My Thailand Dome Home - Full Tour

I built my tiny dome home on a large organic mango farm far into the countryside of northeastern Thailand. After receiving an amazing response from around the world, my dome-building friend Hajjar Gibran and I have created a new website to provide you with more inspiration, designs, tools, and training: www.DomeGaia.com
I had my dome home up and painted in six weeks.
The cost for the basic structure was under $6000. Adding doors, screens, a pond, an upstairs patio, stonework, and landscaping took a few more weeks. All this, including furnishings and plumbing, was under $3000. ..Bringing my total cost to about $9,000. Please keep in mind this is in cost-friendly Thailand.

I agree with Jeff DeWitt, it definitely has character - one can read your special, personal attributes through the creation of your home. It's very serene, the earthen colours give it its warm - welcoming touch, mingled with the coolness of the water and lush. It seems like a touch from the 'Garden of Eden'! So homey! Love those window nooks and the oblong shapes! The gorgeous lacquered slab table is also perfection in that spot! The huge round living room window for a picturesque view is ideal! The most beautiful and inviting tiny home I have ever seen! Hats off to the builder and designer!

This doesn't look dangerous at all! absolutely genius. It inspired me to make my dreams come true. Divorced; kid's are grown; Dr said "you're retired, no more gigging with the bands". LOL... okay, got my doggy and me. This IS inspiration dude. Just pulled out my plans for 20yrs ago for remodeling. The wife said "nope"...so guess what? Just when you thing it's all over, here you come..!! Thanks ...I love it!

That is one of the most beautiful homes I've ever seen in this size. Unfortunately, it can't be realized where I live...stupid building regulations forbid that kind of creative houses to be build. However, It has for sure given me inspiration for a project for my garden. There are no regulations that forbid me to build a "shed for gardening tools"..lol.

Chris P. Bacon Not so much around my neck of the woods. 🙂 The only restrictions is it's got to be build safe and it can't be larger than a given size. You see, no one would believe it is just a shed, if one build 200 m2.

Man, I do not have words to express how awesome your house is. I just discovered domebuilding and aircrete after many years pondering of creating a container/tiny house home. Wow my mind is exploding with ideas here Im sitting in a bungalow in the currently rainy Brazilian atlantic rainforest. Thanks so much Steve for sharing your home, photos, music, everything. I think you got a spectacularly good energy and I really appreciate what youve shared. great but looks a bit dangerous...slippery stairs and platform. I'd add bushes to the left of the initial staircase(to catch in case of a slip), and some sort of railing system for the hammock area. How much did it cost in materials? It is amazing. Love the window sills large enough to lay in. Everything about this is great.

I just love it! So beautifully thought out and well-built. I would imagine waking up every day to this beautiful home would make you feel filled with joy. So many amazing features incorporated...my favorite room is the dining/sitting area that looks out onto the pond. But, all of it is truly a work of art.

Well I would just love one of these in my son's backyard.. perfect for a single grandmother... my grandchildren would love coming over.. Steve this house looks amazing! I love all the accents and personality you’ve given it but I REALLY love what you’ve done with the shower. No curtain, just plants to soak up the excess water. Woo hoo! For the past couple of years I have been looking at dome homes planning a build in the southern California desert and kept seeing images of this home, but was unable to find anything giving the name of the designer. Watched a tiny house video and boom, there you were. Off to the website to see how this plan would do in high heat and possible flash floods.
