Thank you for bringing up the lack of unique weapons issue in the last several games, that honestly was such a huge part of what drew me into the side questing/world building in their games. this new system is fine so long as they also have the unique weapons with quests too...
Literally couldn't agree more, I hope this is one of the comments Todd sees given he reads some of these comments, really miss unique weapons and the lore they bring to the world and excitement of their special abilities and traits
Yep. I never really enjoyed the legendary system until I realized that I only hated it because it basically fully replaced the unique weapon system. Both can exist as long as the uniques aren’t just the same weapons with legendary perks. Look at Skyrim with its awesome Daedric artifacts with unique enchantments as well as the normal enchants in random weapons. They had the design down and they fucked it up for Fallout. 😂
I’m 39 and I still feel the same as I did when I was 29. Age is just a number. It’s all about your perspective. Now my back on the other hand…. That feels its age.
I glad you got to interview uncle Todd. Not to throw shade at other reporters but many other interviews ask about things I didn't care for at all. You did a good job, a lot of stuff I was interested to learn. Thank you for that interview. I really hope you get to talk to Todd more often, maybe you can even play chess together. And if Todd is lurking in the comments, as a modder who works on a total conversion Fallout 4 mod, thank you very much for supporting the modding community. Not many developers do that. You are the best.
I’ve been here since the beginning and It’s crazy how excited I was seeing that interview! sure for the news but so psyched for Matty and to hear straight from Todd Howard that they’ve been following Matty’s career. Keep up the great work!!
I'm not a massive fan of youtubers but this guy comes across as very grateful for his success and has worked a long time for it. well deserved, he's good at what he does. to get that interview with Todd Howard was big, and he did ask some pressing questions.
Hey Matt, found your videos recently and just subscribed. For this video, 2 cents are I think the first section of this video would've been a better fit at the end, not the gratefulness that's all cool, but commenting on the realness of interviews etc, so the 7m mark on is what people are probably mostly interested I think. Great interview with Todd, hope to see other interviews in the future.
Matty, you did a killer job with the interview, and like you said, I hope this is the start of an annual thing, at the very least. You asked the right questions, and you asked them the right way. You also knew how to roll with the natural topic changes and emerging avenues of questions that come up in a long interview. I hope other developers will want to chat with you, as well. I think you'd be fair to developers, but also to the people that buy their games. I hope you're very proud!
Proud of you Matty; keep it up dude! Hopefully, you can get more interviews lined up in the future with Todd and other devs. You've come a long way man, I hope you keep rocking on!
Congratulations on getting that interview with Todd Howard! Along with everything else. That was a great interview. Even though I have been critical of you sometimes I respect how you stay true to yourself!!! Keep up the good work
Matty, the interview was amazing. The questions were great and things that an interviewer from the industry that’s not immersed in the gaming culture just wouldn’t have asked. They were also balanced: pushing and respectful. Honestly I was so parasocially proud when I saw the video pop up in my feed because I remember the days figuring out the fallout 4 countdown and what it all meant. So cool to see that that interview is what it all culminated to 😄
One of the most positive dudes in the gaming RU-vid scene. Matty and I are the same age and I just started watching his vids when he started. You deserve this success.
Damn Matt. We fucking grew up together man! From Skyrim - F4 - 76 - StarField and now we're post SF. Happy birthday man, one more year until we both hit that old man status lol
Shout out to you Matty, I've been watching your channel for years and years, I'm almost the same age as you so it's pretty wholesome to see how you've been growing as a person and as content creator, cheers to you and here's hoping for more years to come with awesome content!
Good for you, man, you're a good kid. You can tell you really care about your craft and your audience. If there's one video game, RU-vidr that I can say deserved an interview with the man himself, it's you.
Great Job Matty! That was my favorite interview with Todd Howard to date. You handled yourself quite well, and brought out a much more cam and candid side of Todd. 😎👍
As a long time fan of you, gotta say i'm proud of you Matty, you just had a career defining interview with one of the greatest and most influential developers in gaming history, may your career never stop growing.
It was a great interview, I was glad it sounded like TES6 isn't going to have a lot of procedural generation and you asked just about every question I would have
Wow congratulations Matty. Been hella awesome to see your growth man. Only been following you for a few years now but your content has always been stellar & always a consistent highlight to my days. Can’t tell you how many long walks I’ve taken, meals cooked and prepared or cardio sessions I’ve powered through thanks to you lol. You deserve all the success in the world & more. Also happy birthday to you!!! My bday happens to be today too & it’s no surprise to me that you’re born in June as well haha the vibes are always there. Keep crushing it homie!!! 🙏🏾
They spelled this out in the pre-launch stuff about the 5 year post-launch delivery cycle. We know that Shattered Space was the faction quest for the Va'ruun that they split off from base as the pre-launch deal sweetener. The stuff that happens after SS is gonna be wild. All the base game was is the first half of the first act of the story. I suspect by the time the 10 year lifecycles period is over they'll have taken it full SaaS. Considering they made 3 million in the first week with the Vulture quest i think this is a revenue stream they're wanting to actualize in much the same way GTA Online did.
