To be fair roma had no business playing that final. I remember thinking at the start of the season that if they reached the quater finals it would be Ok given the other teams in the competition
@@brandonayong5823 well Mourinho lost, have to accept it!!! else, per Irish guy, we could say the players at porto, chelsea, inter, manutd, roma won their titles, Mourinho didn't win anything!!!👍
@@abg6461Well if you say it was the players for the victories you have to say it's the players in defeats For me it's always both the manager and the team in victories and defeats
@@brandonayong5823 please tell this to the Irish guy in your daily Mourinho news mate, he said it not me!!!👍my opinion is in the first part of my earlier reply, Mourinho lost and whatever he said to feyenoord manager, he should now say it to himself!!!👍
Actually the only reason roma lost is not mourinho. It's not the ones who missed the penalties. It's not even the referee. It's Ibanez. He missed a clear open goal to make it 2-0 that would have completely killed the game
Apart from that time he poked Tito in the eye from behind...... Or the time he lied about a ref being biased and got banned because of it....... Or the time he publicly insulted Luke shaw even though Jose could actually play football and could only dream of being as good as Luke shaw...... Or the time he called Wenger a failure, despite being the one who got sacked 5 times..... Or the time he..... Oh forget it.
@@NeilLewis77 by your logic you can't criticise Mourinho either seeing as you've never managed at the highest level of the game winning numerous trophies. In fact you've probably never put out the cones for the under 8s on a Saturday morning
@@RyAn-sj7ck "like shaw, he play the game with his legs but my brain. The whole game" Now I can't imagine any other managers talking about their players in public like that. But if they did, I would hope they at the least they used to actually play the game themselves. If you can't see a problem with Jose talking like that then I don't know what to tell you mate.
My notification just said "Mourinho just had a Europa League...". I just assumed the last word would be meltdown. Been watching the Irish Guy for too long not to know this.
1:50 - When it comes to penalties, the manager's substitutions can be called into question. He'd taken basically all of the penalty takers off the pitch, for injury or otherwise, Roma were relying on Mids and Defenders to take the 5, of course the manager's input has an effect on the outcome
and the managers order, their first 5 penalty takers were defenders and defensive midfielder, either the 3rd or 5th penalty is the most important, both taken by defensive minded players
Dybala came from an injury so it was either starting the game then taking him off or saving him for later but he knew that without him starting roma could easily lose in the first 90 minutes. Starting him was the right decision
I'm sad Mourinho didn't win, but the fact that Roma made it to the Europa League Final just shows you that he isn't finished. Especially when you look at the teams who was in the 1/8 finals, Juventus, Arsenal, Man United, Leverkusen and so on. MOURINHO IS STILL A TITAN OF EUROPEAN FOOTBALL!!
@@filippobrunone1717 No because im not a coach bro how stupid are you. Its like if I criticize Messi for not scoring and you say “Could you of done better”
He beat Feynorod in the Top 8 and beat a Levekusen team that didn't win any of their last 7 games and hasn't won in a month. If anything, his win in the last 16 over Real Sociedad is the impressive one.
The worst 10 minutes of my football Fandom was when roma had a free kick and Anthony taylor stopped the game dead for like 5 minutes then they had another one and he did it again for 3 minutes then they had a corner and he stopped it for like 2 minutes. Worst referring this season and I've seen the PL matches 😂
Daily Potter news: Graham Potter warned Boehly against signing Enzo Fernandez for over 100m+ as it would be an overpriced transfer. Apparantley this was one factor that led to Potter's sacking,
@@gumdeoUEFA disqualified Antony Taylor for his bad refereeing, he cost us 70 million euros, money that we will no longer have and we can only see it with binoculars. Tell me, UEFA are Mourinho fanboys?
Jose is really passionate i can tell he meant nothing by it and was just mad he didn't win the finals, but being too passionate is also really bad and can get you into some bad situations.
Hard disagree on the first part of the video and the PSG's part: "at penalties the players lost, not the managers" - wrong, the managers go into the game knowing that they have the possibilities to go to penalties and they could avoid it by implementing some tactics that would allow their teams to play football. Roma and Sevilla both played and behaved quite poorly and the way the game was set was given by their managers. And quoting directly from LazarouDave in one of the comments here "When it comes to penalties, the manager's substitutions can be called into question. He'd taken basically all of the penalty takers off the pitch, for injury or otherwise, Roma were relying on Mids ans Defenders to take the 5, of course the manager's input has an effect on the outcome" "Roma had better players than Sevilla" - everyone who watches Italian football knows that this is not true. Sure Roma may have shinier names, but most of them are mid or are often out of shape, with the only real great player being Dybala (but he's often injuried). Roma's bench is dreadful with the exception of El Shaarawy. Sevilla had more talent and its penalty takers were far superior even on paper. It did not matter that the team is sailing in the middle of La Liga, since the new coach joined they recovered and were on the verge of the conference league. "Mourinho should go to PSG": it would be like lighting a match in a room full of gas, Mou would be fired before the end of the season
@@harrysutton2097 It's a european final against sevilla, you ALWAYS expect extra time with them because when you don't they either beat you before the whistle or in extra time because you weren't prepared There isn't a manager out there that doesn't prepare for pens in any euro match that's past the round of 16 Jose is just that shit
If Galtier can survive a season at PSG despite poor performances, results, getting knocked out of the CL at the RO16, getting knocked out of the French Cup at the same stage, not winning the league until the last two games, and leaked emails complaining about black and muslim players, then Mourinho has nothing to worry about. Mourinho has also never been sacked in his first season at a club since his first club Benfica and that was only because of in house politics. That was more than 20 years ago btw. His first season at every club he has ever managed at, even during his short spell at Benfica, has been a good season. Mourinho has started strongly at every single job he has ever done. So to suggest he wouldn't survive a season is laughable.
