I'm actually just about to start The Spell Shop ☺ I love The House in the Cerulean Sea, and am very much looking forward to the sequel. I'd recommend The Roots of Happiness by Susie Dent. It's a book about words, both words for happiness, and the things that make us happy. I also loved What You Are Looking for is in the Library by Michiko Aoyama. A library - enough said! There's also A Place to Hang the Moon by Kate Albus. It's a WW2 story about children looking for a new family. In a similar vein, I'm currently reading the Cazalet Chronicles by Elizabeth Jane Howard. While not cosy, per se, the way you get to know the characters over time made me feel close to them. Some of them have become old friends. A series I read and loved last year is the Invisible Library series by Genevieve Cogman. It's another one where the characters became old friends. And, again, libraries! One more I thought was amazing was Fanny Herself by Edna Ferber. It's an oldie, but the writing had such a cosy feel. And one last one - The Blue Castle by LM Montgomery. So funny and lovely, and atmospheric. Ok, I'll stop now!
I hope you enjoy The Spellshop, Katie. It's really such a low stakes and comforting book. I can see it being something I'd have loved having read to me when I was much younger. I'll definitely check out the Susie Dent book, thank you! She seems like such a wholesome person herself. I received my copy of Rewiched recently and I ordered the one with sprayed edges. I really liked Bookshops And Bone Dust have Legends And Lattes to read. I loved the Cerulean Sea and have recently got the sequel.

Hi Asling, I've been waiting for one of my booktube friends to do an Autumnal recs video. I've read but unhauled The Very Secret Society of Iregular Witches and The House in the Cerulian Sea. The Legends and Lates and the Half of Soul series' are on my TBR. Rewitched is getting added. Do you like historical fantasy? It and cozy are my favorite sub genres, I just finished and five stared A Green and Ancient Light.
I do like historical fantasy (and historical fiction in general), which is interesting because I'm not massively interested in history overall. I haven't heard of A Green and Ancient Light but I'll definitely be looking it up ☺️
I’m not the biggest fan of cozy fantasy, so Half A Soul was most definitely a right time, right book for me (as you know) 🥹 I generally found it more comforting than cozy as the stakes felt quite high and it never felt boring to me (as I have found with other cozy fantasy titles 😅). And I’m planning to rewatch Practical Magic soon and Rewitched sounds like a great book to follow that up with!
I can definitely see your issues with cosy books - I've put a few of them down because the stakes felt a little bit tooooo low 😅 I've never actually seen Practical Magic but I really want to watch it in the next few weeks. I've heard such excellent things about it 💫
although giving it four stars, i wasn't the biggest fan of "the secret society of irregular witches." it wasn't my cup of tea, but it was a wonderful book to add to my cosy, autumn reading list. also, thank you for your recommendations. i'm adding belladonna to my tbr now!
I always think it's so interesting how reading (and consuming stories in any format) can be so subjective. I hope you enjoy Belladonna. I had mixed feelings about it, but still find myself drawn toward reading the next books so I think it's safe to say that I overall enjoyed it ☺️
