I had a lot of fun hearing your list. I have added a few to my tbr. A lot were there already. Any Man is part of my favorite of 2024. It was gut wrenching!!! New subscriber.
If you like mixed media, have you read the mystery/thriller/horror-ish book Night Film by Marisha Pessl? I just read it in November and omg another 5⭐ all-time favorite. It even has bonus content in the back that you can interact with the mixed media digitally.
I LOVED Night Film. I admit it took me a while to get through it, I read another book in between. I only say that cause Donica if you’re having a tough time stick with it. It is longer than most books. But the payoff is incredible. The way the last third or the book played out in my head, I would love to see it on screen, done right. This is one of the few books I’d consider rereading.
@@GabrielTheMagolorMain I ripped through it - almost 600 pgs but I read it in 4 days and 3 of those days were work days. I was into the story but also the mixed media aspect helps the quicker pacing as well.
Aww, I hope you find a great read! I go in and out of slumps too. I think I’ve DNF’d my last couple of books 😅 but I’m listening to a pretty fast paced book now called When Monsters Lie. It’s dubbed a “paranormal fantasy romance” 😂 so that’s apparently what I’m into right now.
Hey there! New to your channel…really digging your background :) I love weird horror so The Nightmare Man sounds amazing 🤩 You sold me on A History of Fear and Episode Thirteen! 👀
I have never had a tuber read/ taste books as mine. I read these book, the only one I need to get is MISTER LULLABY. New subscriber my friend. Love there wasn’t a bunch of cursing THANK YOU.
Oooh-I just got back into reading last year, but The Martian by Andy Weir is in my top 3 of the year. So good. Adding Dark Matter to my reading list!! That one sounds so good. Have you read The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury? Dude… I LOVED Grady Hendrix’s How to Sell a Haunted House and have major fomo having not read Southern Book Club. I’m definitely reading it SOON.
I finally read Dark Matter in November and LOVED it!! omg. I basically read it in one sitting. I already had Upgrade and I'll be getting Recursion as an add-on for BOTM in Jan.. and I just got his Wayward Pines trilogy.. gimme everything Blake Crouch!! 😄
There was a Wayward Pines television show years ago. It was pretty good, and I didn’t realize it was based on a book! I think it got canceled after one season so I really want to read the series next! 😄
@@donicareads oh wow and I didn't know about the show! well I don't have TV so that could be why 😆 occasionally I'll watch a show on Amazon.. usually if it's because I read the book lol
I can’t narrow down to one so I’d say my top 5 from this year were: 1. Ace by Angela Chen 2. Queen of the Cicadas by V. Castro 3. The Honeys by Ryan La Sala 4. This is where we talk things out 5. Mine: an anthology of body autonomy horror
Yay! Looking into to all these. I don't think I have heard of any of those, so I am excited. Mine sounds so good. That is a very unique topic for an anthology.
Ok, I have to ask you a spoiler question about none of this is true…. Who actually killed her daughters friend? Who do you believe? Josie or her daughter? I feel like that answer or that question was left Open ended
That one is hard! 😆 I do remember finishing the book and leaning toward believing Josie’s daughter. Only because in hindsight I could not believe anything Josie said or thought. The one truth that sticks out to me is that Walter was helping Erin with her gaming channel. He was well liked and I think that was proof of what was happening and yet Josie twisted it into something really vile like she did with anything that didn’t suit her. So I definitely think it’s believable that Josie snapped and killed that girl especially after killing Walter and leaving her daughter for dead. It’s very eerie that the books leaves off with Josie thinking about her version of events. Completely believing her own delusions. 😳