No Michael, it’s Sevilla in the Europa League. Even if Man City were somehow in the Europa League final against Sevilla I’d still be betting on Sevilla.
there was two powers at work this night, Sevilla being a beast in the Europa league and Mourinho not losing European finals... Sevilla's mojo was stronger than Mourinho's mojo
Tbf, Jorge Jesus did a fantastic job on Flamengo, the guy got more trophies than losses, winning our continental cup one day and our nacional competition the next day, absolutely crazy...
Ref awarded Sevilla a penalty so ludicrous that VAR forced him into a climb-down. He then refuses to consult VAR when Sevilla handball it in their own box. And caps it all off by demanding a saved Sevilla penalty be retaken. Check the man's bank account, subpoena his digital devices, this is corrupt & managers shouldn't be penalised for calling out terrible performances.
Tbf I thought Sevilla s was a penalty too in real time and needed replays to see it wasnt but yeah, no excuse to not call that handball, would have been a clean cross had it not hit his hand. As for the retake, it was technically correct but I hate that they are doing this now, it is hard enough to save penalties as is. He was generally great too, just that non-call that he got wrong and it ended up deciding the game
A Maltese team almost made it to UECL this season (playoffs) and gave Levski Sofia a run for their money (look up Hamrun Spartans). Hey it's an opportunity to develop our teams.
It is true that Roma was, let's say, undermined by a penalty kick not given and a possible red card not given to Lamela... But you cannot wait for the referee in the parking lot, etc, that's crazy
As a referee you can't be as horrendous in a cup final. Or any game for that matter. The fact that he and the VAR team will come out of this unpunished I have no sympathy for him when it comes to Jose's confrontation. I don't agree with fans coming after him or his family though. That's where its gotten out of control. And before anyone says anything all top managers have resorted to similar antics at one point or another. Ferguson, Guardiola, Klopp all these guys. Can't think of any incident with Ancelotti as he's a fairly chill guy but he's probably had his moment as well. If you're all gonna call out Mourinho then you better start calling out everyone else as well. Mourinho is just an easy target because children who started watching football 5 years ago hate him and think he's useless and everyone else starts buying it
Jose Mourinho has had the most odd career ever. He is the most strategic mastermind and least strategic mastermind at the same time. He has won so many trophies and yet has failed so many times too. That’s part of why I love him.
@lord pelagius yeah similar to Barca, Man City, and so on! Yes, the salary manoeuvre case is a fraud indeed. But Juve got away with about 750 k Euros as a fine I like how Juve got punished with points deduction for "manipulating" balance sheet (which is done by every club... how could you determine the value of a player... Read the case in details and not your UK or whatever headlines ... before judging). More for less Less for more
Hahaha its just silly saying this after he didn't even went to check this penalty. Ohh I'm forgetting the fault made by Lamela, it was a clear red card.
He didn't make a single mistake. Perfect referring and the way he was treated afterwards by those scumbag Roma fans was a disgrace. Ban them from Europe.
Looking forward to NEXT year when finally, no dropdowns from another competition. So no Sevilla, Arsenal, Barkalona, UTD to Europa league and still bottling it. Roma were the only team from the beginning of Europa league, if not for the handball call and Dybala call I believe they would totally dominate. Sevilla did not score.
Roma did manage to make it to penalties, it's as close as any team got to beating Sevilla in the EL final, so not that big of an embarrassment for Mourinho.
@@silviofelix1991 and not only that but they should've won it, it's the only time where i could say could've or should've in football because that match was ACTUALLY rigged, sevilla's goalie saved all of benfica's penalties by standing ahead of the goal line, something that you just can't do, and the officials didn't do shit, it's either that there is some form of bias for sevilla in europa or that guttmann curse is a bitch.
Its an embarrassment because Mourinho absolutely bottled it. The way they set up after scoring was disgusting. The ref had a great game. Every decision he made was correct. Roma should be banned from europe for the way they conducted themselves in the match itself and the fans afterwards. Shit club, shit players, shit fans and a shit manager.
