@@jamesvancam did you just say Nevermind to New Years? Wow, you must be such a negative creep. You remind me about a girl who was dumb, and smells like teen spirit.
"About a Girl" is the first song I learned to play. Thanks to you, Marty! It's been 7 months since my guitar journey has started. Thank you for everything!
dont forget the song where krist played the guitar, seasons in the sun (check out the music video its so funny? wholseome? dont really know how to put it) and mexican seafood, hard af to play and swap meat also hard and r*pe me 1991 paramount
I just can't over the fact that Come as you are is such an extremely simple riff but it is soooo good and catchy and original, it's just crazy how Kurt came up with this stuff. Great list btw Marty
Listen to "Eighties" by Killing Joke. "Smells like teen spirit" is " more than a feeling" by Boston- Kurt was great but also a fraud. Butch Vig is probably responsible for those. I think its one reason why he was depressed and why " man who sold the world" was on unplugged. He wrote a lot of good songs himself, but not his most famous ones entirley. Nirvana is probably my fav band btw so don't take offense, I found the process interesting. It's good to demystify genius a bit.
@@ryswyk5894 I agree. Nirvana are heavily influenced by the wipers and pixies for example. But those two songs are rip offs. Kurt hated Smells like teen spirit for that reason. He used to play more than a feeling before it and sometimes sang the Boston lyrics over it. Like he knew it was really cynical. Its not that dumb. I understand artistic process. But there is such a thing as copying. I'm not the one marvelling over how he came up with it.
@@viggoulander9671 The first two chords (B7 and E7) are blues chords. Also, there are such things as triads in blues music lmao, triads aren't excluded.
Marty single-handedly coached me through the beginning of being a newbie guitar player with these nirvana tutorials. I remember when i first started with heart shaped box, then learned Barred chords and then learned lithium i felt like the man.
Hey Marty, thanks for your favorite top 10 Nirvana riffs. Kurt Cobain was one helluva a musician/writer. Heart Shaped Box was my all time favorite Nirvana song. They were incredible and it is such a shame how it all ended. I also loved the MTV unplugged performances.
Marty likes Nirvana just as much as I do and I love it. Started watching your lessons back in 2011. Thanks for teaching me how to play guitar! Cheers 🍻 🎄
Been watching you for a while, really enjoy your content. You make me pick up my guitar more often than I would normally. As an older dad who works a bunch, it is greatly appreciated. Keep up the great content, and I wish you continued success.
Nice list marty! My personal fav is in bloom but it's the drums and bass that make it so powerful one of my favourite songs to play along with. Have a very happy Christmas
I can play all of these, but thx for reminding me of these classic legendary songs! My fam & friends only recognize SLTS which is a dang shame and some thought Nirvana was just a clothing brand lmao lol..
Thank you so much for this Marty! I really love Nirvana’s music and love both the way you teach and play the guitar. I enjoyed this video so much! Keep rockin’ man!!!
Love your channel and content! #2 - Where did you sleep last night - when I play it I slide up the top E string from fret 2-4 between the first E/Em chord before the A and it adds a little flare. Great riffs!!
The reason why I have kurt cobain tattooed on me, such a musical inspiration. Wrote such simple songs but they were so catchy, so great and makes you think how can you write songs like that to lead an entire future generation
"Help me Marty Wan Kenobi your my only hope"! I would really like to learn The Sweetness by Jimmy Eat World. There was some other tutorials to learn it. I just wasn't getting it. I like your teaching style much better.
😊 I had been used to hearing In The Pines from several blues & bluegrass players, and Maybelle Carter and her daughters, before getting the unplugged tape with Nirvana doing it. Of course glad to have the whole tape at the end of the day.
Wow ! You actually have seen nirvana live. I like to think the ones who were able to see Nirvana live are lucky as well as able to brag just a little. Good video Marty !
love your Content! I would like to see your amp settings, cause i dont really know how to make the song sound like the original using things like: Gain, Reverb, Delay....
Marty should make a lesson video where he teaches us how to play Where Did You Sleep Last Night by Nirvana or maybe even all of these? Marty's videos are the best to learn from anyways..
Amazing how a bunch of kids inspired so many generations man, Nirvana it is really something else, without being actually something else, if you know what I mean haha Great video Marty, would love to know more about your experience watching them live
Literally if you add ‘big long now’ ‘rape me’ ‘polly’ ‘drain you’ ‘I hate myself and I want to die’ and ‘sappy’ and this is all the god tier nirvana songs IMO
@@MCSpaz Do you think oasis songs will play well on it because I could have got a 2nd hand les paul epiphone but chose the jag instead and recently Ive started loving oasis and Im sort of having second thoughts over the jag .
You should've put Where did you sleep last night and Man who sold the world in an honourable mentions section, because you missed so many great riffs (Drain You, Breed, Polly, Aneurysm, School, Mr Moustache, Blew, On A Plain, among others).
Hey Marty ! Long time follower ! Could you elaborate a bit on where did you see them live and what is the overall memory of that night/day ? Thanks again !! :)
Friend, I would love to know the story of when you saw nirvana live, and I know I'm not the only one who will be interested in hearing from you, please and also I think it would be a great video. Greetings from Argentina.
Hi Marty, I always watch your guitar lessons, and I’m really surprised to see you playing a Brazilian Tagima rather than a Fender Jazzmaster 😅. Are they selling it in the US? How popular is it?
