I used to follow overseas smart tech RU-vidrs, but their suggestions often fell short in our(Singapore) context. Thankfully I stumbled upon Alex's content. Your insights and recommendations are spot on for Singaporean homes.
any device or product this year that you think should be in this list? let me know! (11:53) - #1 Dreamebot L20 Ultra Robot Vacuum (10:27) - #2 Google Pixel Tablet (09:29) - #3 Aqara FP2 Presence Sensor (8:00) - Flic Twist (6:47) - Philips Hue Sync TV App (5:27) - Smartwings Matter Blinds Motor (4:10) - Switchbot Hub 2 (3:10) - Mowe Rain Sensor (1:31) - Sonos ERA 100 (0:24) - Aqara G4 Smart Doorbell
Didn't know about the flic twist till you post about it. Can't wait to try it out once it comes to control my sonos & nanoleaf. Thank you from another Alex :)
Hi Alex, do you recommend to get non-wifi aircon (like Mitsubishi Starmax) and add those IR device to make it "smart" or just straight away purchase wifi aircons like Daikin or LG? Or if you can recommend your existing smart aircon setup that will be good too!
Hey Alex, great video. I got the MOWE rain sensor but I have a homey pro smart hub, any idea how to connect this up? Do I need to get another zigbee mesh gateway for the sensor?
Hi Alex, jus came across yur videos recently. very good tips for our local context. One question for you, where did you buy your nice marble dinning table? Tks. Blessed Christmas and New Year.
Hey Alex, I have a Dreame L10s Ultra and had to send it for repairs 3 times in the first 1.5 years. Do you face any QC issues with your previous L10s and current L20?
@@AlexTeoThanks for the fast reply. I would say the Dreame's features are indeed as advertised, but the constant breakdowns are disappointing. Wish there was more coverage on Robovac reliability issues available.
thanks for the video. u mentioned aqara g4 inside, but I think previously u never reviewed this before, or only the nest doorbell.. Can I check with u whether the doorbell syncs to the google hub/tablet when someone presses it? like will a live footage or short video appear?
It's not directly integrated like the google nest, but you can set routines on google home such that when doorbell ring, use a google assistant command to show the doorbell
Hi Alex, firstly, wow !! Your home setup is a geek's dream place. It would be great to go in depth into how to set up a presence sensor to connect to all the appliances thru the Google or Alex home automation systems! Again, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the video mr never feel bad about being sick and don't feel you have to soldier on for our sake. I am sure there are financial reasons you do. I bought these even though I do have the Australian versions of the previous release I havent even opened those yet. Pitty about the packaging with sticky residue hope mine won't have that issue.
Hey Alex, your video never disappoints! Thanks for sharing with us the smart tech scene. Question - I couldn't find any battery info on the rain sensor. Do you know what type of battery it uses?
Hello! I’m curious how u managed to hot wire the G4 doorbell! My electrician said a transformer is needed and just recommended using batteries to power it.
Hi Alex, do you know if it's possible to automatically send the video notification to Nest Hub from the Aqara G4 doorbell when someone rings the doorbell?
How’s the switchbot hub 2? Would it be able to switch off the aircon when it drops below a certain temperature and turn it back on when it rises above a certain temperature? Lastly, is it able to switch off the display of the hub at night? The light on the hub can be very distracting for light sleepers.
The hub settings like the light can't be used in an automation action, but you can set auto brightness for it. The rest are simple automations you can set
Alex, the google pixel tablet hub, u order from Amazon USA and send to a warehouse to forward to Singapore? How much is the shipping cost ? Found Amazon sg have it but the price seems higher? Next on the Aqara FP2, have you had the issue on the “ghost” effect as well as the zone or device keep indicating a “network connection time out” . I have some issue on this.
i always use ezbuy for US purchase, shipping is around $25, sometime amazon.com is much cheaper so i always buy from there. The FP2 takes time to find a placement and settings to get the best result
I just purchased the mowe rain sensor but it does not come with any mounting kit or tape. How do you mount your rain sensor such that it is stable and able to survive the wind and rain?
hello brother, how you got home assistant on Pixel tablet? i ask because i have already been dealing with smart devices in home since 2020, but I've never used home assistant and I am pretty curious to add it to my home.
Thanks to you, I was convinced with your suggestion for the Dreame Ultra, pulled the trigger and my wife is super happy with the robot. It really is a wonderful machine, I can’t recommend enough!!! ❤
hi can i just add... the smartwings motor is not a easy plug-and-play option. turns out roller blinds tube widths are not that standardised. many tube dimensions out there. Smartwings motor are meant for 1.5inch tube diameter. i just bought 3 motors to realise they are too small to fit. hopefully I'm able to return them now..
May I know if I can use the smart wings matter motor work for my blinds that is currently based on string pull? As I have a toddler at home, I’ve contacted a supplier of electric blinds because of safety and they say I need to replace all my blinds :(
1:20 haha.. ringtone I use for my iPhone. Beside that cool “Cause Stone Cold said so” ringtone, I am also rocking with the Cult of “CM Punk” personality ringtone. You should try this one and set your phone to maximum volume 😂🎉
i dare not say any blinds but i will say most, the weight of the entire blind and the size of the tube matters, just contact customer support if you want to be sure before making any purchase
@@AlexTeo hi Alex, i got my motor but the black rubber part that goes into the blind seems bigger than my blinds. can i know if you did any modification to yours? it seems so easy to slide in in your video! haha
The thing is a lot of these smart home products are from China. I know we are all basically in China's pocket already, but for doorbell and security products, I still look for European or American brands.