@Irishguy you say the players lost the penalty shoot out not the manager but correct me if I'm wrong doesn't the manager have final say on who takes pens and in what order they take them????? Your obsession with mourinho is out of control
No one watch football to see nothing go in order and no card show everyone watch football to see excitement and caious and fight that the beautiful game I watch football to see intense tackle and fouls that's it that football
I find it so absurd how Spain just *dominates* this competition now. Since 2004, they've won 12 times in 20 years, and the only times in which a Spanish team lost a final, was because *the other finalist* was Spanish as well. Europa League used to be a competition where _anything_ can happen. Teams from Russia and Ukraine would win, and no one would bat an eye. Galatasaray once won it in 2000. Now, it seems like Spanish teams always win. I hope that, at least, the Conference League can maintain the level of uncertainty and unpredictability that is lost in the other cups.
@@edi0157 Yeah, that is another thing I find it rather unfair: you can win Europa League and Conference League by dropping down from a bigger competitions. I "miss" the times where, if you were knocked out of a competition, IT WAS OVER FOR YOU. No international competitions for the rest of the season
@@NIDELLANEUM Yeah, on one hand it does give a purpose to finishing 3rd and it acts as a safety net for the champions of smaller leagues during qualifiers but in the competition proper it pollutes the competition with stronger teams that failed at their actual level. Then again, those are the teams that bring in revenue for UEFA and I guess it is a sort of relegation, but that is what the leagues are for
Imagine in Seria A where clubs don't usually pay big transfer fees anymore you spend 150 mil in transfers over two years, also bringing on free expensive players and going 6th and 7th in the league and OK getting Conference league. There is nothing special about Mourinho for a decade
@@xpo5045 look up transfermarket and you'll easily see that only last season he spent 127 milion euros on transfers, including almost 45 milion combined on mighty Kumbulla and Shomurodov costing 18 and 26.5 mil. Also paying 12 mil on then 34 year Rui Patricio is genius piece of the mastermind. This year only 9 mil on transfers making it combined 136 milion spent only on transfer fees across those two seasons to be exact. Than you consider this season on free he signed expensive players such as Dybala, Wijnaldum, Belloti, Matic etc, who surely don't play for peanuts. Hard cold facts, but enjoy the idea of miricle worked. Also you can see Lazio that finished in front of Roma both years and will play champions league next season spent only bit more than 50 milion in those two years, so well above double and nearly triple amount less than "the special one" spent
Mourinho is still one of the top 5 managers right now like you said if a game goes to penalties its not the managers fault if they lose even if he chose bad players to take the pens its not his fault they can't score them
no that's not how it does unfortunately, you either win the thing or you don't, roma's only possible qualifications now are either the europa league or the conference league.
Can’t have an elite manager acting like that, it encourages the worst of the “fans” to act out as well, which is what ended up happening. There’s no excuse for a ref and his family being assaulted over a damned football match
That's nonesene. Mourinho is not those fans father 😂. They are full grown man who makes their own decisions. Also are you aware of Roma's history? They didn't wait for mourinho to act crazy Mourinho's antics were unnecessary though I agree there. You can lose it on the pitch but when the game is over even if you've been hard done by you must have emotional control
@@brandonayong5823 I’m not saying he’s 100% responsible for what they did. But when an authority figure at the club is acting classless, the already idiotic fans don’t need much more onus to show their asses. It’s a sad fact that people that are already inclined to display the most base behaviors don’t need much excuse to do so, especially when it comes from someone they see as some sort of leader.
As a United fan, the string of poor referee decisions we faced against Spanish sides - Sociedad, Barcelona, Betis, and Sevilla, and no one gave a shit. And now when it happens in a final everyone is having a meltdown.
Its not about Jose going to an elite club, its that the elite clubs arent offering him the job yet If he gets those offers he will certainly go, but certain problems will obviously arise which have always been constant to Mourinho
I don't know why Jose took the Roma job to begin with (and even TOT for that matter)! If he was still young and unknown, then there is no problem with taking on such projects. But Jose has already won everything there is to win in club football. He should sit at home and wait for a giant club to come for him. For example, why did Real Madrid came for Ancelotti? Is it because he did a great job at EVE? No, it's because of what he has achieved. Jose should do the same.
I'm just sick and tired of Sevilla winning that Europa League all the time. They have to lose in the later stages. They don't deserve that title right now.
Mourinho had a point on refereeing though. 2022 World cup purely decided by ref mistakes 2023 Champions league both Benfica and Napoli completely knocked out by the referees who looked like they really wanted a full milan semifinal. Last time Sevilha faced a Portuguese club in the Europa League final, it went to penalties and sevilha's GK stopped every shot with both feet at 2M from the goaline, nothing was retaken. Now it is the opposite and for a mere 10 cm they make roma retake a penalty. Not to mention the amount of mistakes ref made throughout the whole match When you put all of it together, it starts to look like major european competitions are being decided by the referees this season. You'd expect it from a competition in Qatar, but nothing in european competitions went correctly this season if not for the cursed conference league, which is hilarious.
