pay for it myself. To my surprise I was told that medical would cover it. How it works is that if you’re under medical (government issued medical for low income) you can get an assessment to see if you’re teeth are essentially bad enough for medical to cover the costs. Not everyone who has medical will get it covered but it doesn’t hurt to try & get assessed for it. You might get lucky like I did & get it paid for.

I always get so blown away with how expensive dentist procedures are in the US 😱 it’s crazy! I live in Colombia and you can do braces for less than $30 a month 😅

My parents did the best they could ... they got me braces at 11years of age ... but braces in TJ Mexico .. for half the price of USA prices ... the dentist did a good job 👍🏻 a lot of people travel from Cali to Mexico for dental work :). Karen, your teeth are beautiful 💛

I’m about to cry. Girl I understand! I have an underbite that I hate and my parents could never afford braces either. They saw it as unnecessary. I learned to smile in a way to hide it, but it still doesn’t always and I’m really self conscious about it. Do not be ashamed or embarrassed of doing something that makes you feel more confident!! Thank you! I am in the process right now… waiting on my temps. I have become so unhappy with my teeth that I avoid smiling. My Dentist even told me to relax because when he asked me to smile for him… I couldn’t! I had become used to doing the closed lip smile for so long that it felt unnatural to me to smile. 😭😭my teeth make me sooo depressed and suic....idal even! Like i get really bad icant explain it. I started losing teeth durinh my pregnancies and have never been able to afford fixing them, so thankful for mask mandates 😩 it is literal hell! Everyday trying to eat andtalk is a challenge my health is declining , so imvery happy you were able to do this for yourself! Amazing!!!

I’m 37 and just started my braces journey. I have hated my teeth my entire life, mine were worse than yours, I had the high canines and all. I had no pictures showing my teeth and literally 2 months in my braces I show my teeth. Being insecure because of a smile sucks. And I HATED when people told me my teeth gave me character 🙄 no they give me insecurity. But working on my journey now!!! Your teeth are gorgeous now tho 🤩

This is why I love you so much!! You are always so transparent and humble. I grew up with a lot of teeth problems, and so I can relate to the bullying. It was something I dealt with from middle school to high school. People can be so cruel. After my mom lucking out and finding an insurance to cover my braces, I was still bullied. It’s crazy how different people treat you based on your looks.

I 1000000% understand the insecurities you went through with your teeth. My teeth have been something I have always been insecure about since I was a child. Thank you so much for being so open on a subject that is really sensitive to you. I understand how everyone saying your teeth were fine to begin with, BUT you are the person who lives with them and sees them day to day. Thank you so much for sharing this. I never smile because of my teeth. I've looked sad for years and I want that to change. You've given me the confidence to figure out a way to do this. My teeth have been my biggest insecurity for years. I never smile with my teeth :( I’m a working MUA as well so I totally get how you feel. Hi Karen, Thannnnnkk you!! for opening about this! Like you said it is a sensitive topic. I also did not grow up going to the dentist so often and my mom could not afford braces. I had teeth behind teeth and when I started working I decided to do something about it. I felt odd, I was a 27 year old with braces but it made me feel like I can be more confident about my smile. It has been a journey and honestly, I always wondered what is the secret behind influencers who have a perfect smile and in reality, there is no secret it just takes honesty to talk about it with others and I thank you for that, cause there are are many people who keep procedures a secret.

Girl I can relate with this on an acne level. I have tried everything from drugstore to high end and nothing has worked for me. Finally I’m like it’s time to invest in myself for myself and am getting on accutane tomorrow!! I’m excited and can’t wait to gain that confidence back. Girl I can relate!! I’ve had acne all my life and it was pretty bad to where I didn’t feel confident without makeup or even with I felt I looked like a crunch bar😩 I already wore hoodies to cover my forehead acne, and had people make fun of me. I tried so many things and eventually went to a dermatologist. It was found I had a hormonal issue which made sense bc I did take care of my face amazingly and still had acne. And I was started on a med ( not as strong as accurate) but it’s worked for me and i haven’t had acne since. Cheers to us sis!! Hope your skin gets better♥️

I’m so happy for you. I come from a family of dentists and your old ones were quite distracting because teeth are the first I see and like you said, they look like chicklet. i love the transparency in this video! i’m in the same boat of my mom not being able to afford braces for me but now as an adult i’ve been saving up and i have my appt in a few weeks i’m so excited!

At least you had that slight bit of confidence enough to smile in your photos. Girl, I NEVER smile with teeth in ANY of my photos. When I laugh, I put my head down so no one can see my teeth. That's how self CONSCIOUS I am about my teeth. It's a deep self-esteem struggle😩

Thank you for sharing this personal struggle/journey with us. I loved your transparency in this video. I struggle with my teeth as well and I think this video was very inspiring and let’s me know I’m not alone with the struggle. Hopefully in the future I will be able to fix my insecurities. The finished and complete look, is amazing!! They look great! I’m so happy for you!