you look good and healthy man. also been watching for years (cos fallout) and super happy for you. now ya got a big foot in the door there... hope your future is even crazier lol
When I was 15 watching your videos I thought you were 20 years old or something but now I realize you are only 1 year older than me lol. Thanks for the great content
The interview was good, you pretty much ask the big question, that everyone wanna to ask. I’m happy that Starfield is gonna get more story expansions!!!
All I know is as long as the next fallout game shares elements with New Vegas unlike 76 and fallout 4 then I’m certain it will be massive success and genuinely universally loved like new Vegas. Todd it just works.
That's one thing I wanted from Skyrim and Fallout 4, which is periodic expansions and/or stories. I loved those worlds, and ending Fallout 4 after Nuka World, or ending Skyrim after Dawnguard and Dragonborn, made me just want more stories and missions and immersion in those worlds and in those engines. Am I excited for the next entries in those series and the technological improvements promised? Absolutely! I didn't want these series to be like Call of Duty or the more recent Assassin's Creed games and just have more games thrown out every year. But at least a bit more in those worlds. I know there's Creations, and mods, and I play those for sure. But there's nothing like a full Bethesda experience built into the game.
I really enjoyed your interview. We have had some new Bethesda creations drop since then and basically I feel like Todd gave us a bum steer. When he said he heard what people were saying about the Vulture mission costing 700 credits I was kind of pleased. And.... now they've dropped the water-cooled miner's outfit for 400 credits and I'm less pleased. This is not the direction you take if you're actually listening.
I do wonder with the yearly expansions, does this mean: we don't get any real updates to the base game. Will we only be getting paid "dlc". Because the base game has mayor flaws, which modders are trying to fix right now. But it will never become coherent if Bethesda doesn't fix these issues themselves. such things: - Ship balancing - Citizen NPC's - Quest variety - Planet terrain - Companions - Temples Because these really require attention above everything else. I rather have them first fix the base game, before making paid "dlc".
Yeah man, you led a good interview. It was organic and true to your own voice, you owned the criticisms you’ve made about BGS and had a backbone about it (which others like Luke Steven’s haven’t been able to do when they rip on a game then meet the developers behind it and starts butt kissing like he did with Ubisoft), but you were also courteous and thoughtful about how you phrased your questions. It was clear that Todd respected you in the interview and even threw out a couple of quotes he knew would get the community excited and draw attention to your channel because you were honest and fair with him without being a butthurt dweller. I see you getting invited to bigger press outlets as a host in the future. Unsolicited advice: don’t sell out. Keep building your own gaming media house off this wave of subs. Maybe invest in your own studio and start taking this channel to the next level. You could build the next Gameranks or Kotaku if you play your cards right.
you said "don't sell out" and then encouraged him to build the next Kotaku or Gameranx. You have no idea how the world works, do you? Also, how old are you?
Dissection #1 If you see another MrMattyPlays or Juicehead video talking about a remaster or spinoff immediately adblock the channel because Todd Howard himself said it's clickbait trash.
Dissection #2 Todd Howard volunteered the topic of across-the-board player discontent with Bethesda's monetization practices in anticipation of MrMattyPlays bringing it up himself. Little did Todd know that MrMattyPlays had no clue that Fallout 76 went full pay to win with the Skyline Valley update. You can now swipe to rank 150 of the season and directly buy power through repeatable perk coin purchases as soon as you start the game.
Shattered Space isn't going to be like Far Harbor in the good way. It will be bad like Skyrim in space. It may take place all in one location, but that location will still be an entire planet. And when it releases, the game will still be a pointless expanse of rocks without the proper space game mechanics to properly take on even the one planet. Bethesda is good at making games that fit in craters.
When Bethesda's chief bullshit artist tells you that expeditions are okay, you know they really suck. This is the same guy who told everybody that his loading screen simulator of a space game where ships do nothing was great.
Quality vs Quantity, it’s great they’re committed to so much content but if it’s bad content who cares. I’d rather eat the smallest steak than the largest pile of poo
I personally would rather no expansions for starfield and a quicker release of the next elder scrolls. I dont even think I am going to get shattered space at release and will probably wait for a sale.
I don’t comment much on your videos but I’ve been watching your videos for close to 8 years now and I’m super happy for you man.. hella cool to see this actually happen you deserve it 100%! Congratulations dude keep putting out that great content 👍
